We've been taking our dogs to Tidewater Animal Clinic for a few months now and have really liked them! All the staff is kind. There isn't one person who is rude or off putting. They're all very nice and they genuinely care about our dogs. They pet them and interact with them. They have answered all my questions without judgement. We've had our oldest dog for 6 years, and we've had our fair share of vets, this is by far the best one we've ever gone to! I am new to the area and went to get one of our pets established with a well visit and update a due vaccination. The following Monday I noticed that the same pet was bit by a snake. Took her to the vet as an emergency to be seen. Did the bloodwork which came back normal except one test for clotting, which was only .7 above the range. Was given antibiotics, pain medication and instructions to administer Benadryl. Made a follow up appointment for Wednesday, which they ran the same coagulation blood test and came back with numbers that were way off the charts. The vet did say the numbers seem strange due to the fact that there were no additional bruising and the swelling has gone down considerably. Which would indicate a venomous snake bit. Was instructed to take her to one of two ER Vet Hospitals that had the anti-venom. I took her to the closet one went through a treatment plan including anti-venom, blood platelets and along with up to two days in the hospital. Left the ER and my pet behind and within the hour I received a phone call from the ER stating they ran the I blood work, and all numbers were normal. I went back to pick her up the same day. The day cost me extreme emotion not to mention the stress that was put on my pet and the Finacial burden that was not necessary, had the Vet looked at the pet and not just numbers a computer spits out. The information from a computer is only as good as the information that is put into it. I will not be taking any of my pets there in the future. This is poor customer service. read more

Worst animal clinic in Suffolk, Virginia! Please do your research before bringing your animal to this clinic. Reading reviews is not enough, as Tidewater Animal Clinic deletes negative reviews from their Facebook page or blocks users causing review to be deleted. This clinic cares more about profit than caring for your pet and countless experiences with many pet owners prove that. Owner is sad and enables his staff to be awful! Awful customer service at the front lines! The clinic nickel-and-dimes customers and put pet wellbeing secondary to petty issues. I could speak about my situation, but I leave it up to you to see for yourself. Since leaving this clinic I have heard from others about their bad experience, which explains their lack of following on social media. Do your research. The area is flooded with amazing Veterinary clinics, including Academy Animal Care! UPDATE: Because many have contacted me to ask specifics. I arrived a few minutes late (less than 10 minutes), although the clinic has a different opinion or maybe their clocks are ahead. Being late is not good and I didn't mean to arrive a few minutes late, but I work during that time, had to take some time off and life happens. During the check-in process I was never informed that I was going to be charged extra. It is their responsibility to inform the customer of the extra charge before services are rendered!!! After my visit when i went to pay, I was informed of the extra charge by the receptionist. I disputed the charge and she said that the 'office manager' could wave it, so she called her so I could speak with her. During that visit I had elected 2 additional services for my pup that were not needed, as the veterinarian said my pup looked fine and healthy. I don't mind spending the extra money, as long as it is for the benefit of my pup, not a ridiculous charge, without even a warning, when this was my first time late. I also want to point out that the waiting room was EMPTY when I came in (except for one person checking out) and when I left. The office manager not only refused to waive the charge, she lacked tact and communication skills. She went as far as telling me that I had taken too much of the veterinarian's time with my questions. Then she offered to collect my records and send them to a new vet of my choice. I could not believe I was being treated that way. I paid my money and vouched never to return. BUT the nightmare didn't end there. My pup had not been feeling well and I asked for extra tests to be done and the veterinarian said she would call me with results the next day. She even peeked her head out when I was checking out to confirm she would call me. The next day my pup was still not feeling well. I did not receive the phone call with the results i paid for until two days later and only after several emails I sent to the clinic pleading to speak with management and for assistance reading results they had sent via email. Meanwhile my pup was suffering and I was so worried. The clinic's focus became the negative incident of me being a few minutes late (on a slow day for them) and $20 that lost them a client. My sick puppy was not a concern. The owner could not care less and could not be bothered to speak with a client. I will never look back. read more

We received medication from them right away. Rachel was really great from the start and even call the next day to check on our dog! Highly recommend ! read more

This place is a second home for your fur baby! Well organized, caring compassionate staff, very clean! Set up to avoid any overlapping pet traffic that might lead to fusses. I've gone to this vet a few times, everytime I've gone the communication has been terrible . My most recent visit I was told that at my dogs next appt his test to move to Hawaii would be 600$. They sent me the estimate and I was going to pay it but I felt like something was off . I then called to asked about pricing for health certificate they originally told me 180 then I get a call like a week later saying that they are so sorry it's actually 375. Me thinking I was being over charged I call another vet and they told me the same test was only 350$ and the health certificate was 150. This vet is extremely over priced and I do not recommend . read more

Wonderful reception area, incredibly friendly staff. Tasteful setup. Dr. Harbour and his vet techs were very knowledgeable. My blue heeler pup was tended after with kind hands, no unnecessary jerking or sudden movements. Post care instructions were easy to understand and setting up a follow up appointment was very easy. My first visit with my puppy I found the staff to be friendly and professional, and the office was clean. However, you have to pay $60 even before you step into the office on your first visit. I sat in the room for 40-mins before the doctor saw my puppy which should have been a sign that things are not going to work out for me at this vet! This week I had to bring my dog to this vet again becuz of something he ate. I talk to the staff about not providing any treatment with out my consent. So what they did was racked up charges on the back in. They took my dog blood pressure 8-times and just for this service was $338!! Not including the other services that I approved. They refused to adjust this bill, and I refused to bring my dog back to this vet. read more

We are switching vets to these guys after this experience. Willing to drive over 45 mins to them. I know all vets are so slammed and short staffed right now but not only did they accommodate our urgent care need but they investigated a problem I was concerned with that I brought up with my previous vet. I really felt like all options were explored, I was given plenty of information to make decisions, and felt like my sick boy was in such good hands when I left him for the day. Everyone was so kind and I never felt pressured or rushed. Prices were very reasonable for urgent care and everything was upfront and I just can tell this is an honest practice. I've also never had a vet follow up with me regarding care and that was amazing to experience. You can tell a lot of love is going into this practice and into this staff. From the front desk staff to the Vet Tech to Dr. Kate Henderson, I can't speak highly enough of them. Unbelievably terrible service! Like I've never experienced anything like itbefore! We had our Grate Dane spayed there.... when we had a problem after Sergey, and asked to see the vet, they said it would be a few days before they could see the dog. I told them there was blood and discharge from the area, and I was really concerned. ( a week after the operation, not normal) they first insisted a check a day later would be fine. I insisted they see her. So, got an appointment that day... at the end of the day. Brought the dog in, they said it looked a little angry and to put this antiseptic cream on it. Ok, I told them I rushed down to make this appointment and did not have my wallet. Could I pay them Thursday , when I was already scheduled to bring another Dane in. They said, sorry, no... pay in full at time of service. I asked how much was the meds. $15.00 dollars. So I said, for fifteen dollars, you're going to send me away without the meds? They said, yep. Sorry. They put the almighty dollars above the care of my pet, remember, 15 dollars. Omg. Yes, I got angry and said a few bad words. Even their " office" manager would not let me have the meds. So, if they are more focused in their bottom line verses helping the patient, good luck with that! They lost a huge customer. With four dogs, three cats I'll take my pets to someone who's practice actually cares about the wellness rather than the dollars. I would fire that entire front of the house staff. Please consider using another vet. This teams, " sucks" ! read more

Our kitty fell off our banister chasing our other 2 kitties & be broke his paw. Called Harbour Vet office first thing when they opened & asked if I could just walk in they said yes. Got us in right away, took x-rays, showed them too me and too good care of him! They were very professional & caring! They even have a military discount now so that helped w/ the bill! I will definitely be going back hopefully this time for just a check-up! read more

Adam has been taking care of my little girl Piper since she arrived in the United States. I live in Winchester, VA and there are a lot of veterinarians closer to me, but I drive the 4.5 hours to take her to see Adam and staff at Tidewater Animal Clinic. They give her world class care and know that she is not a dog or a pet, she is my daughter. Adam, Kate and the staff love my little girl as much as I do and I know that when she comes back out to me, I don't have to worry about anything... they are THAT good!! Severely disappointed with Harbour Veterinary Hospital. Took Chloe in for a cleaning and specifically told them not to pull any teeth unless they were abscessed or affecting her health. Had the assistant make a note when she gave me the pre-procedure instructions. Got a call midday, saying she was doing well and to pick her up at 5:15. When I picked her up, they had pulled over 15 teeth. Anyone have a recommendation for a vet in Suffolk? read more
