Poor customer service I came exactly 10 minutes before they closed and was planning on staying no more than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I was reminded multiple times by different people working there that they were closing. And the last one was just flat out rude about it. I was literally only interested in the pant section to my size which took one minute. I saw a lot of pacsun clothes. Kind of gave me like a goodwill vibe. Nothing special. This is a wonderful shop! I think some past reviewers are confused--it is staffed 100% by volunteers. If you show up 1 min before closing, of course they are going to tell you they are closing! Most of the workers have places to be (paid jobs, kids to pick up from school, etc). All the proceeds from the store go towards scholarships for local students with financial need, community philanthropies in the South Bay like Communities Child, Boys & Girls Club, Harbor Interfaith, Toberman Center, S.H.A.W.L. Women's Shelter, Beacon House, St. Peter & Paul Poverty Center and other local helping organizations. If you are looking for some hidden gems and want to help the local community at the same time, this is the place for you! read more

Ticktocker Thrift Shop is one of those privately owned thrift stores that has been around forever. In that it is privately operated, it doesn't have the massive quantity of items that you may find it one of the large chain thrift stores. This being said, this does not take away from the fact that you can find some truly unique and interesting items at this thrift shop. Ticktocker Is located in the heart of the San Pedro shopping district on 6th Street. This is obviously a unique and art filled area of the city. This is a great shop to check out if you've just had lunch at one of the nearby restaurants. As it is located on 6th Street, parking is never a problem. There is metered parking all along the street and it is easy to find an open spot. Inside the store itself, you will find a well laid out shopping space. It is predominately filled with clothing with some other items along the walls. They also generally offer a nice selection of jewelry at the front counter. The staff that works here are volunteers. As this is the case, they are always very friendly and happy to help you with anything that you need. Overall, though small, this is a fun thrift store to shop at. LOVE THIS PLACE. Was in the area and wanted to check out some thrift shops. First off, one thing you should know is everybody that works here are volunteers, so if you come in just before closing time, they won't be happy because they probably have to get to their larger priority either school or work outside of this volunteering experience. They had lots of options to choose from here! Loved a good section of college clothes and everything was basically under $5 unless it was designer. They also were having a 50% off sale, so the deals were perfect! Definitely recommend coming here! read more

But the service blows me away as much as the great deals I get for my family . Today I asked for help - I'm really not cool enough to choose without my darling granddaughters. This place is well-located, right in the heart of the San Pedro arts district. I saw mostly clothing, and lots of it. There were some nice things, in fact. But I no longer buy any clothing in thrift shops, ever since I brought home carpet beetles in an old coat.....many years ago. Since then, I've bought no more than a handful of clothing items at thrift stores. But furniture & collectibles are another story. I probably would no longer buy any upholstered furniture second-hand, however, due to the current bedbug invasion. I saw some overpriced furniture out in front of Ticktocker.......like a horrible beat-up ottoman for 10 bucks. It was disgusting. They could not pay me 10 bucks to haul it away. So this place is probably not for me. But service was friendly. And there were plenty of customers milling around inside, so to each his own. Oh btw, the store, operated by the National Charity League, Inc., is staffed by all volunteers, and proceeds go to South Bay charities & scholarships for students. This thrift shop has very upscale items for unbelievably low prices. If you haven't stopped by this place, you have got to! You won't be sorry. They have really nice clothes for babies, children, women and men, as well as shoes and home accessories. The sales people are always very nice, which is impressive since they are all volunteers! While trying to walk off breakfast, we can across this thrift shop. Neither from the outside or inside could you identify this is a thrift shop. Which is really nice! The store is well laid out and the staff is very polite. They don't snub their noses at people or anything to make you feel ashamed for shopping at a thrift shop. The pricing is incredible! I couldn't believe how discounted some of the items were and seeing the appreciation from their customers. I over heard a sales representative tell a customer, "if you like something now, it probably won't be here tomorrow. So it's best to grab it now while you can." love this store! it's organized beautifully, there are a TON of hidden gems, and the workers are very helpful and polite. i've gone twice in the last two days, each time leaving with two or three bags of clothing/shoes/jewelry, and altogether have spent just under $100. prices are insanely affordable, merchandise is clean, and altogether i highly recommend this as a stop on a thriftung run. read more

I love visiting the San Pedro farmers market on Fridays when I work in San Pedro, and this little shop is right on the strip so I have walked through a few times. The selection consists mainly of clothing with a very limited selection of housewares, furniture or books. Since I'm not a big clothes buyer when I thrift, I have yet to be impressed. On a positive note, its clean and the staff is always very friendly when I have walked in. If I had to choose, I would stick to the Salvation Army on the corner & let the Ticktocker keep tick-tocking without me. read more

Love this place! My whole family shops here. I always find something one of a kind at this thrift shop. As a thrift center connoisseur I really appreciate the cleanliness and staff that this shop has to offer. Since most of the clothes are donated by PV locals, I usually find some fantastic stuff I would never be able to afford otherwise. Also, because of their strict policies (no holes, stains, etc- have no fear...it goes to the homeless), the stuff is always in great shape! I can't even tell you how many things (designer and old school vintage) I have gotten here over the years and upon wearing them received rave reviews. When asked by friends where you purchased such an amazing find, you can simply wink and walk away or scream, "The thrift shop!" I'd like to believe I am more coy, but in actuality I am the latter. read more

Its worth stopping by. Yes 20 dollars can get you a lot here. The clothes dont smell, tons of name-brands, theyre also in great condition too. The price of the clothes depends on the style. For example a basic tank can cost 3 bucks there while a detailed tank cost 6 bucks. They have a great selection in jewelery, shoes and handbags. The staff is incredibly friendly. At first, when I entered and saw a little girl's top for $10, I thought, "Oh boy, better look around before you give up on this shop." I did and found some great deals, with wonderful name brands including some indie labels. I found Coco of California (vintage), lots of Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Oilily sandals, and more. I got a deal since it was buy 1 pair of pants get one free (cost per pair came to $1.25 each!) and got some cool French pants made of linen, a pair of White/Black pants with the $98 store price tag still attached, Banana Republic khakis and more. The staff was great, friendly and patient when I went back to get my 2nd pair of free pants. Give it a go, you just might find something really nice! read more

I am sorry Joan, but I would have to disagree. I have been going to the Ticktocker Thrift Shop for many years and absolutely love it. Most thrift shops that I have been to, and I have been to a lot, sell junk. The Ticktocker Thrift holds the items they sell to high standards. Items can have no holes or stains, if they do they are donated to homeless shelters. One of my favorite parts about the shop is that the items they sell come from upscale places. I have found items from Banana Republic, J. Crew, etc. Many with the tags still on. I have also bought numerous pairs of Rock and Republic, Seven, Citizens of Humanity, Diesel. and Miss Sixty jeans. Walk in any day of the week and you are guaranteed to find a high end brand in the thrift shop, and these items are NEVER overpriced. And even if that Ottoman was too overpriced for your taste, if items don't sell quickly, the price is lowered. read more

This place has great clothing. There are two sections, one that is boutique quality clothing and then regular clothing. The boutique items have price tags and are designer type clothes. The regular clothing prices are listed on the rounders, so you just have to be able to read. The best time to come is when they switch the clothing which is twice a year. My friend got her designer wedding dress here for $100.00. I go about once a month and always find something. Parking is not bad. You can park for free on 5th street and cut through the court house parking lot to get to it quickly. read more

First off, let me say I'm a white middle aged woman who frequents this shop. The cashiers tend to size me up before telling me the prices. If you are dark skinned you can probably save 50%, and if you don't speak English and keep shrugging your shoulders like you don't understand the clerk, you may even get something for free. These wealthy do-gooders feel they are serving mankind by giving to the poor while stealing from people like me (i.e. overcharging). With each item they ring up (and it takes 2 of them to do this, by the way) they give a commentary....oh, isn't this cute? This was expensive! My daughter has one just like this! I really don't give a s*it what you think, lady, I just want to pay for the fricken thing and get back to work. They also swear they don't sell anything with spots or tears. BS!!!!!!! If that's the case they need to give half the store away. Interestingly enough, they once had a book for sale titled something like this: Common Spanish Phrases to Communicate With Your Housekeeper. They are a bunch of ignorant women who married up. By the way, their prep-school daughters don't know how to make change when they work the register. Too used to shopping on daddy's plastic I guess. If you show up less than 30 minutes before closing time they can't wait to get rid of you....closing in 29 minutes, closing in 14 minutes, bring all your purchases to the front. Fact is, they all have to skeedaddle out of there to get home and check on the housekeeper, take Amber to horseback riding lessons, and Blake to soccer practice. All the while hubby's being serviced by the housekeeper. Aye Maria!!!! I forgot to mention that one day a nice lady came in and brought 3 huge bags full of goods she wanted to donate and the ladies (you know, the lawyers, scientists and upper management ones, refused!!!! They told her they only take donations from "their own members". Ugh! I told the woman to take her donations to the Beacon House thrift store located beneath the YWCA on 9th St. They are glad to accept what the hoity toity's don't approve of. Shame on Ticky Tacky. UPDATE!!!!!! Today while I was shopping there was quite a commotion going on at the checkout...seems they wouldn't let some woman pay for her stuff because she told them they "size up" their customers and then decide what price to charge. The woman was adamant that she wanted to make her purchase, and when another customer offered to pay for her things they told her they were not selling anything to her either. I think if the manager had any brains she would have quickly collected the money from the vocal customer and gotten her out of the shop quickly. But instead the manager called the police and there was a big scene. F bombs were flying and it all made the Ticky Tacky Ladies look stupid. Should have nipped it in the bud, but they probably don't know how to handle situations like this. After all, they are mere volunteers, accountants, scientists, and upper management type. They have no skill at social situations, unlike the therapists that treat them :) read more

This little shop is a hidden treasure. The quality of the merchandise is very high and the selection is great. I found a pair of true reliqion jeans for $10--they have loads of high-end name brand clothing (roxy, billabong, oakley, juicy couture, seven, lucky etc.) They even have a special "designer" area with very high end designer clothes like Donna Karen and St. John Knits. Lots of sporting goods (great for ski season when you don't want to spend too much on new things--what they sell is in really good condition). Love the books, toys and housewares and bags. Often, I can find something brand new with tags on to make my day. The shop is clean and the staff is friendly. A fun treasure hunt! read more
