Slightly overpriced for what it is quesadillas and queso with no salsa? Just hot sauce? Like, come on, salsa is the Beyoncé of Tex-Mex sides, and you're giving me just the backup dancers? That said, the blackened chicken was solid juicy, flavorful, and the one saving grace of my plate. The atmosphere? Just okay. Nothing that screams, "Stay and vibe," but it wasn't terrible either. Would I return? Probably not, unless Taco Tuesday is your religion, in which case, you might find it worth a shot. But overall? It's giving "one and done." read more

This this store sent me cold tacos with no sauce that I asked for. No spinach that I asked for...no salsa to go with the chips. Because I'm a nice person, I called the store to see if they could deliver those items to me. The general manager rambled on and on about not being able to hear me, and then accused me of yelling. He continued to do this back-and-forth with me, but no regard for the things that I did not receive or the state of the food. The conversation never got better as I begged for customer service. The general manager was definitely racist. I recently came back here 10 months ago. These people here are racist. I'm from Florida... being in Tallahassee this time for 10 months there is certainly a huge racist commun in charge. Sorry but not sorry. read more

The current Street Corn featured menu items are worth checking out. I tried 2 street corn chicken tacos and the blend of flavors was delicious. I also had the street corn on the cob and it was so fresh and very tasty. Couldn't resist a dessert order of churro bites. They are good plain or dipped in either the strawberry sauce or the chocolate sauce that come with. Using their app to order is so easy. I opted for curbside pickup (still a little gun shy of giving others covid even if I have had my shots) and the process was easy. Yeah, it did take awhile. Probably longer than usual but the manager checked on me when she brought out another curbside order and she said they were short handed. I told her I wasn't going to a fire and understood. They have the Now Hiring sign on the window that so many restaurants have these pandemic recovery days and we need to be patient. Short handed or inexperienced, nobody is going to be on their A game for awhile. Take a chill pill and don't write any nasty reviews about how long it took to get your food unless you want to cook @ home all the time. I do miss the thicker crunchy taco shells they used to have because they didn't crack and crumble like those at another place I know. We also enjoyed the fajita shrimp quesadillas, which we tried with several different sauces, just because. My husband loves heat & he said the Mofo'en insane sauce was super hot . Rarely do I feel compelled to award a fast food establishment with 4-5 stars, but based on my first experience at this location of Tijuana Flats today, they deserve a solid four. Quite possibly the best service I've ever received at a fast food restaurant. This crew makes Chick-Fil-A (the undisputed gold standard in fast food customer service) look average. From the moment I walked in the door until they picked up my empty tray, they were nothing short of spot-on. They were quick to suggest some menu items, and their favorite toppings for each. They were generous with beer pours, since they were out of their normal beer cups. Our server brought a water bowl outside to our table for our dog and took time to interact with her while pouring the water. After completing our meal, I gathered up the trays and trash and headed inside to dispose if it, when I was met at the door by another member of the staff who took it off my hands and made sure to tell me to "just leave it next time... that's why we're here". I'm not sure if this level of service is normal for all TF stores, but this one clearly has it figured out, which is not easy in this tight labor market and era of employee apathy. The store was spotlessly clean, inside and out. The atmosphere is fun and festive. Plenty of dining room seating with a TV or two to keep you entertained, and a few sidewalk tables, which is where we chose to sit. The food is very good, but tbh, it's on par with many other Mexican or Tex-Mex casual/fast food joints I've been to, including Chipotle and Felipe's. I do like their "hot sauce" bar, where you can select between a dozen or so hot sauces of varying degrees of "hot" from "sissy" to "death". My burrito bowl needed a splash of a couple different sauces to bring out the flavor. I would like to suggest they add salsa to the hot sauce bar, since most of their entrees come with some very good chips. They, of course, have an app and rewards program. Just for signing up, I see that I'm eligible for an order of the "Tijuana trio" on my next visit, and there will definitely be one! read more

I have done a review for Tijuana Flats before; this establishment is one of my favorite "go-to" places to grab a quick bite. When I walked in and mentioned the street corn entree, I was initially asked if I wanted soft or hard tacos but I asked for the bowl instead, which was my preference. And wow, the chicken bowl was delicious! It included tasty seasoned chicken, black beans, rice (garnished with garlic lime sauce - yum!) pico, lettuce, guacamole, roasted corn (so good!), and tortilla strips. Every item was so fresh tasting. This bowl is a hit for sure; had just the right amount of ingredients. As usual, the chips and salsa complimented the meal, and the sweet tea was just right (not too "sweet"). Though the chicken nachos are a favorite, I have a new favorite now and have spread the word! :o) Of note, the safety protocols in place are greatly appreciated; the staff wore masks. read more

I don't know why I haven't been in here before. It was absolutely delicious. I got the Crispy shrimp and corn tacos and they came with chips and salsa. The young woman on the front register was friendly and super quick, and the wait was pretty short. We took our food to go, but the inside is spacious and fun, lots of pictures of celebrities who have visited the chain over the years. Fun and yummy. I'll be back! read more

I love Love LOVE Tijuana Flats! The staff is always so gracious and helpful at any of the locations in Tallahassee. My favorite and most frequently patronized is the Mahan Location. You can't beat tacos, chips and a drink for 5.99 on Taco Tuesday! And don't forget burrito Thursday when there is a similar meal deal. Ingredients are *usually* fresh and delicious and the staff there definitely aims to please. I received exceptional service dining in yesterday and the tacos had that perfect crunch that I'm accustomed to (reference again to freshness). They also have a sauce bar with various indications of spice level and the strawberry lemonade here is super delicious! If you're in the mood for desert I highly recommend the cookie dough flautas! I have been here many times. I get the Norrito bowl with black and refried beans almost every time. It is always excellent. I love the chips here too- light and well seasoned. Their hot sauce bar is a unique touch. I've settled on one particular sauce - "Smack My a$$ and Call Me Sally". Creative names for all the different sauces! The decor is bright, irreverent and in your face. The ceiling tiles are also decorated. It's fun just to look up at all the weirdness. I took a star off because the music can be super loud and annoying at times making me want to leave quickly. There is the option to eat outside as well. They have good deals on different holidays including free lunch for moms on Mother's day if you sign up for their emails. Love this place! read more

I have driven past Tijuana Flats so many times over the years, never paying attention to it. I had a chance to go try their Street Corn Festival items so I was excited to give them a chance. I'm a fan of elote (street corn) so I was looking forward to it. They had tacos, quesadillas, flautas and a bowl as part of the event. I got the bowl with steak and a side corn on the cob. The bowl was good, but was pretty traditional. They did have a little corn and seasoning on it, but not enough for my liking. The star of the event for me was the corn on the cob. Dressed with garlic lime sauce, cotija cheese and a seasoning, it was really delicious! Even better, the corn itself tasted fresh and was sweet. I definitely wished I had another one of those. It came with chips that were both too salty and kind of stale. Tijuana Flats also had a bunch of hot sauces. I'm ashamed to say I didn't try any of them. That may have helped my bowl... Decent fast food Mexican here. They have specials for taco Tuesday which is cool. However they do use soybean oil here on their meat and tortillas so for soy allergies this may not be the place. Overall cool vibe with lots of hot sauces to choose from. Tijuana Flats is a great place to go with a group! You can get a bucket of beer and most of the appetizers and entrées are just made for sharing. I particularly love the variety of sauces that you can try, and, just sauce alone can completely change the way a dish tastes. I particularly like that Tijuana Flats has made a point of having plenty of tables and chairs set up outside on the sidewalk, so most days it's really comfortable to sit out there and eat. Thanks TF! Sorry to say we won't be going back. Used to be our favorite place but this location is terrible. The last few times we have been there they were out of several menu items. On top of that the food didn't comes out as ordered. We were told they would bring the missing ingredients but they never did. This is the best Mexican food in Tallahassee. Incredibly fresh: fresh-made salsa, real cheese crumbles on tacos, high quality ingredients, etc. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. How have I never had these in my 9 years in Tallahassee?!! Crunchy on the outside with a warm, soft cookie dough center AND it comes with chocolate dipping sauce. Me and my son devoured these in like two seconds. I just can't say enough about this delicious dessert. Now on to the rest. As soon as I walked in the door the ladies were right there welcoming me and asking if I needed any help with anything, which is great because this was my first time actually trying this place out. I was handed the menu and put my order in with --again-- a very nice young lady who explained more items on the menu and the hot sauce bar and even recommended a few that I try. I ordered the chips and queso, black bean enchiladas and, of course, the cookie dough flautas. My order was out in a timely manner and everything was delicious! They give you large portions, which I had leftovers for tomorrow. The sweet tea was also very good. The store was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. Great place to take the family too. The wait time is ridiculous for them to not be busy. We had trouble at the other location (which we were greatly compensated for) so we came here which was more convenient. I tried this restaurant for the first time ever yesterday (5 Dec 17). The one I chose was a new location (Village Square across from Newt's). The restaurant is small, but provides seating outside with shade umbrellas. I ordered 2 tacos (hard shell with beef) and chips and queso. The tacos were good (not the best I've had) and pretty big. The queso was bland (no kick). There is an elaborate hot sauce bar offering potency from sweet to "my butt is on fire". I am a frequent flyer at this establishment due to distance from work. At first, I did not know how to digest the overall experience. I enjoyed going to the West Pensacola location on the other side of town, but now I've changed my mind. The staff at this location not only goes above and beyond, but make sure you as a guest are valued for your buck. No matter if you are ordering take-out, quick lunch break, or causal dinner, you will feel as if the level of service exceeds your expectations. My friend Sam and I stopped in today for a quick lunch due to workload and impulse to eat something delicious. The cashier welcomed both of us to the establishment, and asked if we were ready to order. I had to think about what I wanted to eat due to the selection process. If you haven't been to Tijuana, you are missing out on some good food! It's a mixture between Tex-Mex and American food, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Sam ordered the fried chicken flautas, and Trio with Chips (guac, salsa, and queso), talk about yummy. I decided to go with the blackened chicken flautas with everything besides sour cram and jalapenos. Once you finish placing your order, the server will bring the food out to you by calling your name. You will also get the chance to checkout the hot sauce bar. Just a FYI, look at those smiley faces on top of the sauce options (Happy means more sweet, and double XX face means very hot). I made the mistake of tasting the hottest sauce at the bar, not a very good idea if you don't like spicy. Our sever brought our appetizer and entrée within the perfect amount of time from each other. However, what really made the experience was Mary. Mary made suggestions of refilling our drinks, bringing caps for our sauces, guac, queso, and salsa, and took the initiative of care of us. WHAT?!?! I have been eating at Tijuana Flats since they opened and it was very good until a few years ago. The food is now of poor quality and tasteless. The blackened chicken used to be a quality tasty item, but it is now a poor quality meat, which is tough and tasteless. The brown rice which used to be good was changed to a tasteless overly wet white rice. I have eaten at several Tijuana Flats around Florida and the recipes changes seem to be corporate wide. I wish I could leave a higher rating since I have not had an issue with this location the times that I have dined in, but tonight my boyfriend and I ordered delivery through Doorstep Delivery and were disappointed with the service. Tijuana Flats' customer service is usually very good so we were surprised when our order was delivered without any of the hot sauces that we requested using TWO methods of communication. First, I called the restaurant to ask what the best way would be to request specific sauces with our delivery order, since it was going to be fulfilled by Doorstep, and I was asked the order name, what sauces, and what quantities. I was assured it would be added to the order before it left the restaurant. Second, my boyfriend wrote out the sauces and quantities in the "Special Instructions" section on the Doorstep website, just in case. The order was delivered without the sauces and no mention of the request was included on the receipt. This was disappointing considering their hot sauce bar is usually the only reason we go to Tijuana Flats instead of making quesadillas or tacos at home. Without the sauces, we may as well have made the food at home and saved ourselves the delivery time and the money. TLDR; Don't bother ordering delivery if you want any hot sauce. read more

We did a taco platter delivery order that started out terrible and ended up one of the best customer service experiences we ever had thanks to their manager Destiny. They use a third party to deliver (either Door Dash or Uber Eats) and it turns out the driver popped in and only grabbed half the order, leaving the taco shells sitting there. We got a call from a TF employee telling us the driver left the tacos and they were very sorry and would write our name down so they could give us a discount or something in the future. We were not sure how to eat a taco without a shell so we called back asking for someone to bring the shells. The person who answered could have cared less, but when we got to speak to the manager, Destiny, she immediately recognized the problem and moved heaven and earth to fix it. She had one of her employees drive the shells out with a gift card equal to the price of our meal. She also included lots of extras as well as kind notes everywhere apologizing. We were sadly about to say goodbye to TF forever, even though the food is great, but Destiny saved it for us and we will definitely be going back. Someone give her a raise please. Ate for the 1st and last time there just awhile ago with family. I ordered a "Megajuana" flour tortilla burrito with double beef & double cheese, with refried beans and rice, guacamole, and tomatoes and onions. What I received was a burrito with no beans or rice, no guacamole, and it had lettuce on it. I have never heard of a burrito with lettuce. It was also served barely warm. We asked for a side of salsa to go with the chips but it never arrived. The chips were cold also. We were one of about two other tables with customers. Also, I went up to the counter to get a take out container for my spouse - saw a huge mess on the floor of the kitchen area that looked like it had been there for awhile with no effort to clean it up. Great staff and great food! My son and I came in for lunch, when I finished placing my order I realized my wallet was not in my purse. Not only did they play and talk with my son while I fruitlessly searched my car. But they told us to stay and enjoy lunch on them. Incredible!!!! We will be loyal customers forever. Well, I expressed my outrage when they charged me for the taco, but apparently, that wasn't outrageous enough, as they insisted on charging me. Don't send me emails offering a free taco only to charge me when I come in.
