This is my least favorite Tiffany & Co store to go to. They are extremely short and judgmental. Also, with multiple employees standing around you are told there is an x amount of a wait. Dropping off or picking up something from the cleaning/repair is a nightmare. You constantly get harassed by the person at the door and told it's a minimum of a month wait until they realize it's gold or platinum, then they magically change their tune. I purchased a pair of diamond stud earrings in 1979 in the original ,small Tiffany & Co San Francisco store. I kept the sales receipts and earrings in my safe deposit box and they were seldom removed. Fast forward to 2024. We wanted to have the earrings appraised as they will be willed elsewhere. We had an appraisal done with a well known hightly recommended appraiser. However, the appraisal did not confirm a value consistent with the Tiffany's receipt and with representations made by Tiffany at the time of purchase. We went to Tiffany & Co. at the Stanford Shopping Center. Doing so proved to be a total waste of time. They claim they are unable to establish the earring are in fact Tiffany notwithstanding the receipt of purchase. As a result, they refused to provide an appriasal of a piece of jewelry bought from them or even to send it to New York to confirm it is theirs. One of two things must be true. Either the intitial salesperson pulled a fast one on us by selling at a Tiffany store a non-Tiffany item, or we just received terrible customer service. Tiffany's claims they have no records kept from before 1992 and therefore they are at a loss, notwithstanding the numbered Tiffany receipt we provided. My Mother would always take me to the "5-7-9 Shop" because that was the only place I could find a dress that fit correctly. Always a great experience here especially when Jon Segal is working. He is so approachable, progressional and knowledgeable. I have bought several items from him the past few years and always have a great experience. He's one of the only sales associates who will immediately come up to you and let them know that he is there to provide a service and then he'll offer you waters and sodas. It's always nice and refreshing because most of the other associates will talk to you and show you items and never offer you anything. He has this attentive nature but also as he stated today he's worked there for 14 years and he's always wanted to work at Tiffany's and it shows in the experience that he leaves a customer with. The Tiffany & Company name is almost synonymous with the concept of jewelry itself and its ubiquitous influence permeates all forms of media. I mean, nothing gets a man back in his lady's good grace faster than that trademark turquoise box wrapped with the signature "Tiffany knot," right? For years, I've made my mandatory stop at Tiffany's just like any other Joe Doghouse who paused half a second too long to respond to the age- long trap "Do I look fat in this?" We walked up and there is a sign barring the entrance. A security guard smiles and asks us to wait just a minute until some of the customers have left and then we can proceed inside. After another satisfied couple leaves, we walk in and he points to the right and asks us to wait for the next rep so we thank him and stand unobtrusively in front of the window while we wait. Few other customers leave and these two older ladies walk in. A young lady in a professional attire walks past us with a cursory glance and she greets the older ladies. Strange, but ok. We wait. Then a group of three people leave and another couple walks in. A tall, young, gentleman in a suit greets them and walks them over to a counter. By now, my girl and I are looking at each other with a deep frown. However, we understand that mistakes happen so we wait a bit more. Two other employees walk past us, one of whom creases her brows - clearly annoyed - and sticks a finger out in that universal 'wait a minute' gesture at us before breezing through a door. Granted, I've shopped at the Tiffany's in Costa Mesa for a decade and I've only been coming to this location for about four years so I'm not a known face here. But I'm beyond floored as this isn't a service that I'm accustomed to receiving from a prodigious name like Tiffany, an international corporate giant that bespeaks peerless quality. Partly curious and partly outraged, we start walking back over to the security guard who'd waves us in to begin with. It's evident that he saw what'd transpired within the last seven minutes as his wide- open eyes are scanning - presumably for another employee - as he slightly nods sympathetically towards us. We ask, "Excuse me... but... What! Is! Happening here?!" He quickly murmurs into his radio and within seconds, a gentleman with a bit of salt & pepper hair strides up to us. We can already tell that whatever he has to say isn't going to be pleasant - his chin jutted out in a barely concealed sneer and his brow furrowed in a contemptuous scorn - and he delivers on the promise of his scowl with a tetchy demand, "Yes? What's the problem?" No welcome; no "Welcome, guys. How are you today?" or even a placid greeting of "Hi, what can I do for you?" Just... "What's the problem?" I tilt my head in confusion. In over a decade of shopping at Tiffany & Co, I have never had an employee treat me with such disrespect, especially from the get- go, without even knowing what'd happened. Is this the new Tiffany & Company that we can expect post- pandemic? Have they become a common jewelry store that stamps out overpriced jewelry - Ferrari pricing with a Wal- Mart attitude? Thinking that we may have read this gentleman wrong - or as we can be misunderstood from time to time - we quickly explain that we were passed over by three of the representatives after we'd walked into the store. The security at the entrance contributes to our narrative with a bewildered nods, but the other gentleman - whom we found out is a manager - shushes him with a dismissive flicker of his annoyed glance. The manager tilts his head slightly to the side, rolls his eyes, and sighs deeply - as if he's about to disagree with some prodigal children about their wayward lifestyle - disdainfully glances at the jewels that I've purchased over years of special occasions and fond memories, then haughtily recites, "What are these, silver? You're supposed to make an appointment for cleanings. But maybe I can accept... these... today. You'll get them back in five to six weeks." Both of us are shocked silent. The manager raises his eyebrows questioningly and impatiently glances at his watch. We mumble, "Umm... no, thank you." Without a word, he storms off as if he'd never been so inconvenienced by such waste of time . The entrance security guard's eyes are a confused mix of unutterable apology and befuddlement. What sets a quality jeweler isn't just pretty stones in glass cases. True jeweler recognizes that the window shopper full of question one day may end up being the four- karat engagement ring purchaser next week. As the adage of customer service goes, "People will forget what you did for them. They may even forget who you are. But they'll never forget how you made them feel." I haven't been this degraded since boot camp. We left Tiffany's speechless, forewent dinner, went to Zales at Parkway to see Jacob, and spent $7,700 on necklaces and watches. June 2nd was the last time I went to Tiffany's and shall it ever stay that way. read more

Well, today's visit felt different than my previous visits. Maybe it was because I wasn't with my white husband. Or because I was dressed casually. I dropped by the store to get my rings polished, as I normally do when at the mall. I've always come with my husband but for the first time, I dropped by with my sister. We walk in and are completely ignored. We have to approach an attendant to ask to have the rings polished. A curt nod to the back of the store is given. We walk to the back and still are unsure where to go. We clearly are looking for something yet are completely ignored. Contrast this to all the other times I have visited with my husband and we are met with immediate attentiveness. I asked my sister if she noticed anything because I wasn't sure if I was overly sensitive to the situation, but she confirmed our experience. Unbelievable. Did I mention that both my engagement ring and wedding band were purchased at this very location? Disappointing customer service to say the very least. What girl doesn't like Tiffany's?? Ever since I got my first piece freshman year of college, I've been hooked. The staff is always very courteous and friendly, even the security guard. I recently had to bring in my bracelet to get the clasp replaced. After years of wear, it broke and they were able to replace it. It wasn't cheap and they had to send it to Tiffany's in New York to get it repaired, but when I got it back, it looked practically brand new. I came a few weeks later to get my other pieces cleaned and polished and was greeted with the same great customer service. I just wish I remembered the girl's name who helped me. Cleaning is free of charge, btw, and I dropped off 5 pieces at the time, so I think that's the max you can bring in per service. I am forever a customer. read more

Very disappointed with this store on Friars Road in San Diego. I called about a Key Charm with necklace that needed a longer chain and was told to come in and no problem. I went in today to purchase 3 of them and was told that they could not sell me a longer chain unless I paid to have the stock one altered. I was happy to pay the extra for the longer chain but did not believe an additional extra service charge was in order. I had also brought in My Daughters Bracelet to have cleaned and was told I would have to ship it to New York and they would charge for the cleaning and of course postage both ways. In this time of crisis, Businesses are adding to their customer service instead of diminishing it away. Tiffany is no longer the Top Brand to cherish. We were very excited to come get a new replacement chain for my gf's necklace. The gentleman that helped us wasn't very helpful and offered a necklace that wouldn't allow us to keep one of the charms on the necklace (OK- I already thought that was weird). And he said that we can figure out a way to put the charm on with pliers or a jewelers or something. We get home, and ALL charms did not fit on the necklace. Fast forward, we go back and tell an employee that is MUCH more kind and knowledgeable about the issue. And she tells me that this is a customer service issue and I never should have gotten the $70 chain in the first place. Why wasn't I informed the first time around by the gentleman? He was extremely quick to offer the $70 chain, rather than to buy the real replacement for $50. This was a major inconvenience and was very disappointed. I've been going to this location for the past 5 years that I've lived in SD. Customer service for getting pieces cleaned and repaired is always amazing. The people working in the back truly deserve 5 stars. My problem with this location are the sales people. On many occasions I have been ignored by sales people and when I do get their attention they give me unsatisfactory service. I am young and often show up dressed extremely casual which I don't believe warrants the way I am treated. My mom and boyfriend often (once or twice a year) buy me gifts from Tiffany and will make me go try on the pieces I'm interested in before they purchase it. The last time I came in hoping to try on a ring my boyfriend wanted to purchase for me (diamond Paloma Picasso olive ring) the worker gave me attitude and told me that I don't need to try it on since I already have a piece on that fits the same way. If I could give zero stars I would. To begin with I received a flip-flop charm from my mother in law. Soon after wearing it on my T&Co bracelet the charm broke, the decorative top that was the Tiffany Blue was just gone one day. I went in and customer service replaced it. Fast forward to today, the second charm also broke. Since it has been more than 6 months since they replaced the previous charm the customer service representative told me all they can do is sell me another charm. I found out today that the charm was $250! I was not pleased to say the least. They obviously do not stand behind their products. I have several pieces of Tiffany & Co jewelry and as of now do not plan to ever shop there again. THREE STARS to YASMIN and the beautiful necklace I purchased. I stood at the counter for 10mins, there were at least two other salespeople who weren't helping anyone. I actually caught one man's eye and he looked at me and then turned away. K. I had to stand awkwardly for a few mins 2 ft away from a saleslady ringing up, before I even got acknowledged. And as for the couple who came way after me and got helped first... First of all I came up way before they showed up and you know that bc you acknowledged me, second of all what kind of customer service can't keep track of who came first, and actually asks the customers "um who was here first?". So awkward, so uncomfortable. I worked in retail for years and now I work as a receptionist and I can't emphasize how crucial it is to be aware of surroundings and customer order. Decided to grin and Yelp it. Thank god for YASMIN, she was so sweet and pleasant! I've gone in before w/ a specific purch in mind and had noses turned up at me because I wasn't buying upsells or huge purchases, and Y did none of that! She brought out what I asked to look at, and the sale was quick and easy - my little necklace was boxed and bagged in a snap! I love that at a jewelry store, I love being able to get in, pick what I came for, and head out. No attempts to upsell, no snubs for not purchasing big expensive pieces (sorry but I prefer the cute class of tiny pendants). I even had my little dog with me and she was so sweet to her. Yasmin. Is. Absolutely. Lovely. In short - you guys are selling sterling silver, and we customers pay for the history and the charm and the world class service (we hope). It's just silver. We have lived in three different cities, *almost* always with perfect customer service in every one. My boyfriend (now fiancé and soon-to-be husband!) started purchasing gifts here in 2005 when he got me a tasteful piece from the Elsa Peretti collection. We have since 'upgraded' to an engagement ring and recently purchased wedding bands. Over the years, we have loved the customer service we have received with one nasty exception in this San Diego location. I only wish I remember the woman's name - I threw away her business card after a particularly judgmental experience with her. I only remember that she was Latina with lighter or highlighted hair. She was extraordinarily snooty because we weren't looking for either platinum or diamond jewelry for our wedding (not our taste). We decided not to buy that day since she was the only one available to help us. So I subtracted a star because of her. However, we have (and look forward to continue to have) an awesome experience with the store associate Marie Shellum. She took the time to get to know us and was extremely enthusiastic about my non-diamond engagement ring (from Tiffany's, btw), whereas the other woman tried to make us feel stupid for being 'untraditional'. A week after we ordered and received our wedding bands, we received a handwritten notecard from Marie, thanking us for working with her. Tiffany's is a jewelry powerhouse. For those uneducated about diamonds (and other precious gemstones), you pay more for a Tiffany piece not just because of the name and lifetime customer service, but also because they are NOT blood diamonds. As a business school student, I learned about ethically sourced and certified diamonds in depth. It is extremely difficult to have a certifiably ethical diamond, but Tiffany's does its best to ensure their gemstones are clean and the craftsmanship is the highest quality. The space is great and they also have a kids table with coloring books. That helped keep all our kids entertained while looking at the rings.
