I've only eaten steamed crabs from here. I cannot vouch for the other items that are on the menu. I will say, service isn't necessarily with a smile, but you do get what you pay for. If you call on the phone, chances are, you will get there and your food still won't be ready. I always ask for heavy seasoning but never really get it. I like this place but I wish it was a bit cheaper, cleaner, and better customer service. Last week I spent over $70 for a dz crabs. read more

This is the WORST seafood place in the 757 if not southeast US. I just ordered their crawfish boil with all sauces. It was bland and fishy. Not normal fishy but funky fishy. Like a dirty woman. Just awful ordered the fried calamari and when I got were stringy little tiny pieces that were cooked to the point that they were like rubber bands they were so tough and that's no exaggeration they also had a fishy smelly taste that told me these were low quality probably unsafe and definitely not tasty. I was referred to this place by a colleague. The staff are really rude and unprofessional. That however is not why I will never go back there, besides the fact that it is a dump!. I could barely breathe due to the smoke and poor ventilation. I went there on a Saturday to get some red crab. Never again Please don't waste your time or money at this establishment. We are headed to the place next-door then the wife saw the live crabs sign on this place, her mind was made up. The signs and pictures in the window all look good however in reality once you get inside and you place your order and you start looking around and say to your self why am I here. The place has seen better days and it is not that clean inside. Anyhow I ordered a combo one of the items was a fish it was not fresh and overcooked and it had a fishy smell and taste to it again it was not fresh. Also the hush puppies that came with the meal we're not thoroughly cooked very Dowie in the center. Everything was fried in this combo I don't mind fried food if it's good but this is definitely not good, The fish was a real turn off. My wife ordered a dozen crabs they came out they looked OK she ate about three or so and took the rest home and said her tummy was bothering her afterwards. The oysters were disgusting, the whiting was bland and hard to eat due to being over fried. The hush puppies were soggy and filled with grease; probably fried in too low a temperature. The restaurant itself is outdated, dirty and sparse. Worst of all, the woman (owner?) is extremely rude. She actually put her hands on me thinking I tried to cheat them out of a COLE SLAW when it was on my receipt showing I paid for it! I was missing one in my bag I said something to the man about it after she refused to acknowledge that I was trying to get her attention. He went and got me one, and when I put it inside my bag she came over, slapped my hands and took the slaw away from me! When I showed the receipt for the order (that she herself took 15 minutes earlier), she just put the coleslaw back on the counter and glared at me; no apology or anything. Saw all the reviews and i had to try. OMG!!! I habe never tasted fresh fish before because if I had i wouldn't have been so amazed at this place. Who knew fish was sweet??!!! The shrimp, mussels, sausage, potatoes, corn...etc!!!! DELICIOUS!!!! The servers were very polite, they gave my daughter and cob to take home for free, and also let her and my son grab a live crab. This place is horrible, the first time I went I ordered a fried fish dinner, which was unseasoned and dry. But I tried to give them another chance because their close to my house, bad idea!! This time i got some steamed shrimp and a dozen female crabs. The shrimp were overcooked and the crabs were mushy and tasted awful. So I called up there to tell them i wanted and exchange and they told me they would give me a new batch. But when I got there the man at the register got rude with me and told me he would only give me six new crabs. Just bad experiences everytime so I will not be going back! read more

I had free time in my day today so I decided to stop by this place that I had passed so many times. I walked in and I was hit by that not so fresh seafood smell. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and engaged me as soon as I walked in the store. There was a average selection of hot food available from spot sandwiches to crab cakes. I decided to go with the crab cake sandwich and the she crab soup (two of my favs). While I waited for my food I walked around the store to see what other items they offered. One thing I saw that they had that you normally don't see was red crabs which I thought was really cool. There was mako shark to croaker and catfish, but unfortunately from the look of the fish in the case they did not look to fresh. I saw a employee restocking the case so I asked him where they get their fish from. To my shock and surprise he stated that they get it from George's Seafood. I'm not an expert on wholesale fish supply but that was kind of odd to me. I shrugged it off and continued to browse while my food was cooking. I got my food and parted company with a smile and a wave. Upon trying the she crab soup I was incredibly disappointed, the soup was bland and very thin not like most of the soups I have had before. It was sparsely populated with chunks of crab meat and onions, It was definitely not worth the $3.50. I put it the side and tried the crab cake sandwich, which was a big change from the preceding item. The bun was soft and buttery and veggies on the sandwich were very fresh. The crab cake itself was very big and flavorful, and was full of lump and claw meat. I would probably try some of the cooked menu items here in the future. Although I'm not too sure about the "fresh" seafood but I give the benefit of a doubt and chuck it up to being an off day for them. read more

My family tried the boil in a bag that included Red Crab, Lobster, Blue Crab and Turkey Sausage. It came with corn and potato. We asked for the Cajun spice to add on top, and fair warning: IT IS SPICY. But if you can handle the heat, be my guest because it's definitely delicious. It was hard to break into some crab legs because they weren't as soft as I'd hoped. They don't have forks, so they might get you a knife to try to dig in deep to get to the crab meat! Your hands will smell, so they provide gloves and a bib for you. It's a messy eat but super fresh ingredients and highly recommend for dine-in seafood. read more

I had the worst experience here. When i arrived several customers were having issues. Due too coronavirus They have many rules and regulations which they did not follow when serving our food although she was wearing a mask and gloves. Not a single person in line including myself could understand her. My crabs were light and hollow and I had to add more seasoning to them once I got home. My fried trio combo and scallop dinner was salty, we could not eat them. Fresh market seafood store as well as in store restaurant. Nice selection of fish and seafood. Go early- they sell out fast. The catfish platter (fries) was fantastic. Moist inside with crispy outside. The seafood/crab boil with potatoes, corn and sausage was amazing. We got a dozen blue crabs boiled in their seasoning - wow! They were moist and cooked to perfection! Messy but great! We picked up fresh raw scallops and shrimp to cook later as well. Everything was well packaged and prepared. Ok so I do like this place compared to the other crab spots I've been in contact with in Hampton va my complaints are seasoning and over cooked shrimp! The crabs are usually pretty good. I tried a seafood boil where you get to pick three options from the selection of seafood with corn potatoes and sausage. Great price $25 can't beat that I got hot Cajun it wasn't hot at all and need a Lil more flavor still enjoyed it. I will be getting my crabs from here compared to the other places in Hampton though lol. read more

Since they reopen I have been there twice. Had the whiting dinner both times and it was delicious. The service is top dollar even though they be busy. Very clean and has that ocean smell a seafood place should have. Menu has a variety of items at reasonable prices. Only problem is on both times I was there I wanted stone crabs (it was on the menu) but they had none. Other than that I was very impress. They got my business, but please get some stone crabs! read more
