We went here around 8 PM. It wasn't our first choice, but we heard it was good at the hotel we were staying at. I wasn't very hungry though I hadn't eaten all day but at that time of night I can't eat a lot soI ordered the wicked queso with chips, my husband ordered. A gringo burrito and we both had a beer bottled. I wasn't really impressed with the ambience of the place or with the server we had. It looks like they hire a lot of teenagers are early 20 something. The only lady that looks like she was walking around doing stuff was an older woman with the whitish blonde hair. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed. It was a lot of people at the bar. We ended up sitting in the bar because the dining room room was packed and it was a little too cold to sit outside. It would've been nice if they would've had the heating things on outside maybe we would've sat out there. Our server took our order for drinks, came back pretty quick and I also had a water then he took our food order. Someone else brought it back and I never saw our server again. Met some old friends here since they stayed nearby. We have frequented the Bradenton restaurant more often so we were excited to revisit the Sarasota version. The salsa had great texture and flavor. My favorito burrito was large and accompanied with rice and black beans. The house margaritas were terrific and went down easily. No room for dessert. Francesca took good care of us; overall, a nice evening out. Parking was not a problem given their private lot. We dined in the rear room so noise was not a problem. Ok food. Not great and not terrible. I stood there at the hostess counter for a long time as Server was by didn't even look me. I didn't even speak to me. Didn't even say someone will be wet right with you. Finally, I looked at one waitress and kind of flagged her down and said hey, somebody gonna see me or what? Then she came over and grabbed a menu and sat me and then took my drink order and I think brought me chips and salsa even though she wasn't my waitress then my real waitress came over and was slightly English challenged and she acted like she really didn't care. The food wasn't excellent enough to justify lackluster service. The chips were fresh and the salsa was really pretty tasty, but of course my waitress didn't check in on me to bring me more salsa or bring me more tea :( I ordered their ribeye burrito, but you know it had a lot of huge tortilla and a lot of rice and very little ribeye. When ever I'm in the Sarasota area I love coming to this restaurant, the "Wicked Cantina", the food is really good here it's definitely top-notch Mexican! They actually have really good ribeye steak, you barely ever get that at some Mexican restaurants this was the real thing. So delicious! The meat was tender and juicy. Really good beans and rice. The Mojito on the other hand was extremely sour. I had to add more suger to it and water to dilute it. But it's ok. The food more than makes up for it, and we had really great service. Our server was so attentive and helpful, especially with my allergies. Love the atmosphere there inside and they have a huge outside area at life. We will definitely be back again. read more

(see what I did there?) And really, this whole place is. I love the sunny decor and "take it easy" vibes. It definitely has a warm and welcoming thing going on. This was my second visit to this location and I had forgotten just how good the house margaritas are! (lime'y... not mix'y). Last time, I just had appetizers. This time, I had the two beef taco plate. Wow, those bubbly hard shells are unique-and tasty. (You can choose flour, as well) I loved the airy crunch. And they're loaded with filling, too. This whole meal, with black beans and Mexi rice-was generously portioned. There was something in either the beef seasoning or the rice that was too tomatoe'y for me... but that's just me. I'll go chicken and switch up the rice next time. The server also had some intriguing suggestions. I'll follow their lead. I've been to their location on Bradenton Beach twice, as well-and I always leave full and happy. And I'm super excited they're now in St Pete. Nice clean and just okay. We arrived at 4 ish I had house marg, strong $7 cheese enchilada and pork taco. They charge $3.25 for enchilada and $3.25 for queso on top. No one ever tells ya the extra charge. My better half had chicken quesadillas. Evidently you pay $3.95 to have chicken on your quesadillas which made them $20. read more

We enjoy it when we are out with friends and we want a nice spot for lunch or dinner and drinks. We ordered margaritas and it came with all the fixings to make a perfect margarita at home. I am sure they are so much better in the restaurant. We ordered the queso, salsa and chips. Kayce, it was great because it has all sorts of stuff in it not just cheese. The chips were thin, salty and crispy not too much salt. We ordered a burrito plate and the blackened mahi mahi tacos. My wife and I were looking on Yelp for a great place for our last lunch in Sarasota before coming back to Minnesota. We sauntered in at 11 AM, right before the awesome looking place opened up to make us happy. We were the first ones there, they had a nice beer selection. I ordered the grouper tacos, "Hey, I am in Sarasota, you have to get Grouper" The fish was great and prepared and presented wonderfully with a nice sauce, The awesome server brought out chips and salsa, I would have liked a spicier salsa, but I get it. We have a place in Minnesota, where you can order spicier salsa for free, that would have been sweet. I ordered a local IPA and the tacos were wondaful with the side of black beans I got. Complimentary chips and salsa upon sitting down. Unfortunately they only have one salsa for the house, but they have a couple kinds of hot sauce to spice it up (if you're interested in that). Great house margaritas. Not too sweet, not too strong. So far, I've ordered: Combo #3: crunchy wicked taco with one chicken enchilada and one shredded pork enchilada Shrimp fajitas: great flavor. We loved the house salsa and chips! Delish! I ordered a happy hour house marg for $7. It was good! We had the pork nachos, which were awesome! It was a ton of food. We probably would have been fine with just that one dish. We also had the shrimp ceviche. This was excellent. The portion was small in comparison. I had the mahi tacos (fried) and they were way too salty. I could barely eat them, unfortunately. Even my husband (who loves salty food) did not like them. Next time I would get the mahi grilled instead of fried. The service was fine but we did wait a while for the check. Overall the vibes here are good and the food was great! I came to have a quick lunch with my boyfriend before heading to work. I've always wanted to visit this place but never had a chance to do it for some reason until this time. The hostess was very nice but I requested a booth or table with a view and she took us to a high table. I didn't mind it at the time. The server came to greet us after a few minutes and brought us the menu. I wish they had rolled up silverware and nice plates preset on tables with water glasses but the setting was rather very plain. We ordered a steak burrito and some chicken enchiladas, I asked if they had mole sauce but they didn't have that nor salsa verde to condiment our food. I was disappointed with the presentation of the food because it didn't look appealing nor interesting. The flavor wasn't what I expected, not authentic Mexican. We had some margaritas as well but they had a lot of chunky pieces of cucumber and I didn't think they were very good. Well... Before the theater, we decided to try a new place that we have not experienced before. It is the Wicked Cantina on 41 south in downtown Sarasota. There are three of these restaurants in the chain. I must say... Everything worked! Service spectacular. The margaritas were killer. And though we sat at the high tops at the bar it was a very pleasant experience. The food was awesome. We made up for the Cinco de Mayo that we missed in May. The ambience was accommodating, friendly, and for the most part a good bang for your buck! We sat inside, but there was a lovely guitarist, Ken Macy, offering a delightful rate of tunes in the outside deck. If it wasn't so hot and humid out, I would've preferred to enjoy the music that he was providing. All in all... We had a great time and it was a lovely experience! Tried this place out today and was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty busy lunch rush, but our server was there for us at any time needed. The atmosphere was good. For a crowded place, it was pretty quiet and comfortable. I got the cauliflower tacos. They were good and well presented. My friend got the cowboy brisket tacos and those were good, but definitely had a little too much liquid still draining from the brisket. Parking lot was pretty full, but we were both still able to find spots. I'd say the price of lunch was a little too high. We both got 2 tacos and it ended up costing 50 bucks.
