Professor Paul Tom is a black belt under Flavio Behring, one of the only red belts in the world of Jiujitsu. When I started training here over a year ago, Professor Paul welcomed me with such warmth, and I knew instantly that he cares deeply about the growth and development of his students. In addition to his excellent lessons on the many techniques and their details, he is an excellent storyteller (especially the ones about Rickson) and always makes the extra effort to improve our game. I felt deeply honored to receive my blue belt from him. Professor Paul's two sons Nate and Trevor are also black belts who provide a fresh contrast to Paul's "old school" jiujitsu, by focusing on not only fundamentals, but also sport jiujitsu as well. They are also amazing instructors with awesome hearts. -The Drilling. There are days where we only focus on drilling one specific move, or days when we focus on sequences and/or several moves. The curriculum here is well developed based upon the core principles of posture, pressure, and precision. All instructors and upper belts also make great efforts in walking through the details with you and addressing student-specific needs. -The Sparring. There are no meat heads here trying to smash complete beginners (and if they somehow enter the dojo, there is always someone here who will be the enforcer). Everyone is super chill and purely interested in working together to improve. If you are new, I highly suggest sparring with a purple belt or higher, so they can guide you in learning how to spar with the greatest effectiveness and highest state of calm. -The Family. I will miss training with people here. It is like a little family, and all members who stick around will become friends and find a tight-knit community of fighters that will not hesitate to protect one another and their loved ones.

The place is clean, and the mats regularly sanitized, and there is good parking in the back. The schedule makes for a full calendar, instead of some kind of Tuesday Thursday thing like a lot of other places. They have regular classes every night and alternating mornings for both beginners and master cycle members. I was looking for a place to work out that could maximize my weekly schedule. I researched a lot of places in SLC including styles that I am much more familiar with before deciding to try this school. Really, my main concern was finding a school that was well run that had a schedule with classes every night. That meant that there had to be instructors AND students at the school on as many nights as possible. So, I can't say I had many preconceived ideas about the Gracie style before checking them out. I have since been impressed with Ryan and Aidan and their easy teaching style. While I now realize that each class is a well defined product of the Gracie system, you still have to have a connection with your students to engage the class and make it fun. These guys deliver. If you haven't checked out a Gracie school before, or you want to get your start in the martial arts with a super well managed style, then this is really the place to be. A month later, I am raising this to five stars. I am a huge fan of Ryan and Aiden's style of teaching, and I've even lost 12 pounds.

There were plenty white belts and the instructor was a blue belt. He started with text book self defense for guillotine and some good basic arm bar from mount details. His instruction was thorough and he addressed the questions from the class well. I liked that he wasn't shaken by having a higher belt in his class and he catered to the beginners as it is a beginner class (fundamentals are key). I would also give credit to whoever has been training Logan because his lessons are clear and easy to follow. I hope to get back for an advanced class and possibly some sparring. No doubt these are Gracie details being handed down.

Students don't just learn, they experience positive personal growth and responsibility. I was very impressed by the conduct of his classes and the great respect that students and parents both have for him. Patient and hard work or instilled in students from an early age. I was a single Mom at the time, looking for an activity that would also teach my daughter good values. I enrolled her for her 5th birthday and ended up enrolling myself too. I really appreciate that I can attend adult class and my daughter can attend a children's class of her belt level. But we can also attend family class together on different days. I don't know of many sports where children and parents can have this time and learning together. It's very special to us. Now my whole family is enrolled at US Taekwondo including my 4 year old son. We can't say enough about how much Master Kim has meant to our family. He is an excellent and patient instructor. His prices are lower than many other studios with several no contract payment options, which is very uncommon in martial arts schools in this area. He is accredited through the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Federation headquarters in Seoul, Korea), not just the US one. He majored in Taekwondo education at University in Korea and was the national champion in South Korea for several years. I can't believe we have access to such quality TKD instruction in UT! I also appreciate that Master Kim takes the time to get to know children and their parents (whether students or not) and work with each person holistically. He assists and simultaneously works on issues with my children when I share those with him. I want my children to earn black belts, but without character development it would mean little. Master Kim and his instructors teach the same values in every single class such as respect, self-control, perseverance, and discipline. I find that TKD is excellent for the the whole family by providing exercise, quality family time, and reinforces our Christian values. Having trained at US Taekwondo for about a year and half, I can say that we feel like Master Kim and his family are family to us. We have gotten to know many of the other children and parents and it has become a fun, loving, and supportive community. We look forward to the annual BBQ and Christmas parties to spend time with everyone. I highly recommend US Taekwondo to individuals of all ages!!!
