This was the best veterinarian until November 2025; Thanksgiving weekend. Our fur baby was a patient since he was born, almost 6 years ago. Picked him up, he appeared different, usually jumping and playful. After arriving home, I noticed that his portable crate and his butt was full of feces. Prior to leaving the office, They stated they couldn't give him a bath, but they could at minimum clean him up! This had never happened before. He was not his happy self, and drunk two small bowls of water. I called and left messages for someone to return my call. I even emailed. As of today, no one has returned my call, it has been over a year. Last straw, I called in May 2026 and was put on hold Multiple times to make an appointment and to find out why no one had contacted m. Apparently, no one cared enough to return my calls. Very disappointing! Suffolk Animal Hospital use to provide top notch service, and my Shihpoo was happy. Customer service, and my business must no longer matter. The only recourse was to find another veterinarian since the military vet is no longer an option; disheartened to say the least. read more

They wanted to charge us more for a follow-up appointment on our dog when she had a UTI. She was fine in about a few days. She was no longer slightly bleeding on the floor. They could not do surgery on her. read more

Recently, my Beagle/Basset Hound mix, Buggy, hurt himself playing in the backyard. My regular vet wasn't able to see him that day, so I took him to the Emergency Clinic. When I tried to get an appointment at my same vet for a re-check, they still couldn't see him until Monday (that was on a Thursday). I decided to look for another vet close by (my regular vet is almost a 30 minute drive) and found Suffolk Animal Hospital (SAH) here on Yelp. I called and they were able to see Buggy the next day. SAH is located on Holland Road and is in an older, brick building. However, the inside is lovely--there is no doggy odor or cat litter box stink, and there is a nice aroma in the air. The walls are painted with wonderful colors and lots of inspirational posters and pictures throughout. When we walked him, we were the only patients in the waiting area, which was great for Buggy; he gets very nervous in new situations. We didn't have to wait too long before Kelly, the vet tech, brought us into the examining room. Both Kelly and Dr. Amber were friendly and courteous, and they made me feel comfortable. Another reason I brought Buggy was because the vet at the Emergency Clinic had heard a heart murmur. Understandably, I was quite nervous until Dr. Amber examined him and told me what she thought it was. I'm not going to bore you with medical lingo, but the good news is Buggy is fine at the moment. If you're needing a vet for your loved ones, try SAH. I am a satisfied customer and that is a good thing since I have two dogs and two cats. They will get used to seeing me often! read more

It's obvious they care more about money than sick animals. Went to fill my sick dog's prescription and was told i had a balance that needed to be paid BEFORE they would give me the meds. Didn't even know that i had a balance, some notification would be nice. Meanwhile, my puppy suffers while I straighten out their billing mess and look for another vet. Updated on 1/14/19 - I have receipts showing you were PAID IN FULL for services rendered. I owe you 0, not one penny. Not my problem your accounting dept is inept and can't 'do simple math or keep proper records. I have already disputed the charges and notified the Better Business Bureau. So now, my new vet says you refuse to send over my dogs records so they can properly treat her. They said since my pet is no longer an "active" patient you can't send over her medical records. Over several weeks you chose to ignore several requests by phone, email and fax out of pure spite, while the entire time my poor dog has suffered. That is unforgivable and the reason why I will continue to spread the word that you care more about money than sick animals. But don't take just my word for it folks, read a couple of the reviews below where the guy is asked "what his budget is for a sick dog" and then he compares this vet to a used car dealer.....Or some of the other reviews about them running unnecessary tests. This is ridiculous and sad, you should be ashamed of yourself. Put sick animals first, not the almighty dollar. read more

I had to make an appointment because my sweet puppers got an angry red bump on her face, developed weepy eyes and her butt looked tore up like she had eaten a woodpile. This all happened at almost the same time, so I decided to wait to see if anything got worse or better. After about 10 days of violating her with Prep H, I decided it was time. Got a quick appt time here. I'd driven past this place and never noticed how close it was! We walked in and it had cookie smelling candles, smelled better than a sterile place with eau de pee aroma. The waiting area was nothing much, but it makes for nice conversation with other people about your dogs health (like old people carping in great detail about their lactose intolerance). We get to the exam room and it's almost exclusively decorated with cat pictures, paintings and decor. My dog gives me an eyeroll. The assistant was very thorough, so thorough I thought she was the doc. She was very empathetic and genuine in caring. After some more waiting and disgusted looks from my dog who is trying to scratch a "help me" sign in the exam table, Doc Amber enters. She takes a good exam, tells me her suspicion that the angry bump is probably (some big latin word here) and the weepy eye is caused by the histamines the bump is offing. So then we move to the rear. Lifts the tail, says, "yep, filled up anal sacs" (never experienced this myself so no idea). She and assistant take her in back and I picture my dog screaming "stranger danger." But when she returns, she is like a champ, so happy, who knew. The doc nailed it, exactly what she said, even printed out pages in inkjet COLOR- whoa (have you priced ink?) She told me what to do to speed the healing along with OTC med. It did just as she said and is gone. All this service was less than $50. A++++ read more

They did a great job with our dog... My only advice is don't let them talk you into extra services that you don't want. They encouraged us to get our dogs teeth cleaned even though we wanted to wait for our tax return. We weren't ready to pay for it and they said they would bill us so we could pay when we got our tax return. Well surprise surprise, it hasn't even been a month and they're already threatening to send us to collections. Update: The office manager already called to explain the wording on their letter will be updated and the didn't mean for it to come across wrong. I appreciate the follow up! read more

My dogs have only ever had the best care at Suffolk Animal Hospital. Whether it be for normal check ups, grooming, boarding, or dealing with puppy illnesses, I would not hesitate to test them with my animals. The care and compassion they show is second to none. Love this place! read more

I'm so distraught over the increased pricing everytime I go to the Suffolk Animal Hospital. My pets insulin is almost $40.00 more than online. Unfortunately, even though we've been with them since they opened, we're leaving. Great technicians though, we will miss them. read more

We came in to use the grooming services today. When we arrived, we were greeted with friendly smiles, as usual. I love going in there. The atmosphere is so warm. Nikki (the groomer) came out to meet us and take Eowyn. She asked me what we would like to get done and gave me the rundown of what she will be doing. She was very gentle and friendly, and Eowyn calmed down a bit because she was nervous coming in. Anyway, super happy with Nikki's (the groomer) work. Our baby girl looks so good and even she is very happy with herself. We will be coming back here for sure! read more

If you love your animal, then please do not take it to this Dr. Carr. I came home from work Friday before last to find my Jack Russell throwing up white foam, I thought he had ate something that did not agree with him. When he was still doing it on Saturday morning, I called his vet which was Dr. Carr. I knew they were open and maybe they could see him. I talked to someone named Amber. I explained what was going on, she said he was fine but I could bring him in on Monday at 1:30. I took him in on Monday. He was still throwing up and I could tell he did not feel like himself. They took blood, gave him a shot to settle his stomach. Dr Carr said he was so congested that she could not tell if it was kennel cough, pnemonua, or a bad heart. If he was that sick why did she not do more. So 15 hours later I rush him to the emergency clinic in Suffolk, because he could not catch his breath. They said he had pnemouna and he died 9 hours later. Dr Carr charged me 226.00 and did nothing for my best friend. Suffolk Animal sent me an email and how was they service, I told them the same thing as I have here. If they read it I got no feedback of I'm sorry. read more

I went here because my usual vet was not available. They were nice and got me in quickly so I thought this was going to be a good experience. Well much to my disappointment it wale t down from there. After getting back into the room I was greeted by the vet who as she was started to take to me said oh " hold on let me answer my phone it's my daughter ". She goes on to have a conversation with her. Then when she gets off said she has been calling me all day about dumb stuff. That was unprofessional to answer in the middle of coming in for an exam especially for a new client. Then they take my dog back don't tell me what they are doing then when I decide to take my dog home and let keep him comfortable as possible And not euthanse I get a bill for 360.00. And I was never asked or told what she was doing. They made me feel bad because I wanted to take my dog home and chose not to put him down. I will not be going back. read more

My pets have been seeing Dr. Carr and the staff at Suffolk Animal Hospital for approximately two years. I have been immensely pleased with the service, professionalism, and warmth that the staff and Dr. Carr display. We have seen the staff for emergencies, teeth cleaning, regular checkups, vaccinations, etc. Every time the wait time is short and everyone is pleasant. They call to check up on our animals after certain procedures and the fees are reasonable. After our Yorkie was bitten by another dog, Dr. Carr carefully examined her and reassured us the bite was minor. Her demeanor helped us remain calm. Probably one of the best vet visits I have ever experienced!! The staff was courteous and helpful and Dr. Carr was amazing. They provided up front price quotes for everything I was inquiring about and never pressured me into agreeing to something I didn't want to or couldn't afford. They take care credit which is a blessing as most vet bills can be a little pricey, as most people know. I will continue to take my dog back as well as my other dog and cat as time allows. It feels so good to have a vets office that I actually like! And they are conveniently located less then a mile from my home.
