Let me give y'all a quick rundown. I played just to show the entire meal. Sauce added before eating. Sweet potato - tastes like a sweet potatoes pie without the crust, but with walnuts added. BBQ beans - baked beans need meat..... remember that. There was also a succulent taste of Sweet bbq sauce mixed in. Hush puppies - eat them while they are hot. Reminds me of sweet cornbread bread that has been fried. I had the Chopped pork with vintage sauce. Thumbs up. The Chopped brisket with vinegar sauce was good. I liked it better when I added a spicy BBQ sauce to it. The Ribs, the ribs, the ribs..... tender to the bite and passed the fall off bones test. In the top three of the worst BBQ restaurants I've ever eaten at. The pork has no flavor at all unless you load it up with BBQ sauce. Even then the meat tastes like it's been steamed and not cooked over flame or even smoked to give it some flavor. Not to mention that it's "chopped" pork so all that fat is mixed right in there trying to be hidden. Very Bland. The staff were very nice but I will be eating better after this. read more

I've tried TMR twice now, the first time was shortly after they opened and the last time was yesterday. I was a bit disappointed with the meat as it didn't carry the smoky flavor i'm used to when I have BBQ. I ordered a combo plate with Ribs, Chicken, Brisket with a side of french fries and sweet potato casserole. None of the meat had a visible smoke ring and the ribs did not have the texture I expected from smoked ribs, the chicken was also dry and did not carry a lot of flavor, the sliced brisket was tender but very mid on flavor...the meat was edible when doused with bbq sauce. The sides however were very good, the hushpuppies were flavorful and not too sweet, french fries were nice and crispy and well seasoned, and the sweet potato casserole was rich and flavorful but not too decadent. The pork was tough and dry and the slaw on each of the sandwiches was barely noticeable. Only 2 hush puppies came with the plate order. I spent almost 44 dollars and threw most of it out. Our second time here and it was very good. My wife had the BBQ salad with chopped pork. She liked it very much. I had the two meat platter with sliced brisket and chopped pork. It came with hush puppies which are exceptional. I also ordered Mac and cheese, baked beans and cole slaw to share. The food is top notch but no better than the terrific service. This place used to be wonderful, with the female manager being very friendly, but during our most recent visit both she and a middle-aged male (owners?) were present at which time he was quite rude to me and my family! I was curious if it was due to the extremely slow business that was putting them in a negative mood, but you shouldn't take out your frustrations on customers who help yall stay in business and pay for you to earn a living!! My 1st time patronizing this business and my LAST!! My order was not properly filled and tho I do understand human error it's the recovery of service that maintains my business. Owner was condescending and not helpful. I spent $61 and was offered a paltry $2.99 service recovery!! I'm insulted!! I usually order @ least $70 of Bbq weekly!! Almost $300 on BBQ per month. Back 2 Smoke Pit, Midwood Smoke house, Rock Store Bbq, City Bbq or Sonny's for my business. Nc has 2 many great BBQ restaurants to accept poor customer service!! Now they have raised the prices again...$17 for a sandwich, side and a drink. REALLY??? I can get a sit down meal at Bullocks BBQ for $12 (Brisket plus 2 sides and hushpuppys) or a sandwich for $3.95 or Lg for $5.75. Tried the barbecue here for the first time tonight. The meat was tender and delicious. The brisket and pulled pork were hits, as were the ribs. The sides were good- especially the fried okra which had a light batter. Next time, I plan to try other sides and have the ribs for myself. There is counter order, with meals delivered to the table.
