Came here after leaving home grown after waiting. Had the caramel sundae and took the chicken salad sandwich to go . Nathan was my server and a gem. Loved the sundae although originally forgot the pecans, the server in training quickly fixed it. Chicken salad sandwich and baked beans were awesome later at the airport! Baked beans were sweet, the way I like them. The chicken salad and bread were fresh. Would order all the same again.

So the last time I've been this place was probably about 20 yess ago. The place hasn't changed! The cute bar counter on the right side of the shop and seating on the left side. I don't think the menu has changed either! It wasn't until I got my order was when I realized the chicken salad sandwich was also the last thing I had here too! I wish I ordered something different, but it was still good! We also got the beef brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. I wish the sides were larger! I also got the special shake of the week, strawberry banana. A must try and was very good! Staff were friendly, but the young waiter looked a bit too young to be waiting tables. There's also a parklet out front so you can order your food to go and sit in the sun!

My boyfriend and I were visiting from NYC, and because this was his first time to Kansas (and actually the Midwest), he was very excited to visit an old school soda shop. Waitstaff is friendly and prompt, our food was delivered very quick, and this has been my boyfriend's favorite restaurant in Wichita. I am vegetarian and was happy to see more vegetarian options on the menu. I ordered the tomato bisque, 1/2 a grilled cheese and a side salad. I found out that all of their dressings are made in house. The soup was hot and fresh and tasted great with the sandwich. My boyfriend ordered the club sandwich and baked beans. We also opted for a chocolate banana malt. The prices were a little high, but the ambiance and experience made up for it. Everything we ordered tasted great and I would come back and visit again before the end of my trip.

Cozy little diner style restaurant with comfort foods and a soda fountain style interior. The location has lots of character from old refrigerators in the front of the restaurant to wooden booths and a counter that you can sit at too. It reminded of an old soda shop. The prices were reasonable. The portions were generous. We had the lasagna, open faced quesadilla, a side salad which even included alfalfa sprouts and cheese :), ice cream sundae and cheesecake. The food was served hot and there was a little bit of a wait since it was made to order. The server was friendly and attentive. Kind of the place you can count on always getting something simple and freshly prepared. This place isn't fancy. It's clean and has character. I'd go back again the next time I'm in The neighborhood.

Five stars for the atmosphere. Unfortunately the food, while good, is rather average. This place is worth the visit for the atmosphere alone. It's like stepping back into the first half of the last century right down to the soda jerks. You feel as if I've stepped into a restaurant during the 1930's or '40's. The offer a daily blue plate special. When we stopped in it was chicken enchiladas. They were good, bit not Mexican restaurant good. My wife had the club sandwich. Again it was good, but it's just a club sandwich. Overall a unique experience but not a five star dining experience. Then again, it's not meant to be. It appears to be intended to keep the experience as that of the first half of the last century, and that they do very well

Lots of local flare and character. Simple dishes made well. You have to try some house soda/pop and or ice cream. It's impressive what they can do in such a small cooking space

Old Tasty Mill Shop --4/5/21 Case summary: A local favorite for just about any appetite! With a rotating "blue plate special" give the Old Tasty Mill Shop a try. Ambience 5/5 Food 4.5/5 Service 5/5 Overall 5/5 Ambience 5/5 I was short on time for lunch and stopped by the Old Tasty Mill Shop for a quick bite. Seating included four tops surrounded by booths and finally there is soda counter bar stools. Framed photographs of the city throughout the years adorn the walls makes for a pleasing environment. Clear barriers were in place between the booths as it is the time of COVID-19. Staff frequently cleaned the booths and all wore masks during my visit. Finally the old soda fountain counter perfectly pays tribute to the original roots. Food 4.5/5 On this particular visit, I ordered a cup of tomato bisque and the muffaleta sandwich with a side of chips. The bisque was pleasant, served hot and included a wheat roll which was perfect for dipping. Moving on to the muffaleta my only complaint was instead of the traditional muffaleta bread, they instead used a Kaiser roll. I completely understand when you are serving something like 15 different sandwiches you have to make sacrifices to keep the orders manageable, but having just been to Central Grocery and Deli in New Orleans (THE quintessential muffaletta) it did leave a little wanting. The cheese, meats and olive spread were consistent throughout and made for a good sandwich overall. Service and Overall thoughts 5/5 Service was prompt and my water was regularly filled through my quick lunch. She was pleasant and gave me a quick run-down of the menu in addition to the rotating specials once I was seated. Overall this was a great choice when in downtown Wichita for a quick bite to eat. On this particular day, the "blue plate special" was the enchilada plate which I saw was very popular. Perhaps I would give this another try on my next visit. Pro tip: Order a malt or milkshake during your visit.

Absolutely adored coming here for early lunch @ 11:00AM and could fully understand why it's SRO most of the time .. .. Amazing, old time interior makes you feel like you've stepped back in time! Just check out the wood refrigerator just inside the entrance .. .. Ordered their RUEBEN sandwich and it was IDEAL! Delicious on the marble rye that was not over-toasted, delicious, and just enough .. .. And, there's lots of parking available near the shop .. .. THANKS OLD MILL!!

The dressing wasn't very creamy, the dressing needed more Parmesan cheese in it. I think they need to change the dressing recipe. The dressing didn't have much flavor unfortunately. On a positive note, I had never had ceviche and I asked if I could sample it and the kind clerk gave me a huge sample. It wasn't bad either just no flavor other than the jalapeno. Maybe some garlic would spice it up? but I don't know if ceviche typically has garlic. Anywho I really like the restaurant. They have a huge menu. I think I prefer their breakfast menu.

They have plenty of breakfast and lunch options. I ordered a Wichita club and a 5 pc BBQ chicken wings. The sandwich was good, just not enough mayo, which was ok because they have extra condiments on each table. They give you some sauce on the side that's similar to 1000 island dressing so I used that also and it turned out pretty tasty. It's a pretty big sandwich (3 big slices of sourdough bread) but could have used more lettuce . The meat was good and very thinly sliced. I didn't have room to eat the chicken wings there so I took them home. They look delicious and are covered in plenty of sauce. Good sized wings and they have other flavors also. Service was quick, friendly and easy. The place was also very clean with plenty of seating and tables.

Honestly, the meat was almost overwhelming but I powered through. I do wish they included more of the additional toppings I requested, but i could've said something as well. I just get so overwhelmed in JMS (Jersey Mikes Subs) everyone acts and talks like they know what is going on at any given moment and I am sorry I DO NOT. It is a me problem, I know. But at this age, i just get confused so easily. I didn't know I had to ASK for mayo on my sub the first time i went, i thought it was given ... and it was my mistake that cost me my pleasure. every store has just been overstimulating. so yes, the food is very delicious... ALWAYS get it MIKES way...you literally cannot eat a sub without letting MIKE get his grubby hands shove his meat in between your buns!!! I think the only think that is lacking is an additional sauce to dip it in (i've been a ride or die for the MR. John of the Jimmy spicy ranch) I could be biased, but I just love sauce. Now what I really want to talk about is the chocolate chunk cookies... oh my. I truly don't think any other cookie can top this. it's the perfect size, the dough isn't too oily, the chocolate is thick but smooth. and its not too sugary tasting either. I don't like sweets but these cookies get me as gluttonous as a fat medieval king (like with a big turkey leg and stew except its just these cookies) I probably will be back just for the cookies tbh.

When we walked in, immediately we got seated (it was lunch on a Saturday)--got us a nice little booth with some green lit ambiance. The server checked on us to get our drinks quickly and then returned to take our order--definitely did an awesome job and thanks to the staff for all their work. Other reviews mentioned that the food wasn't necessarily the best or made in house--I can't speak to that, but I will say that the sandwich and potato salad hit the spot for me. This was exactly what I was looking for as a quick bite! I got the Famous #8 with potato salad as a side, and I ate that all up. They also had some domestic and local beers on draft, so I got an El Dorado company brew, and it hit the spot. The general Irish vibe was great, and if I get back to Wichita, I'll definitely be planning to hit up the Artichoke!

As BLTs go, it was difficult to eat; the shredded lettuce was a fail, fallout everywhere, and not sure what kind of mayo they used but the flavor was not what I was expecting at all. The salad was sad for the up charge and similarly difficult to eat. My husband's sandwich was better, their signature number 8, but nothing to TikTok about. Service: 4/5 Good but not that friendly compared to the vibes the bar was giving. There was a disconnect somewhere. Ambiance: 3/5 The music started out too loud for how dead the bar was. Literally, it was us and about 6 other people but the live music was extremely loud. The singers were clearly professionals but they set themselves up for a fuller bar and were a little louder than the space required with that few people. I get that live music is loud and they eventually adjusted but initially it was jarring. They were good, but the lead singer was louder than her accompanying singer/ guitarist. I felt sad that they didn't get the chance to mix themselves better at the outset. Overall, this place should cut down their menu to items that are their best and probably have their live singers mix taking into account the number of patrons. I would probably come back but not as my first choice.
