I usually bring Franchesco on the second Saturday of the month since they're only open one Saturday each month. While he's getting cleaned up and looking handsome, I head over to the Brentwood Farmers' Market. By the time I've enjoyed a coffee, grabbed a bagel, and done a little shopping, Franchesco is ready to go home looking his best. One thing I really appreciate is the salon's open-floor layout. From the lobby, you can hear what's going on, and if you peek in, you can see the dogs being groomed. At first, I was a little nervous because Franchesco is a grumpy old man, but he's done surprisingly well in this environment. He has been groomed by several different groomers over the years and has never had a bad experience. The owner works the front desk herself, and she is always kind, professional, and very knowledgeable about dogs. It's clear that she genuinely cares about both the pets and their owners. They also offer fun little extras that make each visit special, like a "Scent of the Month" after grooming and an adorable Halloween costume contest. I called multiple times (1:30 PM and 3:30 PM) and was told the same thing each time: "they're almost done" and "up next." No call ever came. When we finally showed up at closing, only one dog was ready. The other hadn't even had their finishing cut or brush-out completed. This turned into a 9-hour ordeal with no updates, and my dinner plans were completely ruined. My dogs were also there all day without food. To make matters worse, the owner didn't apologize, did. It even approached my husband and one of the workers asked for a tip. Really? This is unacceptable--poor communication, poor time management, and unprofessional service. I will not be returning. Schedule if you want a daycare without communication.
