I really appreciate and am grateful for Tigard Optometric clinic. They helped me in a bind. I was in the area for two weeks due to work and forgot my daily lenses at home. It was going to take a few days for me to be able to have contacts shipped to me. However, everyone in the office was super helpful. From the phone being answered all the way to the doctor. I went here after getting my eyes examed at another place because I needed to find an optometrist that sold high index lenses and I really wish I knew about this optometrist sooner. Their optician Matt and the optometrist Dr. Freedle were so helpful and friendly when I was looking for a pair of frames that would work well with my high prescription. Dr. Freedle even took the time to ask me about an eye issue that I have even though it was close to closing time and I didnt have an appointment. This is definitely a great independent place that really feels like they care about their patients. I hope everyone is so lucky to have an optometrist like these people. read more

Absolutely phenomenal experience. I've been wearing glas.......correction, spectacles and contacts for 35 years and have seen numerous optometrists over that course of time. Dr. Freedle is in a whole different playing field in comparison to the care that I have previously received. Insanely informative, truly compassionate to hear you as the patient and deliver care beyond what you thought was just a routine mundane appointment. The doctor spent so much time with me answering all my questions and even providing me information on things I didn't even think to ask. I had run out of my last pair of contacts and needed my prescription renewed in the middle of the Stay At Home order. I called in on Tuesday and spoke to Dr. Freedle. He was very informative and walked me through their scheduling during the lockdown, their pricing etc. I explained that I needed contacts for work and that my glasses weren't cutting it. He immediately checked his schedule and was able to get me in the next day. I received a follow up call the next morning reminding me to bring my eyewear and any info I had on my current Rx. Upon arriving the office ladies greeted me and had me fill out my paperwork. They were very kind and welcoming. My exam with Dr. Freedle was wonderful, he explained so much about my prescription and the different benefits of contacts vs glasses. I had never gotten so much information at other offices. By the time I left I had a new prescription, contacts for the year and drops to prevent dry eye. The cost was extremely reasonable; given the care I received and products, I am very surprised at how much I paid. The pricing is less than most in the area and the service received is 5 stars. Truly a wonderful experience, I will be recommending them to everyone who needs an optometrist. And as of today, I will be a loyal patient going forward. Let me start off by saying Dr. Freedle is FABULOUS! He really took the time to listen, and was very educational. They have a good selection of eye glasses, and the eye technician lady seemed very friendly, and knowledgeable as well. Although, the front desk may need some more training. My main complaint was that for both my son and I they did not pre- verify our insurances. We ended up having to pay out of pocket when we could have paid a simple co-pay else where. My vision benefits were also not accepted at this location, and will now be having to search again for a new office-after a month of waiting for my appointment at this location. This all could have been avoided if they had verified prior to our visit- especially when they ask for your insurance ID number prior to booking. read more

Dr. Freedle and team are the best. I've been a patient for over 30 years and I would never go see any other Optometrist. Pre-exam tests and a thorough exam always provide you with your total eye health condition. The office staff is easy to work with, professional and knowledgeable. My exam and conversation with Dr. Freedle was the best I've had in the 39 years I've been wearing glasses. (I'm 44, been wearing glasses since age 5). AMAZING!!! Everyone who I have come in contact with at this awesome place have been wonderful and informational. The doctors are friendly and careful not to leave out any detail. Dr. Wolf worked with my shy 7 year old and by the end she was chatting up a storm with her and not afraid to do any of the tests as she was when we first got there. I called on a Saturday and spoke with Eric Freedle, OD about my daughters eyes being a little sore still and he shared his knowledge on what was going on and advice on how to remedy it! The facilities are clean and tidy with lots of fun art to look at too! Just as a little side note that made me all the more in love with this place is the yummy chocolate candies at the desk, not that scary hard candy that gets stuck in your teeth and makes you wonder how old it really is.... Anyway, it was a really comforting, child friendly and easy appointment and I actually became a member of Yelp just so I could write a review for this great place!!! read more

I have already been to the Barbur location, and had an excellent experience. I came to this location with a medical issue: a viral eye infection. I was able to see Clare Midson, the same optometrist that fitted me for my new contacts and completed my eye exam. The staff here is so friendly. Clare is really friendly, professional, and great. She helped me figure out why my eye was killing me (literally, at times I wanted to just yank it out,,,but the rational part of my brain clearly won and I kept the eyeball). I was able to get in and out so quickly, and picked up my drops within 20 minutes. They have a great selection of eyeglasses, if that is what you are looking for. Again, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this office for your eye care needs (or the Barbur location too!) read more

Dr Freedle simply likes to hear himself talk. He'll spend most of the appointment talking about things that don't apply to you at all. If you are an assertive female, he'll very much condescend and attempt to belittle you every chance he gets. He pulls up other patient records in front of you.... you can see their name and then he'll show details of their eyes. Why? Again, I can only assume to hear himself talk as the patients he talked about with me were heavy smokers who have damaged their eyes, yet I don't smoke, never have, and nothing remotely close up with my eyes. This is not only bad taste, horrible to the other client, but it violates HIPPA and the protection of patient medical records. Horrible horrible experience. I will NEVER go to this person and warn others as well. read more

They gave me superior service and genuine care. Cant say enough good things about them. Most clinics would have simply said, no availability till next week. On a Friday morning I called them and shared I had vision loss and pressure in right eye and was not expecting to get seen, but asking where else would they suggest for quality exam. They got me in that afternoon, but what really stands out from the experience is the bedside manner of the doctor. They were squeezing me in and I know by seeing me, someone was waiting and yet he did not rush the exam and checked everything, took time to explain what was happening and made it an excellent experience. Absolutely the best in professional care, client service and latest in style glasses. We moved here from Bay Area 7 years ago without a resource for our family's vision care. The need for eye care happened due to a cooking accident I didn't have time to scout around and within an hour I was being taken care by Dr Midson. I've gone here for a number of years. I've always enjoyed my interactions with Dr. Midson, who is very good. A few years ago, I bought a pair of eyeglasses with progressive lenses, high index lens material, and transitional coloring. I paid over $400 out of pocket. I'm easy on my glasses, and have never had a pair break in my life. But the frames on these broke. OK, stuff happens, but when I called to see what they could do for me Jenny (one of the opticians there) treated me like I was a criminal. Done with them. read more

Never write reviews, but after yesterday's visit I have to say thank you to Dr. Freedle and the clinic staff. I came in because I couldn't see anything clearly anymore, even with contacts and reading glasses over the top. I thought it was just age-related loss, but Dr. Freedle gave me a most thorough exam, explained everything very carefully, and gave me contact lenses that actually work! Turns out my previous eye clinic had made a pretty bad error in my prescription. Now I can actually read road signs and work at my computer with no eye strain at all. I only need very low strength readers for close-up reading. The difference is amazing! I am so happy! read more

I'm transferring elsewhere after coming here a few times, once for a regular exam and one emergency. I was happy enough with the doctor, but the front desk, each time I came in, was RUDE. As in, they would be talking to each other and not even look up at me to check me in. Once I even sat down in a waiting room chair for five minutes before anyone bothered to talk to me. I felt uncomfortable with the atmosphere. Dr. Midson seemed to echo the front desk and wasn't overly friendly. For my emergency appointment, I had to bring my child with me and let's just say it is NOT a kid friendly office. It is a beautiful office with a great selection of glasses, but I will be going elsewhere. read more

I have been going to the same eye clinic for years until I was recently recommended to come here and boy was I glad I did!! Never have I felt as welcome as I did, not to mention I walked out of there understanding my vision! Who knew that the reason I favor certain colors is because of the type of vision I have! I've known Dr. Freedle for years. He is an excellent doctor willing to take the time to really explain things to you. While traveling in Portland (We are from California), my glasses broke. Hmmm...I have never had to wait on lenses for a total of 2.5 months. Eye exam was just OK and the doctor seems to know at least the basics. The opticians say that it takes 10 days to two weeks for the lab to make and ship lenses (I got lenses in Corvallis within 3 days and they sent it to a lab in Montana!) First, the lab broke my frames after the optician assured me that this only happens "1% of the time". I really didn't want to choose from their unimpressive selection of frames and like my designer bevel frames better. Next, they looked the world over and found my exact frame and replaced for free (therefore, 2 stars - otherwise 1 star). Next, they screwed up my prescription, thus sending the wrong lenses. Finally, they got the correct lenses, but the optician wasn't in the office the day they notified me?!? If you have time on your hands, then these folks might be for you, but beware. read more

Dr. Freedle was very thorough and knowledgeable. My prescription has changed little over the last 25 years. An annual exam is a simple formality required to maintain my supply of contact lenses. Dr. Freedle went through the usual steps to verify that a stronger prescription would not improve my mild stigmatism. I appreciated that he did not dwell on repeating those basic tests more than was necessary and instead included tests I had never had previously. He discovered I have a vertical imbalance between my eyes and this is most likely why my glasses grow crooked so easily and noticeably. It was fascinating to learn something new in an eye exam which made Dr. Freedle's exam stand out in my memory. As I left he referred me to his optician of 23 years, Jenni Wilson, to straighten my frames. I love my glasses, have hung onto them for longer than I can recall. Dr. Freedle and Ms. Wilson both recognized the manufacturer of my glasses immediately as one of their frequent suppliers. They both told me that Silhouettes are manufactured in components, which makes them repairable even when a break occurs in a typically irreparable spot like the temple. I chose to try Tigard Optometric Clinic because it was close to my house and they offered a Yelp voucher, but I will return and recommend their office because should tragedy ever strike my frames, I can count on Dr. Freedle to repair or replace the glasses I love. read more

These guys are great. Most important: great and comprehensive approach to eye health. But beyond that, and almost as important, is the customer service -- which seems geared towards families and professionals anxious to get the best eye care -- but also juggling lots of balls like work and chasing their kids around to games and after school activities... I've never been to a clinic for any health care where the staff and doctors are so helpful in working around your schedule and understanding your needs.
