So... we went back. I'll start by saying the service was excellent--very quick and very kind. I got the veggie fajitas again, and unfortunately there were meat pieces in them again. I'm not someone who likes to make a scene about things like that, so I didn't say anything, but others definitely would have. It would be different if it was just one small piece, but both times there were multiple pieces of different meats mixed in. My mom originally ordered the burrito grande, but it came out cold throughout. We sent it back and she ordered the sizzling burrito again instead, which she enjoyed a lot. There was also a small issue with the bill where we were charged for refills even though I didn't get one. When we mentioned it to our server, she immediately took both refills off the bill. Overall, the service was phenomenal, but because of the repeated issue with the veggie fajitas, we probably won't be back. read more

Ambiance 10 Service 5 (sorry) Food -3 ( not sorry) The $26 faitas was full of mystery meats and didn't have any shrimp in it. (The Mgr. Said they must've forgotten the shrimp and brought a side after I brought it to her attention) It was drenched in a rancid cooking oil that made the whole dish suspect. The MEGA burrito had very little sign of ground beef in it, but plenty of crusty refried beans smothered in a tasteless white sauce. I kept searching the burrito hoping to find the beef, but never did. I would have told this to the waiter had he ever asked, but he never did. Perhaps I came too late to closing? Perhaps they thought I'd never check my Faitas to go? Perhaps the Cook was off on Mondays? But spending $60.00 for two oversized mounds of "authentic" Mexican Slop, I'll never know if this was a one-off. read more

Enjoyed dinner at the bar before the trolley ride. The interior was nice with carved chairs & lots of color. My wine for $7 was good & my husband had the happy hour tequila pour. The salsa provided with the chips was extremely bland so we asked for some spicy salsa & they brought it out & we mixed it with th other salsa & it was much better! We shared the corn ribs to start - they were excellent! The other app my husband got was raw oysters - they were enormous & NOT fresh & we sent the uneaten one's back & told the bartender to let the kitchen know that they were old. My shrimp dinner was very good & I like how the shrimp were butterflied. My husband got chicken enchiladas & while the chicken was moist, he did not care for the seasoning. He eats enchiladas all the time & they normally do not have a strong seasoning inside. read more

This was a wonderful experience. We actually went back the next day! The salsa is amazing as as the guacamole. My husband ordered the chimichanga and it was cooked to Perfection and presented beautifully. I ordered the empanadas and it was way more food than I was expecting. Crust was a little thick , I definitely wouldn't have minded it being a little thinner but they were delicious nonetheless. The server was the absolute sweetest and very personable and attentive. Love her! My husband also had the old fashioned which is a Different Twist on an original with a smoky flavor and a hint of corn. Or corn husk. We were so stuffed we didn't have any room for dessert. When we return the next day we decided to grab some food to go and just got chips and salsa and guacamole , we also picked out some of the different treats that can be found at the register station. I have ordered on line for pickup a number of times and they NEVER get the order right. This time, I ordered flautas (fried corn tortillas) and they gave me tacos with flour tortillas that were so soggy I scraped out the filling and threw them away. They also forgot the tortillas that went with the ChoriQueso. This isn't the first time....usually they forget the sides (rice and beans). Inside the restaurant, it's fine....on line orders, forget it. I will NEVER go back there for an on line order. read more

The place was nice and clean and the people polite. I thought the food was at first very salty and that was the only thing I could taste. I had to have the manager provide me with a different meal which was much better. I would suggest the food be marinated with a minor amount of salt and have the cook make sure it is not salty. I wanted to have a Chelada drink and they didn't know how to make it so they may want to provide a little more training in that department. There was a small bit of communication issue and I had to have another waitress help out. The Fajita special unfortunately is only available later on in the day when it would be noisy and crowded and that is a no go for me. I would go again and try the Fajitas and see if they are seasoned nicely and if they know how to make a Margarita which hopefully they do. read more

The food and atmosphere was good. Hubby ordered the Tacos Al carbon w/ a steak, carnitas and chicken taco and I ate the Street grilled chicken breast tacos. The service was great! So I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant Since I came to Sarasota many years ago. My friend suggested Mr Tequila and I'm so glad she did. Four of us met for lunch on a Sunday at noon. The restaurant was quiet (although it did get a little busier later). The ambiance is "cute" ~ all of the chairs are wood carved Mexican pictures stories. We had a variety from the menu: Taco Salad, Poco Loco, Vegan Burrito (in a bowl) and Chicken Burrito in a bowl. Everyone was pleased and could have taken 1/2 of each h serving home the serving sizes were so large. Our waitress was fabulous, letting us enjoy the food and conversation but checking in occasionally. She graciously accommodated separate checks. Absolutely will be back with others. Don't let its location in a strip mall turn you off, it was worth the visit! read more

It's Fajita Day At least it was Fajita Day on this Thursday, and we learned Tuesday is Taco Tuesday. It was a good day to stop in for dinner. When you first step into Mr. Tequila the colors fill your eyes, and this is not just walls painted in festive colors. The back of each chair and each tabletop has a colorful scene. It is really striking. We were shown to a table and our server was right over to take drink orders. Chips and salsa soon followed, with both of us getting separate dishes of salsa. No worry about double dipping. We of course both got fajitas, mine steak. It took a bit long for the food at about 20 minutes, but we worked on the chips and I was only aware of the time because I timed it. When the food did arrive we had a tableful of things. My steak was nice and tender and the mixture of items in my skillet were all very good. A separate plate of even more items made for a lot of food. We ate what we could and brought the rest home. It was a good visit. We both liked our server and she took very good care of us. Because it was fajita day our bill was quite reasonable, which we also liked. read more

This is minor, but if there are 2 people at the table, they bring out fresh made chips, AND a salsa bowl for each person!!! Who does that? Went by on Friday evening for an early dinner and had a delightful experience. Due to live music night and cold weather the restaurant was bustling with patrons. Our wait was about 5 minutes. Service was extraordinary particularly our waiter Jean Carlo whose attention was perfect. We also met the owner and Mrs. Tequila who were both very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared and very reasonably priced. A special touch was the strolling Mariachi band that added a touch of fun and ambiance. We went here because of the reviews. We left the food mostly untouched. The steak was low quality, chewy and tough, the margaritas were just sugared watered down drinks. Ate lunch just before noon on a Sunday. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, so fun! The kids loved looking around at all the different chairs while enjoying chips and salsa.
