Who says you have to cross the bridge to SF to have a 5-star meal? I was fortunate enough to attend a pop-up dinner @ Tiburon Wine last week. This month's star chef was none other than Gabe Charpentier from Bungalow 44 in Mill Valley. In previous months, Tib Wine has hosted other notable chefs (Ron Siegel, Gordon Drysdale, Todd Shoberg, Scott Howard, to name a few). But this was my first pop-up experience and boy oh boy... it did not disappoint. Guests were treated to an exquisite 5-course tasting menu. Each course was paired with a perfect wine (everything from Champagne to Cabernet Sauvignon to Moscato). The food was fantastic. And the wine pours were extremely generous. My favorite dishes of the evening were the Cauliflower Soup and the Coffee-Rubbed Rib-Eye of Beef with spring peas & onions, and saffron potatoes. I'm normally not one to have a sweet tooth, but the Lemongrass Custard with pineapple, coconut, and Thai Basil was an absolute joy-gasm. Each dish was beautifully presented (check out the photos I posted). The whole dinner with wine pairings + tax & gratuity was $150. So if you're a savvy Bay Area diner, you know that this meal was a steal. And if that wasn't enough, all guests could then purchase wine from the store at a discount. Talk about a win-win! And that vastness of knowledge has successfully been manifested in Tiburon Wine. A first rate, artfully curated selection of vinos to wet your wine loving whistle. The collection covers the right wall, while the seating lines the left wall. It's small & intimate. There is zero pretension. Jerry is more musician in demeanor than he is "conventional" wine aficionado. The focus isn't on what or how much you know about wine. The focus is on what you personally appreciate. Just let the man know what your usual preferences are, & he goes to work on hooking you up w something you'll love. I was impressed by how he seemingly welcomes the challenge of introducing you to something that you'll fall for. I told him a couple of Pinots I've had recently that I really liked, & he had me taste 3, w the 3rd one totally nailing it. At only 35 bucks a bottle, it was affordable too. Win win. Clearly passionate, his enthusiasm is refreshing & contagious. Good wine should be available at every price point. And at Tiburon Wine, it is. 5 stars. read more

Happened upon this quaint shop on a local stroll. Small and currently closed to sampling and in-store shopping. It didn't matter, Jerry and his co-worker were full of energy and enthusiasm despite the limitations. There were other people waiting for service so we tried to be as efficient as possible. Jerry took his time and made sure we got just what we wanted. We were actually looking for one bottle of wine but due to his enthusiasm, we bought three. Such is life. Great place, we'll be back. I'd love to shop the selection in person and enjoy a glass (or two) inside the shop sometime. Highly recommended. read more

Picture it now... It's a beautiful Sunday. The sun is shining. The temp is perfection and you are freshly showered and ready to go brunch it up with your friend in Sausalito. You jump in your car, head to the gas station, fill up your tank only to find your car now won't start. Shitballs! You then push your car while wearing a cute girlie dress (because that's what real women do) around the corner to a mechanic and after 20 minutes, a fellow supershero arrives to give you a jump. Knowing now that the car should probably run for at least 45 minutes to recharge the battery, what on Earth do you do? Oooh, I know! You text your buddy Nish and the two of you drive to Tiburon to check out this neat little wine shop he knows about! Because obviously! Can't let a shower go to waste! Until Sunday, I never knew this place existed, but I am sooo glad I know about it now! It's perfection. A wine shop/wine bar with an incredible array of wines and a charming owner (Jerry) who really knows what's what. I have a penchant for really weird, funky, barnyardy red wines and as soon as I described what I wanted, he knew exactly what to pour me! He then turned me onto a rose that made the angels sing and finally closed out our hang with a bright, crisp and delightful white. I couldn't have been happier with this unexpected journey of a day and the vino gem it produced. I will definitely be back soon to explore more wines and you should too. Thanks Jerry! I visited this shop today after a very nice ladies lunch with the intention of buying a few bottles of wine, but left after extremely rude comments from the owner. He told us children were not allowed which is understandable but instead of being kind, he said "you can go down to the grocery store where kids are allowed" in a very condescending and rude manner. There was also no sign outside indicating no kids are allowed. I was with a group of moms so some of us could have easily waited outside with the children while one of us shopped as we did with the spice shop next door. However, his rudeness made us leave immediately. Parents with children, don't bother stopping in here. He made it very clear we are not welcomed. read more

After a long walk on a hot day, we landed here, sitting at 1 of 2 tables on the shaded patio in front. We tried to scan the QR code menus, but neither of them worked, so we requested physical menus. The owner/server told us to walk inside to the bar so we could look at all the wines as most aren't on the menu. We were enjoying sitting in the shade but seeing as he wouldn't bring us menus, agreed to walk to the bar. At the bar, we described the kind of wine we wanted, and he didn't have that, but he suggested a similar wine, which he said was $35. We agreed to buy a bottle. We enjoyed the wine and at the end when it was time to pay, were surprised to receive a bill for $48. We inquired how the $35 bottle ended up being $48 and the owner/server explained they charge a $10 corkage fee. I'm only familiar with corkage fees when you bring your own bottle of wine to an establishment, but just know this place charges a corkage fee sometimes even if you buy their wine. That in and of itself is surprising but perhaps understandable they have to add extra fees to pay theor rent in Tiburon, but it would've made sense for him to have told us that when he told us the price of the wine bottle, especially since we weren't given menus after asking for them. It was still an enjoyable, quiet spot, surprisingly not busy on a holiday weekend given other places had a long wait time, but the service was overall not helpful or kind. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. SO RUDE!!!! Walked in, no greeting at all. The guy just sat in his back office and glanced at us and did not even move. THEN SOMEONE ELSE CAME IN, AND THE WORKER/OWNER ADDRESSES THAT PERSON!!!!! Not sure if it was just a worker or owner).... but he literally walks past us to greet the person behind us as if that person was 100x more important than us. It was so incredibly rude!!! Elegent and tasteful, the lights in this establishment were the precise blend of flamboyant and fancy necessary to elucidate to this humble reviewers mind on how superior of an establishment Tiberon Wines is. A chandelier, positioned in the oh so famous and esthetically pleasing golden ratio between two walls. Red and blue piercing rays, pointed towards the bottles, shimmering with refracted glee and advertising their succulent wares. Glittering white fairy lights strewn between each shelf, titillating and tantalizing. Last but not least, the brilliant and contrasting rays of green and red disco lighting that pulled the whole ensemble out of the ennui inducing realm of elegance and into the category of intriguing. The lighting was simply a majestic masterpiece of photophillic paraphernalia. Five stars. The wine was good too, I guess. read more

Looked to have a great selection of wine at good prices. My wife and I went there this last Saturday went inside we were greeted nicely by Jerry. When he asked how could he help we said that we are looking for something Chilled. Then I think he thought he was being funny but to us he was an ass. He pointed at his fridge right in front of us that we were looking at and said " that refrigerator keeps things cold it's not just here for show or I would be getting my money back" then started laughing. It was very rude he could of just maybe suggest a few things he had chilled and we would of bought a bottle but nope. So we went down the road to the Champagne place it was great and nice people! Biked to Tiburon looking for a treat to enjoy before taking the Ferry back to SF and was totally delighted to find Tiburon Wine! Stopped in for a small tasting flight and left sad to not have brought a bigger bag. My Wife and I were so surprised to find this little gem on a tree lined shaded street with great seats out front to enjoy the breeze. I went there to enjoy a glass of wine. A glass of wine was about half prize of a bottle. So I purchased the whole bottle instead of two glasses of wine. Both the people working here gave us enough attitude that we didn't want to give them our money and left without ordering. No hi come on in welcome! No hi my name is what would you like? It was a terse interrogation about whether we had kids, how big was our party, etc. And we were told - not asked or invited - to sit. The employee who gave us menus only said we should buy a bottle instead of a glass. No introduction, no questions on what we liked to drink. We also saw them snap at a family who did have kids in the store about the kids being too close to the wine. I didn't give them fewer stars because their wine might actually be good. Didn't try any. As soon as we walked into the tasting room we had the worst customer service experience ever today going to Tiburon Wine for 5 min. First, the bartender was very pretentious, arrogant and unfriendly. We were trying to guid the bartender on our pallet and he took it very offensively treating us like a burden. We still wanted to try out a flight (hey we were trying to give the place a chance) and he preceded to ask my husband and I to share a table outside with a complete stranger... what? In covid times? I was shocked. After he couldn't seat us, we were forced to leave which ended up being a blessing in disguise. My husband and I are both very knowledgeable about wine but of course we always want to learn more and it's sad that we were met with someone who clearly didn't want to serve us. I would not recommend this place, but go down the road to the Caviar company for the best service ever. read more
