Today I had Hadrien replace a bathroom ceiling fan and 5 smoke detectors and troubleshoot issues with a 2nd ceiling fan. He was outstanding! On time, super professional, highly knowledgeable and works very cleanly as well. Tievy Electric has been around for a long time. I used them quite a bit in the 80's and 90's. Yesterday I needed them for the first time in many years and they were as wonderful as I remember. I had an old lighting fixture in my dining room that had two light sources, only one of which worked. Pat and Andrew were here on time, fixed the broken wires, and had everything operating promptly. I understand everyone rated them high, but they were all for residential work. I called them for commercial work, they gave an estimate that was very high. However, I understand that this was hard work and we needed something done quick in the office to save our server room due to lack of AC. Signed proposal, two techs came out onsite. They did not inform me when they left, instead. Troy called me and informed me the work was done. I asked him if the job was finished and if it's safe to turn to AC unit. He said yes, we flipped the switch on and it did not work. We then called our AC tech, he came out and showed me that Tievy did not finish their job. Tievy was supposed to run two #6 cable from the breaker box all the way outside to the two AC units. Troy decided to end the 2 #6 cables to the ceiling of the office next to the wall into a junction box, then used the old #10 cables to the outside units. Our building Engineer informed us that this is not safe and to have Tievy come out to replace it ASAP. it has been two days since the job was "completed" and still no sign of them yet. Just save your time and money and go somewhere else instead. read more

I'm usually too lazy to write reviews but felt the need to give a shout out to Tievy Electric after our experience this morning. Steve was the electrician that answered our service call. We had several outlets that were ungrounded (ground connection was lost). Steve identified the problem and resolved the issue by running a new ground line connecting the outlets to the nearest grounded circuit and resolved the problem efficiently. A week ago I had another company came out to address the same issue, they dicked around for 2 hours and was unable to resolve this problem, and instead offered to install GFCI outlets instead, which doesnt address the issue. They even had the gall to ask that I pay for the time spent unsuccessfully troubleshooting. Steve and Tievy will be my go-to guy/company moving forward. read more

Do you know what is the most painful part of buying a house? No no...going to closing is nothing. And nope, writing those huge monthly mortgage checks are a breeze. Nope...the most painful part of buying a house (especially one that has been empty for nearly a year), is finding all the little "surprises" about your house. The surprises that result in calling in a professional and pray that you won't need to take out a HELOC to pay for. During our inspection, we noticed that the electrical box was a little old and not all the switches were labeled correctly, which caused my husband some concern. However, after we moved in (and hooked up the new washer/dryer) we realized that there was at least one blown fuse, and the light switch in one room didn't seem to work. Upon our relator's recommendation, we called Tievy, and they were able to come out on a day that I was going to be at the house (painting...everlasting painting). The electrician showed up on time and was quite cheery. Because I'm an absolute moron when it comes to home repairs (or any kind of repairs), I couldn't really explain what the problems where - I could only read off my husband's text messages to him in hopes that he understood what the problem was. Heh. - The electrical box - old but 100% safe and compliant. No need to spend $2000 to switch it out...unless we had money to burn. Which we don't. YAY! - The blown fuse - took 5 minutes. - The light switch that "didn't work" - he changed the light bulb (yes, you read that right. I couldn't stop laughing at my husband all night). In and out in 10 minutes, and although he had to charge me for the full hour ($105), he was funny and gave me some tips on what we can do ourselves to save money in the future. YAY! So while owning a house has meant a billion unexpected bills and doing more renovation then the entire DIY Network...with Tievy, this was one thing I didn't need to worry about. read more

When sparks started flying from my bedroom ceiling fan and then it died. I panicked, my bedroom is one of the hottest rooms in the house. So, like any good Yelper I looked on Yelp under electricians. I noticed Tievy Electricians had a lot of 5 star reviews. I called and a pleasant voice asked about my electrical needs. They gave me a quote over the phone. There was no tricks about having to see it first. I was scheduled two days after my call. Mark was right on time and knew exactly what to do. He installed my new Hunter ceiling fan and showed me all of the options for using it. Little did I know you can change the direction the fan blows, instead of blowing down on you, it can circulate the air up around you. That is one smart technician. Then, he put in a new closet light for me. Wow, now I can see when I am getting dressed!! He was funny and cleaned up after the job. The price was reasonable and the service top notch. This company is professional and very quick. The woman who handled the appointments called me back promptly with a schedule that fit around mine. When the electrician Austin came out he was very thorough and responsive to all of my questions. Their standard rate is based off of the county and starts at 150 for the hour. When I called other places they began at 250 and quoted one electrical outlet around 800. Highway robbery . Austin was able to get me a new outlet and didn't waste my time and only took him two hours. Of course people have different services but at least you know what the base rate is. Ron Tievy is a superstar! I had no AC or hot water and a few other items were not working. I called after hours, not even being his customer, and he walked me through the possibilities. He was also quite willing to come over that evening if the suggestions didn't work. It was all related to the record rains and an exterior plug likely getting damp, even tho I never would have guessed that they all could be related (due to mislabeling of the circuit breakers. :-( Ron gave me guidance so I knew what was possible and what wasn't.
