My husband's go to is their quesadillas. He's generally satisfied, but prefers the ones from Moe's, Orders are taken at the counter and brought to your table. There's a self-service bar of hot sauces that changes day to day. I wish there was a plain salsa available because sometimes I don't like any of the choices. We just ordered a selection of things - quesadillas for the kids, nachos and tacos for the grown ups. Everything we had was good, seemed pretty fresh, and they got our orders right. The food wasn't super warm, and I didn't think the portions were great. I was ordering for a crew -- I thought I had over-ordered, but I felt pretty sheepish when it seemed like I kind of under-ordered. For those who have never experienced a Tijuana Flats before, it is best described as an upscale Taco Bell...with booze. This location is on the main strip of Champions Gate (a popular area for short term near Disney rentals). It has both indoor and outdoor seating (patio is dog friendly). You order at the counter and pay, then your food is brought to you. We ordered beef hard tacos, beef enchiladas and chicken soft-shell tacos. All were yummy, if not anything too unique. Tacos come with a side of tortilla chips. Salsa, guac and queso are extra. Small size will be plenty for chips provided. There is a hot sauce "bar" with many varieties ranging from mild to very hot. I love the sweet chili. My one complaint was that service was slow for there only being 3 other customers in the place. It took probably 20 mins to get our food. Our server was attentive though and refilled my drink for me. Bonus: Bathrooms (single stall) were clean, large and accessible. And even had a functioning purse hook! (you would not believe how many accessible bathrooms do not include this very necessary feature!!) Sink faucet was very powerful and I got a bit of a shower. Beware! The first two times we ordered from here were great. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered nachos. The nachos were great with the right amount of toppings, plenty of cheese, and a very good and not spicy pico. Then the last three time have been a disaster. Two times the cheese was applied by someone who was lactose intolerant...barely any cheese on nachos even when we paid for extra cheese. This last time even though we ordered with no jalapenos and the label said no jalapenos, the nachos were covered in jalapenos. I asked for pico and hardly any pico was provided . In my wife's words "enough for two chips." My garbage can is rapidly filling with their failures. When the food is good, it is great...but the restaurant is too inconsistent and lacking in basic quality control. I might expect this from a mom and pop operation, but they claim to have leaders with experience in the industry. My suspicion is that the business has grown too big, too fast and as a result the owners no longer have enough oversight of all of the restaurants. As a result, training is lacking and employees do not have any sort of quality control. I love Tijuana Flats and I am so excited to have one near my house now. Tijuana Flats is fast and casual Tex Mex. On Tuesdays, they have Taco Tuesday specials and you can get two tacos, chips, and a drink for $5.49. The tacos here are large so I usually eat one and take one for later. I highly recommend the queso, beef tacos and chicken tacos. If you want something else I really like the chicken enchiladas. My dad loves the chicken chimichanga wet with queso. You can make your burrito or chimichanga "wet" by adding sauce on top. You can make something a meal with rice and beans and a drink. You can add salsa or queso to your order. So for me the only downside of this place is that all of these additions can add up, making the meal a bit pricier. Tijuana Flats is know for their variety of hot sauces so be sure to check a couple of those out. They are complimentary. They also have beer, wine, and desserts available. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am to have a TFlats close to home but it's not so great having one so close to work because we have been ordering here at least twice a week since they've opened! TFlats is by far my favorite texmex restaurant, you'll order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you when it's ready. Non alcoholic drinks come with free refills. Don't forget the hot sauce bar! You can try super hot or very mild. What's great is all the food is delicious and it's cheaply priced. This location is small even with seating outside and the staff is still being trained. Everyone we spoke to was very nice but ordering did take longer than usual and there was an issue somewhere during ordering because we ended up with two giant trays of chips. We ordered chips and queso at the table which is a must try!! I also got the blackened chicken burrito which was just as good as other locations. The staff was great about checking on us and getting drink refills. Even better, they packed chips and extra queso for us to take home. Ordering over the phone is extremely easy!!!! Like I said we've been doing it at least twice a week at work. We call and explain we have multiple orders but one person will do the pickup. They repeat the order over the phone to confirm and everything is ready within 10 minutes. They also have designated parking spaces for people picking up. Each order is packaged with the name of the person picking up and a sticker with each order detailing any specifications. We love that in my office so we're never having to wonder whose order is which. Takeout is just as delicious as dining in but very convenient. This location is a tourist location so I'm assuming that's why the food wasn't as good as the other locations I've gone to. I ordered the steak flautas with extra steak and they didn't have extra steak in them AND the steak was still pink inside. The service was ok. The manager did come by and ask us if everything was ok but I didn't bring up the issue of my food... I was more concerned with the loud group of young boys who wasted their beer on my husband and son who, as they were leaving, were taking their beers outside with them. I have found this to be my number two goto for lunch now. If I am feeling like I am not fat enough for the day, I will beeline it right to TJ. I have been to this place four times now, and each time I get the same great service. The girls are always quick, energetic and helpful. I've only had a line once and it moved fast. The steak flautas have become my staple. They come clean with everything on the side, so it makes them easy to dip. You get a side of queso, sour cream, guac, onions and tomatoes. More than enough to get through, and enough to leave you wishing you had some chips to go with it. If you are really hungry, a side of rice and refried beans is great to top it off. They have multiple beers on tap as well as a good selection of bottled beer. All pretty fair prices. They also offer taco deals on Tuesday and happy hour daily at four.
