I took my truck to get oil and lube my check eng. light was on just wanted my truck serviced and they checked my eng.light anyways and told me my transmission needed fixed to get my lite out around 3000.oo they lied. took and had eng light checked it was a 50.oo part behind my gas tank. Been getting my propane here for 2 decades - even when they were a Chevron station way back! They always are friendly when I go in for tire repairs (thanks to contractors who let those nails drop out of their truck :( Anyway, Glenn is always friendly and even patched up my 4runner tire as they were closing for the day - he kept the shop open and helped me out! When I first brought my vehichle to Thundebird Automotive, my vehichle was running pretty good but had a few minor leaks. I was quoted a repair cost of well over $2000 dollars to repair the leaks. I decided to just have the coolant leak repaired which alone cost me almost $1000. Two days later my 'check engine'light came on. They denied it was anything they did and charged me almost another $1000 dollars to replace the fuel pump (which was only a couple of years old and working well), and canister vent valve. Upon getting my vehicle back from that repair, there was someting wrong with the suspension system. It is handling poorly with limited braking. In conclusion I spent almost $2000 dollars and still have 3 leaks and a vehicle that is now performing worst than ever. read more

Thunderbird took 21/2 days and $1400 for a new a/c system in my Dodge 2500 pickup, drove it and rear-ended another vehicle while in their possession. After getting the truck back the a/c went out again after about 35 miles drive time!! They again fixed it again in 45 minutes saying it was an electrical problem! Now it needs new tires when the mechanic locked up the brakes in the collision! Be aware! Be very aware! Not a happy customer. read more

Took my suv there to get the air fixed which stopped blowing. They fixed the blower but never checked anything past that. When I pressed the recycle air button the air would stop then start again. I took it back the next day and they said it was a part they had to replace which was their error. Got it back and the temperature was either 60 or 90 and nothing in between. Temperatures worked fine before I took it in. I took it back and they wanted more money to look at it again and insisted they fixed the issue because the air now blows. Poor service to not check anything else and not taking responsibility for damages they did. I will never go back again! read more

My check engine light came on coming down the hill into Black Canyon City- by the time I hit 8:00am traffic at Bell my temperature gauge went all the way to hot. I pulled off at thunderbird and turned into the closest garage. The guys here could not have been more helpful. They diagnosed my problem ( I had gone too long between oil changes and almost burned out my engine)- fixed it promptly and honestly and even hooked me up with wifi so I could get some work done while waiting. The father and son team here were polite, helpful and even though I live in Scottsdale- I will absolutely come back to them for any work I need. read more

Good oil change good price, but took over 24 hours. I did the night drop on Sunday evening, which was convenient but the truck wasnt ready after work on Monday still. John was friendly and helpful and didnt charge me for taking off my door panel to look at a problem with my door lock. I asked him to only remove the door panel if he'd have the parts to fix it, but then said they'd have to manufacture the part themselves. Its good to know they can do that sort of thing, but it was more expensive than just buying the (hard to find) parts. Really, I give them 3.5 stars for now since I had to ask him to remove the charge. I will try them again next time I need service and will update the review accordingly. read more

By far the worst experience. I took my car in SPECIFICALLY for a brake inspection because my brakes we squeaky. They change the brake fluid and said I was good. I brought it back a month later and they said I needed brakes AND rotors. When I asked how they missed that the first time they had no answer. Complete rip off. I found this place based off off of positive reviews (hoping they were legit). My car has recently begun to seem mas if is loosing power while driving, it only happend about 2x last week. I took it here with hopes of getting it diagnosed since no service light was showing up. I agrreed to their diagnostic fee and left my car there for the day, they were not able to repeat the problem after having two seperate employees test drive it and the computer could not pick up any errors or codes so at te end of the day they apologized for not being able to find an issue with the car and handed me my keys back with no charge. Thunderbird Automotive is without a doubt the best customer service I've ever received! I was having transmission problems and they put in a new part to fix the issue. After putting in the new part, the issue was still present, so instead of still charging me like any other place would have, they told me it was their mistake and charged me nothing. When I was selling my car, John gave me advice and helped me do so. A few months later John reached out to me to see if I needed to make any appointments, but I had moved states. I thanked him for the great customer service and told him I had moved, and he offered to help me find a new reliable automotive repair shop, and told me to not hesitate to call their shop if I had any auto questions. I took my van to these guys just to get a diagnosis on it, surround the diagnosis once and replaced one sensor, then when they went to run a second diagnostic on it with a sound that the fan shroud was suddenly obstructing the fan blades and they overheated and blew the motor in my van. When I asked the manager about this he said there's no way they can determine that the engine wasn't blowing when I got there except that they were able to run a diagnosis on it and I drove my van there and had to have it towed out of there and had to pay $4,000 for an engine. Needless to say I would think twice before bringing my lawn mower to these guys. They were absolutely unwilling to admit that they blew my motor even though it was obvious. read more

John and the rest of the guys at TB Auto Specialists have been excellent and I must say quite patient with me over a year as we dealt with a electrical problem in the fuel relay system for my work van. It started August of 2016 and was finally fixed a year later. I would use my van and come out and it wouldn't start and sometimes it would start in 20 minutes and on several occasions it wouldn't and I would have to call AAA and tow it to TB Auto and when it arrived it would start. So we all were frustrated because it needed to be in no start mode to diagnose. And of course it was my only work vehicle which had equipment attached so I always needed the van back asap. After the initial repairs of a relay switch and wiring repair and then 6 months later a new fuse box TB Auto has never charged me for any time they put into repair and diagnostics. I have had the van back at least 3 or 4 times because of starting failures still related to the problem, John and the guys never once made excuses or charged me for time. They kept trying to find the solution and finally after several more instances of failure found a solution. And I have not been charged for the repair. Today I had a fuel leak while filling up and took the van to John and they dropped the fuel tank and found a bad clamp on the fuel fill line and replaced it for no charge. John said it was associated with the work that was done already on the fuel pump and wiring associated with fuel system. He could have charged me and I would not have known the better, but he didn't. As far as I was concerned the other problems had been fixed and I was already happy with TB Auto now I am convinced they are extremely honest and professional in their work ethics. I would recommend Mike, John, Robert, and all the guys at TB Auto for all your automotive needs. I am a female Senior Citizen - since this shop is close to my house I have been having my oil changed there for many, many years. I took my car in last week when the A/C was out. They quoted me $1,700.00 to repair. I was offered an easy payment plan. They charged me $56.00 to look at it and give me that quote. I took my car to another garage who did the work. I am now enjoying the cool air and the cost was $719.00 I think a thousand dollar difference is down right robbery! I will never return to this rip off place. read more

I took my Mitsubishi to Thunderbird Automotive to have the timing belt replaced. Everything was okay until about a month later my radiator cracked and my vehicle was disabled while I was on the highway. I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. The tech said whoever replaced my timing belt (Thunderbird Automotive) did not re-wire the wires correctly and it caused my car to overheat when it hit a certain temperature and thus cracked my radiator and broke a few other parts in the process. I had to spend over $1,000 to have it fixed. I was not very happy. I only take my car to the dealership now, it's more expensive but they know how to work on it properly. read more

Seriously the best mechanic you will ever go to. I have been going to Mike, John, and all the guys at thunderbird for 7 years now, and my opinion of them only ever improves. In those years I will admit to have occasionally price comparing, but Thunderbird always wins on service prices. And if for some reason the part cost more from thunderbird, I can research the parts myself and the parts from other places will be the lowest quality with bad ratings, thunderbirds will be good quality with high ratings. I have NEVER had to go back for repeat repairs. When it is fixed, it's fixed. End of story. After you have been in a time or two, they know you on sight, and they feel like "your mechanic". You can call with questions without worry. I have brought in used cars for advice on purchase. Mike, the owner, negotiated the price down for me based on what he saw. I just had a great experience at Thunderbird Automotive! I emailed on Saturday because I had my check engine light come on. I thought it was my alternator. Got an email back within a couple hours from Johnathan giving me a quote to check to see what the issue was. I called today and asked if I could stop by. He said to swing by and he could check a few things out. I was there for maybe 15-20 minutes tops. They quickly found that it wasn't the alternator, and determined it was the thermostat from the computer. They also noticed a sound in the back and said it was likely the brakes and that I should have it checked soon. All of the guys were very pleasant and willing to answer the questions I had. Someone who has the time to take care of me has more than earned my business. I will be back in on Saturday morning to get the thermostat fixed. I have been using this service when they still sold gasoline probably 20 years ago. They service all of my cars and I have never been disappointed. Both my cars have over 170,000 miles on them and they have serviced them since I bought them. One of my Automobiles is a classic Mark VII. Mike and John treat it like one of their own classics. Since I have special needs, they pick up and deliver my cars when servicing them. I couldn't ask for a better more trustworthy shop. I went to thunderbird Automotive Specialists because of the reviews that I read and also they were AAA approved. We had an air conditioning problem which ended up costing over 800.00. Also another a.c. hose was found to be defective and had to be ordered out of California, Jon said he would order on Monday and should be at the store no later than Wednesday, we had our car in on the previous Friday. Wednesday rolls on by and no phone call. We call up on Monday, the guy forgets to order the part, (that's not what he say's), he tries to blame it on the supplier. Mean while, I have refridgerant slowly leaking out. I get a quote of 140.00 to replace the hose, and he also says that I will have to pay for any refridgerant that has leaked since we took the car on Friday, I get that, 6 days of driving with a slight leak, but by him not following up with the supplier, now my 6 days has turned into 12, good thing we did not leave the car at the shop, as it very difficult to do your job that requires driving without a vehicle. final bill $ 203. Integrity should not be in their slogan, and I also would not go back to them for repeat business. read more

WORST SHOP EVER!!!!! The only reason I am giving one star is that there is not a zero star option. I needed a fuel pump replaced to get a diagnostic review. I was called the next day and told the job was finished but when I arrived, I was told that everything was great and that the vehicle ran fine. No sooner than I turned over the key, the loud noise that I wanted looked at originally was still there. They said it was a water pump and replaced it. I again got a call saying it was done and that the vehicle was running great and had been road tested "extensively." I picked up my vehicle and heard even more noise than before. Needless to say, no review was done, just a brush-off. I took my vehicle home and discovered that the noise was a loose tailpipe, the fuel gauge didn't work, the window was broken, and numerous leaks not even mentioned. I have now spent money to replace the window regulator, door handle, rear main seal, and other smaller items. And this week, the fuel pump failed. STAY AWAY, the crew doesn't listen and doesn't care. read more
