Excited to have found Reyna's Taqueria for lunch. We had a taste for Mexican. Our usual go to spot was too far in Bradenton - The Spot. We found this place and it was even better. I wanted shrimp which they don't have at The Spot. My husband wanted sopes which are great at both places. He had two steak sopes. I had a shrimp huarache. We both enjoyed our food very much. The person who took our order at the front was nice. They also bring your food to you. They have inside and outside seating. We sat inside. The only reason I'm giving this place one star is because the host was nice and the margarita was good. We came in looking forward to chips, salsa, and tacos, but unfortunately left completely disappointed. We ended up spending about $60 and threw the food away. The chips were much too thick for our liking and were very bland--we actually had to add salt ourselves at the table. The salsa was also disappointing; it was very watery with only a few pieces of chopped tomato. The chicken and steak were very bland and the barbacoa was mostly grease and fat. This is my go-to taco place. I always had full amount of protein for each tacos, so I think the pricing is fair. Only thing is for the delivery, I wish send enough salsa. Other than that, they are great! read more

A top Mexican food spot in Sarasota. If you are looking for good Mexican food in the area the is one of the better spots. My wife and I stopped by a couple weeks ago for dinner after a long day at the beach and we ordered a pastor burrito and pastor torta. We got additionally served a starter plate of chips and salsa. My wife complained the chips were a little stale, but I thought they were good and you could tell they were made in-house which I appreciated. My torta was quite good, and my wife's burrito was alright, she ended up switching for mine. We both felt the pastor and spanish rice was lacking a little flavor, but overall I thought the food was good. My wife loved her horchata, which I just can't drink because of how sweet they are. Overall a good spot if you are looking for Mexican food, and I want to come back some time and try their tacos. read more

We always get Fajitas ,for some reason, and they have some of the best around. I get the steak and shrimp combo and my wife gets the chicken fajitas. Always made with fresh ingredients and some of the best around. Next time I'm going to try the Brisket tacos I saw being served at another table. Dinner at La Reina was nothing short of exceptional. My partner ordered the chicken sopes--two generously sized, beautifully composed pieces that were crisp, tender, and layered with perfectly balanced flavors. I went for three beef birria tacos, and they were absolutely scrumptious: rich, deeply seasoned, and clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients. We started with a large serving of freshly made guacamole, paired with what tasted like homemade chips--warm, crisp, and impossible to stop eating. Everything on the table tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. To drink, I enjoyed a cold Modelo, while my companion had a distinctive mango brew that was light, refreshing, and delicious. We got off the highway because of the star rating of these establishment. It had a 4.7 or something like that, very disappointing. Was looking forward to a nice Mexican dinner. Do not make your decision based on ratings. The cook in the kitchen could've been writing the reviews. Too bad. The best part was the host very nice and professional. Good food and very friendly service! I had been waiting to try this spot for a while after reading the reviews and here's my honest opinion: Food is good, but it's expensive. I'm more than willing to pay the prices because it's a small local business and it is good, but just a heads up. Don't come here expecting $1 tacos. As a person who lived in Mexico as a teen, I'm pretty picky with my tacos. I got tacos al pastor with rice and beans and I'd give it a 7.5/10. Plenty of meat and flavor was good! I wish I would've had a little pineapple with my tacos. My husband got birria tacos. He said they were good. Waitress asked if he wanted cheese, but didn't tell us it was extra. I just assumed cheese came with the tacos since that's the only way I've ever eaten them before. We also got churros! Everything we ate was tasty, but we spent almost $60 with a tip. Unsure of the other high ratings, maybe the diners and SRQ magazine that recommended it, stopped by the CBD store next door first. First of all, the corn tortillas are not house made, they are package perfect. The chips served with the mediocre salsa for a ridiculously overpriced $6 were like cardboard. We complained about and a manager came by to educate us that they intentionally over fry them to make them rock hard. The veggie tacos had a pitiful amount of tasteless veggie mix, fajitas were inedible, quesadillas were ok. Hard to ruin griiled cheese. Guacamole served with the fajitas was from a package. Entire meal was overpriced and mostly inedible. Do yourself a favor and stay home instead. I wish we had done so! read more

I want small bites and it's perfect because they sell individual tacos. $4/pc + tax. I ordered Barbacoa and Shrimp one. Both were delicious but I would recommend their Shrimp Tacos. This may not be fair. Full disclosure, I was just satisfying a craving for salsa and queso and that is all I am reviewing. So probably take this with a grain of salt. I have three complaints. One star off for each. First, the amount of chips theu give you is laughable, especially when compared to other taquerias or even when compared to the size of the dips. Even if I had only ordered a salsa or a queso, I would easily have had half the dip left when I ran out of chips. The chips were fine. Clearly freshly made and thick so they didn't fall apart, but also very bland. Could have used more salt at a minimum. The salsa was basically water with some chunks. So runny. Almost no substance to it. But, it did have flavor- not much mind you, but noticeably some good spices. On the other hand, the queso was nothing. A cup of cheese with inexplicable pieces of corn and no flavor otherwise. This was the blandest queso I ever had. So for me, I don't think it's worth coming back and trying their other items. The appetizer is as such a miss that I don't see myself taking another chance. But again, such a limited review can probably be ignored. read more

We got take out. The tortilla chips were thick, crunchy, substantial, not overly salted. The guac we got with them was fresh, citrusy, delicious. Then we had a chorizo chimichanga and a chicken chimichanga respectively. Both were delicious and satisfying. Will definitely order again! Very delicious! One of our new favorite spots :) read more

Reyna's has the best tacos we've found in the greater Sarasota area. Their Birria tacos are absolutely delicious, but getting regular meats is also very good. I usually get 3 tacos: Al Pastor, Chorizo and Campechano for a medium/heavy lunch. All 3 flavors are good; the Al Pastor is griddled not cooked on a spit, but they still do a solid job at it. If you ask for their habenero salsa with it (doesn't come by default), you can make them *very* spicy. Their salsa's are delicious and they have beers and mexican sodas to wash them down. Service is always very fast and efficient, ambiance is that of your typical dine-or-takeout taco place -- though very much on the cleaner/nicer side of that spectrum. Definitely recommend if you're craving tacos in Sarasota. read more

The reviews were promising, exciting. And I had heard of this taqueria in October. Plus I adore truly " home made" Mexican food- - grew up on it from Los Angeles born mom who made enchiladas from scratch. First, I love to cook and love to use fresh spices onions garlic red white wines fresh lemon and find ethnic spices fun. I adore sauces that use a variety of seasoning for it adds wonderful full bodied steeped flavor. In the 70's and 80's I was so lucky to have an expense account with my corporate jobs In NYC and ate Very Well! The Saturday only tamales were almost the BEST I ever had in LA, San Diego, Arizona and Santa Fe - - a dish on their daily specials menu with truly magnificent subtle flavors. A tiny pot of a spicy " chiles de ancho" sauce brought the flavors to a. 10 plus. Yes the carnitas taco was also a super yummy 10 as well But the barbacoa sope so highly rated was almost tasteless and sadly bland. Barbacoa is cooked like a marvelous stew with incredible flavor and my favorite. The highly praised guacamole was very bland - - no cilantro no garlic not enough onion no onion powder no lemon and almost no fresh tomatoes.... A two. The black beans also sadly bland tasteless and so much more could have been done with the Mexican rice. We shall return again and order off the specials menu. I think because they now have so many customers they are quickly cooking " in bulk ". No time to pay more attention to seasoning . . . . Not wise. read more

I am quick to judge a Mexican restaurant with high standards; particularly Taco De Birria, the tortilla, and Horchata. Very few places actually have these items made correctly, but Reyna's Taqueria is absolutely perfect! They press their own tortillas daily, their horchata is perfectly balanced, the Birria was a little more soft than I prefer, but the flavor was delicious. The service provided by the owners was very catering. The inside of the restaurant was very clean. I will gladly come back to enjoy it again! read more
