A man came out of the establishment screaming that I need to get off his property. I told you my plans and he said he doesn't care. I said you need to be nicer to people and he told me he doesn't want customers like me. I've never been treated this way by a store manager or worker anywhere. I didn't understand the level of aggression.. I mean if you think I'm abusing your parking lot just say "excuse me this is for my store". Then I'd explain and return to buy something. Rather than that... crazy. Hope this is not indicative or Marin liquor store experiences.. completely over the top.

"Marin Beverage Outlet: Where Vapes Go to Die"…read more These people are selling towell hd crap vapes , the most fake vapes I've had in Marin , will be informing others immediately, sad to see these people live fake lives like their vapes , what else are they selling that's fake ? Their liquor , everything counterfeit lol . I should've known something was off when I picked up the vape -- the packaging looked like it was printed on a toaster. No seal, weird font, crooked barcode... but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. The flavor? Burnt popcorn mixed with battery acid. I've had campfires that tasted smoother. It hit like it had already lived nine lives before I even opened it. Tried to scan the verification code just to make sure, and surprise -- it didn't even register on the brand's website. Not "invalid," not "expired," just "this product doesn't exist." At that point, I realized neither does their integrity. And let's talk about the guys behind the counter. I'm convinced they've been "taste testing" the stock -- they looked higher than the prices on their fake Elf Bars. You know that glazed-over, "I've been hitting my own inventory since sunrise" look? Yeah, that. This place isn't a store; it's a graveyard for fake vapes and customer trust. Save your lungs, your wallet, and your brain cells. Marin Beverage Outlet is basically the Wish.com version of a smoke shop.

I brought this up the the staffer who went and checked the shelf and came back and told me that this was an un-vintaged wine. I was like WTF? I clearly has a vintage and I bought a 2017. He explained to me that they just sell whatever corporate sends them and that he has no control over what shows up. He was able to change it on the website almost immediately though to 2019. I needed the wine for an event the next day so I had no choice but to take the new vintage. I sent an email to both corporate and the store manager thinking that they would make some amends. The manager called me the next day and politely explained that they have no control over what shows up on the website and that they just shelve what is sent to them by corporate. In addition he explained what was meant by "un-vintaged." Evidently what that means is that they don't stock and store several vintages like they do with some wines and that because corporate doesn't always update what they've been shipped this can sometimes occur. OK, so he talked me down and I guess I was convinced that it wasn't the store's fault. But still I feel like they should have made some monetary amends for the mistake they made as a corporate entity. so, I was gong to leave it along. But today almost a week later I get an email from corporate saying: Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out to Customer Care about this. Per the information from your order 355673938, the La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2019 is indeed the correct vintage/item purchased on the order. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. What the actual heck? Did they not even see my original email that VERIFIES that my order was a 2017 vintage. Sheesh, whatever so done with the corporate BS. I will not be returning to this store.

Vintage is my go-to place for that next out-of-the ordinary bottle of bourbon and a last minute bottle of wine when in Mill Valley. Almost every time I am in MV I swing by here to see what bourbons they have on the shelf. This is where I discovered Rowen's Creek (or was it Noah's Mill). This is where I picked up that Pappy Van Winkle 15 year at a decent price. The list goes on. The selection isn't the largest, but they always have interesting ones to choose from. Yes, they have Knob Creek and Makers and some of the other standards, but I can get those at Safeway if I want. I go here for Black Maple Hill, Willet Pot Still Reserve, Elijah Craig 18 year, or the aforementioned Pappy Van Winkle. They also have a nice good selection of wine. And the prices aren't too bad.

Some folks in my group wanted fresh coffee, sodas and juices from the cold case, pre-packaged deli items, bbq from the grill, and to use the restroom. Don't let the size of this market fool you into believing they are a one trick pony. Besides groceries they have alot to offer. The bbq stand (outside near the back parking lot), plants, gifts, groceries, fresh seafood and meat counters, sandwich and deli counter, self serve hot prepared food bar, coffee and pastries bar, bar ( in the back patio facing the marina), and individual cold case drinks... and that is not everything. They have a backyard patio area and a small indoor seating area. During the summer, live music is held out in the patio. Everyone enjoyed the food items they purchased. Great offerings, prices (normal and comparable to simple places in the area), clean, organized, and beautiful simple decor and aesthetics. Plus they have the BBQ stand out front. It is open daily 11:39am-2pm. Serving up chicken (thigh $8.95, plate $18.95), Miller hot dog $8.95 and tri tip. I have yet to try the tri tip, but the chicken and hot dog are fantastic. Mmm. And I have to give a shout out to the houseplant selection. It caught the eye of some family members, so much so they bought a couple. Beautiful, healthy plants that cost nearly 40% less than the cheapest big box store in our hometown.

I literally came in to buy some beverages, ice cream and gum, and I stumbled upon a 4-pack of soft two-ply T.P. just sitting there untouched on the shelf. I couldn't believe my weary, shelter-in-place eyes. It was like accidentally discovering the Holy Grail! Best of all, I didn't have to fight with anyone over it. There wasn't a long line out the door to grab a roll. It wasn't overpriced because of the demand. I just simply brought it to the cash register and paid for it. Amazing! As I've said in my previous review, this liquor store isn't in the best neighborhood of San Rafael. There are usually some transients and dodgy-looking characters hanging in front of the store. And on more than one occasion, I've seen broken glass on the street (which leads me to believe that there's the occasional car break-in). But if you shop here in the daytime, you should be fine. And it sure beats waiting in the long, crazy lines at Safeway. I was so happy about my Toilet Paper discovery that I treated myself to a bottle of tequila to use for my next Facetime happy hour. Thanks for coming to my rescue, Colonial Liquors!
