After 12 years of renting, I was really itching to become a homeowner. I've entrusted Fulton Grace since early 2010, back when property management was their bread and butter, so I knew the realty company I would definitely be using. I worked along side Carley Leonas, who was tremendous in all the ways someone can be as a renter. After renting in my second Fulton Grace unit for almost four years, I decided at the beginning of the year, that I would start looking for a home come April of the following year. I started up a conversation with Carley to rent somewhere that wasn't a high rise, but also let her know I'm open to learning how to become an owner. I gave her a very big task: 3 weeks till move in, a tight budget, and I had only visited Chicago twice before having to sign a lease. PROFESSIONALISM & PREPAREDNESS I set up a flight, and met Tiffany in Old Town. She was gracious enough to meet me with her car. Tiffany came prepared with 7 awesome apartments which we saw in 3 hours (she's a whiz, I told you!). And was even kind enough to Facetime an apartment that I saw the week after I left and was over the moon about. When I say she redefines excellence. Its true. NEGOTIATION We had a very tough close on the apartment, filled with obstacles one after the other. When the owners agent raised the price on the listing (after we'd expressed interest), Tiffany negotiated it back down. DEDICATION When the owners agent didn't inform us of a critical component to the lease (effectively nullifying the lease - and delaying my move in), Tiffany worked at midnight to edit the lease and gain all necessary signatures within a day so I could move in ASAP. When the owner's agent was unresponsive about where to send the security deposit, and was slow to respond generally. Tiffany drove and hand delivered the security deposit to the owner. The owner was very irresponsible in a lot of ways (e.g. didn't even do a walk through with us) but Tiffany constantly went above and beyond to "close the deal". She demonstrated this by performing the role of the other agent when they were 'checked out' and uninformed about the property. Tiffany is a true gem. She is personable, affable and knowledgeable.
