Chimichanga was pretty good. Went there everyday for the last three days for lunch because I love Tijuana flats. Today they decided to fold the tortilla a certain way to where it's like 65 percent tortilla and not much chicken or beans lmao. Take a look at the pics. Service is good. Ambiance is good. Ive eaten at several other Tijuana Flats locations and loved it, however this is our second take out experience from this location and sadly both fell short of our expectations. On both occasions add-ons like salsa and guacamole were paid for and not included. Hot sauces requested were not received. Today all items were cold by the time we got home. I got a dos tacos chicken. The chicken was stone cold (we live less than 10 min away so it shouldn't have been) as were the tortillas. My mom's shrimp was similarly cold. 3 visits ago, we ordered chicken chimichangas. When we arrived home with the order, they had given us burritos. The time after that ( we decided to try again), the same thing happened. We ordered chimichangas and received burritos. Last week we decided to try one last time to get chimichangas. Yes, we got them. and they were TERRIBLE. They have wrapped them differently and very little chicken and we couldn't even find the cheese. They were mostly deep fried batter and hardly any filling. Not again. read more

We got a two taco meal with shredded chicken, and a blackened chicken burrito meal. $31 seemed a bit overpriced, then we tried to eat, shredded chicken was cold and clearly days old, and the burrito was a sad pouch of wilted lettuce and flavorless meat and refried beans. Extremely disappointed. Had only eaten two bites and we decided it belonged in the garbage. What a waste of money. Good service, but inexcusable food. I really like this joint. Both times I have eaten here the food has been fresh and made to order. The guacamole is better than average and their burritos are better than Chipolte, TBH. Their customer service was terrific and they check on you often to make sure you are in good shape. The place is clean and parking is average. We recently visited Tijuana Flats by way of suggestion of a friend while visiting the area. She had eaten there before and enjoyed it. Upon entering the restaurant you grab your own menu, study over it, make a decision, and then order at the counter. The staff will bring your food out to you and come around periodically to offer refills or anything else you may need, which I enjoyed in the fast food setting. I ordered the Chicken Flautas, which were served with veggies on the side (lettuce, onion, tomato), refried beans, and rice. The flautas were tasty, and the rice and beans were alright. I opted to add guacamole and queso, but the meal didn't come with any chips, so I just ate them with the flautas, which was pretty good. B opted for the burrito, and I preferred his dish to mine, though I only had a few bites. His meal did come with chips, so I enjoyed some of those as well. The best thing about Tijuana Flats is that they have a huge hot sauce bar. I am a major fan of hot sauce. So much so that I added a star to my review just for this bar. It was fantastic! I tried so many sauces and fell in love with one. They also sell the sauces on site, so if you're like me and find one that you can't live without you'll be able to take it home with you. If you're in the area and looking for a fast food Mexican joint Tijuana Flats it's a good spot for that. It's casual, pretty cheap, and you've gotta check out that hot sauce bar! read more

On vacation in Sarasota for the week, looking for some decent Mexican takeout. Picked this place after a random Sunday night yelp for something quick and inexpensive. Turned out there was great food, and very reasonably priced. But that wasn't even the highlight. As something of a hot sauce snob/enthusiast I was totally blown away by the hot sauce bar, and the quality of the sauces. Delicious, easy to sample, and all really good. And a few that were hot AF yet still tasty. The best thing was the manager, I won't try to spell out his name as I'm not sure how to, but he was AWESOME. We started talking hot sauces and realized he was legit both in tolerance and knowledge of peppers etc. He even went into his personal stash and got some sauce that melted my face. Outstanding move. I came back the next night (yes, that good) and tried to buy some of above mentioned fuego sauce. Dude went BACK into his stash and gave me his personal bottle as they had none to sell. Very cool move. I'll be back and truly impressed by the personal attention and care given by the manager. A+ experience and will def recommend to people. read more

Alright so let's start off with the rating, a solid three based on a few thing... but don't get it twisted it's NOT all rainbows and unicorns in this review. First off, the staff is great. Never eaten inside but I'm sure from what I've seen and heard it's good. LOVE the art on the walls and ceiling inside, and the music is usually pretty tight and not some really lame background music like most places. So I dig that aspect. Now let's get to the food. Between me and my roommate we've taken advantage of their decent deal of Taco Tuesday's and Throwback Thursdays for a little over a month and a half. So let's start with the bad and the main reason I took not one but two entire stars and that is the BEEF. Now try to understand, I've tried plenty of tacos from many a Tex-mex, taco truck, etc... but I digress, every time I would get tacos on Tuesday the beef was just SO greasy. Like not the good kind that taste good but the kind that literally masks the flavor of almost EVERYTHING on the taco! I keep going back hoping it's gonna be better but it never is... and I've also tried ordering at rush hour in hopes of fresher, less gangrene tasting meat. Has yet to happen. Mind you i get hard taco shells and I've never had an issue of the shell softening up on the bottom... it's just the meat! It tastes gnarly in a bad way, nothing else I can say about it. Now the burritos(Throwback Thursdays) oddly enough don't have the same issue and has been a pretty big hit though I'm almost positive this may just be that the burrito and fillings absorb the grease a bit so it isn't as concentrated, but who knows. But that aside, they're some big burritos. A lot of people can't even finish them. I tend to eat half and save for later. All and all I'm sure we will return, but probably just for their Thursday deal on Burritos.. but man! Yes, this place is one of several, but I always feel like my food was made for me my way. It is quicker than your typical Mexican restaurant but not the fast food flavor of the other popular Mexican fast food chains. The guacamole is one of the best in the area as are the fresh chips and salsa. The service is young friendly local 20somethings who seem to enjoy working here. This site is clean and well managed. Plenty of clean tables, and the sauce stand is always fully loaded with to go or staying in containers. Music keeps the place going without drowning your conversation. Plenty of outside seating for doggie dining or simply to enjoy the strip mall breezes. Parking can sometimes be tricky, especially on Taco Tuesdays. But it is after all at the corner of a Publix plaza, so if you don't mind, you can park in the wider area and walk over under the plaza awnings. read more

We stopped here after walking around Myakka park for a snack because we were in between meals. You order at the counter then sit down and then they bring your food to your table. I got some chicken tacos, and my boyfriend got a quesadilla. They were both quite good! They have a hot sauce bar with just about any kind of sauce you can imagine. We tried a few tasty ones and even tried one of the hottest, which alright spicy... Didn't kill us For dessert we had to try the cookie dough flauta, which is cookie dough wrapped in dough and fried. It was really good... The cookie dough was still gooey and it came with chocolate sauce to dip them in. It was ridiculous, but that's right up or alley. We also witnessed the staff being extremely kind, friendly and accommodating to an older gentleman who needed extra attention and help ordering! So nice to be see that. I was first introduced to T Flats because my son was going to school like two blocks from the original location. There was a crappy recycled vibe, all banged-up galvanized horse troughs and artistically graffiti'd décor that held up to the rowdy crowds tanking up on $5 rice bowls (man, I miss those!) and too much beer. The portions were HUGE. Then they got big backers and sold franchises, and they've kind of become hit or miss. It's especially disappointing when they do a crap job on the murals (holy cow, the one across from Sarasota Memorial has taken some bad turns over the years...) but this location really made an effort and paid for a professional job. I feel badly that the location kind of sucks because they deserve more business. No, the portions aren't quite what they were in back in the day, but they're decent-sized, tasty, they almost never screw up your order, and I can't say I've ever had so many people ask to refill my drink as they do here. They really want to know if the food is good and they want you to be happy. They seem to dote on everyone. Now, if they would just make sure to always have my favorite two sauces on the bar at all times, I'd make the trip that much more often. read more

I had enjoyed their foods thru Uber eats so much that we decided to stop in one afternoon. It was our first time ever visiting a Tijuana Flats location. It was super cute inside. You walk in and place your order at the counter and they bring your order to your table when it's done. Their food is amazing. But my goodness their service was out of this wold. I've eaten at the South Trail Tijuana Flats a number of times and have enjoyed the food and the vibe. This Clark Road store is smaller but the level of service here was just outstanding. The many choices can be daunting but a young "dining room hostess" took plenty of time to explain the various choices and later take our orders at the register. She helped carry drinks (there were 4 of us) and cleared the table of table tents and the large napkin dispenser to make plenty of room. Her attention would put some full service restaurants to shame. BTW this is the exact opposite experience we had at Chipotle Grill on a first visit where we end up in a fast moving line with questions being barked while trying to read their confusing overhead menu. The Salsa bar (I'm a Ghost Chili type of guy) and the great service is what pushes this place to 4 stars. Great place to take the kids. Average+ food - but the service is excellent! Of course, SRQ is not a hotbed for Mexican food. It's a collection of fast food (chipotle, Moes, T.F's) and some local places that fail to impress. Have visited 3 different times and have been extremely impressed. They open the door for you as you enter and exit, explain the menu in detail, come to your table for refills and are more pleasant than if you were at a Zagat rated restaurant.
