When my kids vehicle started having issues, we were recommended to take the vehicle to this shop, the transmission was full of metal as per the tech, we authorized a rebuild and the vehicle was back with my kid three days (and $4000) later, I thought that was really fast and it was working just fine, for one week...we paid to have the vehicle towed back to the shop from the school, it took another eight weeks to get the parts in and have the vehicle back running....additionally, there were greasy hand prints all over the cabin of the vehicle, so there was little effort to keep everything clean...everything seems to be working well at the moment, but I have noticed an oil leak that was not there prior...thinking its going to another shop for that repair. read more

As a single college student, I came to Tiger Transmission after being referred by my warranty company, Transtar. I initially went on a Saturday, only to find the shop closed--despite the posted hours saying otherwise. When I returned, I waited over three hours just for a basic diagnostic. I followed up with them daily, only to be pushed back 11 days and then given information that completely contradicted what Transtar had told me. Throughout this time, I found them to be extremely unhelpful and not customer-service oriented. While the staff seemed kind on the surface, their actions didn't align--they never followed through and ultimately refused to even email my warranty company, asking me to do it instead. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience. If you're a young Black woman or just someone seeking honest and timely service, I would not recommend coming here. This could have all been communicated clearly from the beginning, but instead I was strung along, ignored, and ultimately left feeling like my warranty coverage was being dismissed. Tiger Transmission failed to repair my car. After a 3 year period they finally decided to put in a ragidy transmission that made my car inoperable when it was a relatively decent car beforehand. I had to junk it. I took them to court and won by default. Now I'm being ignored as though they have no intention of paying. So now I'm out a 3 year waisted time, I'm out of $4500, and I'm also out of a car and the cost of my car now having to be out of more money to pay for another one. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! From the moment my husband walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and went out of their way to make sure he was taken care of. They explained everything clearly both in person and over the phone, they didn't try to upsell unnecessary services, and had my car back to me in a timely manner. I absolutely do NOT recommend Tiger Transmission and Autocare in Opelika. I'm writing this review to hopefully save someone else from the terrible experience that I had. I brought my vehicle to Tiger Transmission because of issues with my transmission shuddering/shaking during takeoff and driving uphill. After they diagnosed the issue, they called and informed us that it required a transmission rebuild. We gave them the go-ahead on the rebuild, and then added on a 3-year warranty ($4,600). When I picked up my "fixed" car, the issue was still there, along with a new additional issue. I had to bring my vehicle back to them two more times, and the issues with my transmission were never fixed. Finally I spoke with the manager, Josh (in person), and the owner, Elizabeth Bledsoe (over the phone), and asked for a refund. The owner became hostile and yelled at me over the phone. She said I would absolutely not receive a refund from them, and then hung up on me. All this to say, I recommend taking your vehicle to any shop except Tiger Transmission and Autocare. They were not capable of fixing my vehicle, they would not refund the "service" they "provided," they lacked communication skills, and the owner is the most unprofessional person I've ever had the displeasure of speaking on the phone with. My car is still shuddering/shaking, and now when I put it in park I get a warning that says it is not in park (which is a brand new issue). This has been stressful to say the least- please save yourself from a similar experience. read more

TERRIBLE!! They take forever and barely answer the phone! I was told that my vehicle would be ready at the end of the week or beginning of the next week by the man that owns the shop. "Kim" (the person that answers the phone) basically called me a liar and said that no one would ever give an estimated time. Then I was blamed because my vehicle had been there for a while before I could get the transmission. The catch is.. the entire too much my vehicle was there they never touched it to even see what was wrong with my transmission. I was just told that I "most likely" need a new one. This is truly some of the WORST customer service in the area. I will NEVER be back. I'm actually on my way to see if I can just get the transmission I paid for and just take my vehicle elsewhere! I don't trust "Kim" at this point and I'm sure they will make things MORE difficult for me since I have spoken my mind. read more

I took my son's vehicle (AU student) to Tiger Transmission as he was having problems with, what possibly could have been his transmission. From my research on the Internet, I wasn't convinced that his vehicle's issues were in the transmission as I thought maybe it was an electrical or solenoid issue. First, I left the vehicle with TT for them to test drive. When I came back, they were out test-driving my son's vehicle. When they drove up from the test drive, both guys in the vehicle were smoking!! That PMO!!! Immediately, they claimed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. Not trusting these guys, I took my vehicle to another transmission/auto business (different city) where it was determined that all I had wrong was an electrical issue with the transmission which costs WAAAAY less to fix than a rebuilt transmission. From my experience, Tiger Transmission attempted to screw me or at best, were too incompetent to find the real problem. I would not go to Tiger Transmission. And smoking in my vehicle... Once brought my jeep tj in to have the time chain replaced, they took 2 weeks to replace the chain. First off, it was two teeth off, so my jeep sounded like a shacking jar of marbles. Second, ended up fixing the job myself like I should've done in the first place. Later realized they FOR SOME REASON left timing chain cover off and found out later after doing the work myself. My transmission went out earlier this year, so I took it to Tiger Transmission. Long story short it is August, my car is still leaking transmission oil, and smoking. Every time I call them they tell me to bring it back, They will keep it for two weeks call me and tell me it's ready. I get it back home, by the time I pull in the drive way its' smoking like a barbeque grill on the fourth of July, and oil leaking on the concrete like I poured water on it. I paid half in cash and took out a loan through them to pay for it. To this day my mother and I are still paying on it. The people in the office when you call to check on your car or get updates are very rude. They haven't did anything that they told me they would. They say that they will give you a call back, and don't. My mom did a review on google, when she tried to call them and tell them that m car was doing the same thing they were very mean to her and told her that they would not look at it until she took the review down. When they were working on my car they got oil all in my car that will not come out. The put a oil handprint on my vehicle that will not come out. I'm a college student and I have been having to take courses online because I do not have a way back and forth to school, also I have not been able to work almost all year due to the fact that I have not had a vehicle. I'm a BIG fan of Tiger Transmission. They saved our neck, yesterday. My son was traveling from South Alabama and broke down Friday night with the transmission fluid pouring out the rear seal. I found Tiger Transmission as a random nearby choice. He was able to limp in and leave the car in their driveway. We were coming to the football game the next morning, so we drove by to see if they were open on Saturday. They were, but planned to close at noon. It was almost noon. I explained the problem to the owner, John, and he had his mechanic take a look. They said they could replace the seal and fluid while we were at the game, and if it checked out okay, we could pick it up and drive it home to Birmingham. The mechanic stayed late to do the work and John met me at halftime of the game to settle up and get the key. I'm happy to say we made it home without any problems. John proved his honesty and integrity by doing what he said he would, even though he planned to leave early to go to the game. I was over a barrel and he could have taken advantage of our plight, but did not. I recommend Tiger Transmission for an honest evaluation and helpfulness. read more
