Thank you! My washing machine failed and I found Tikal Appliance repair service here in Yelp. I called right when they opened. The owner answered my call, took some detail and gave me a time he would come to my house to do the repairs. He was here in less that 30 minutes looked the washer over and told me that this old washer was a good model and that "they don't make them like this today". I had found a small piece of plastic at the foot of washer which I had set aside in case it meant anything to him. It did, and he replaced a switch and all was good. He said that he always kept these switches on hand as there were so many of this model still in service. Anyway, the repair took 10 minutes reasonable price and out the door. Wow! Can't ask for more than that. And, I didn't have to replace the washer! I highly recommend this company. read more

We were having a big problem with our freezer, which was failing to keep our food frozen and chattering like a chipmunk caught in a trap. The first appliance/repair company in town that we called said they couldn't get out to take a look at our refrigerator/freezer for 13 days, so we called Tikal Appliance Repair. Angel Sandoval of Tikal Appliance Repair stopped by the morning after we called him about our chattering refrigerator/freezer that wouldn't stay cold. Angel quickly determined that the chattering sound our 13 year old refrigerator/freezer was making was the compressor starter solenoid, which was not fully engaging. Angel removed the original, went to his truck for a new starter solenoid and installed it. Angel took 30 minutes from start to finish and he didn't charge us for the part or the service call, just to be sure the starter solenoid was the only issue. After Angel left, the freezer chilled down quickly with the new starter solenoid, achieving and maintaining the freezer temperature we set. We have heard no chattering over the Memorial Day weekend and the refrigerator/freezer is working perfectly now. We called Angel back this morning to let him know that the compressor starter solenoid appeared to be the only problem and he said we could mail him the check or he could stop by to pick up the check. Tikal Appliance Repair has the quickest service in Lompoc...next day service and for us, he was in and out in 30 minutes. So, we had this amazing experience and I thought I'd share it with you. Our washer died last week, well, we thought it had anyway. So we researched repair guys and found that Tikal Appliance Repair had the best reviews. So we called them. Angel answered and after listening to our story, he listed a couple of things it could be and said "Honestly, I'll charge $30 to come by. You may want to check those things out first." Louis was blown away. This guy was offering free advice as opposed to charging us for what could be a simple problem! Well, we don't know the inside of a washer from the inside of a gnat so Louis asked him to come by anyway. He liked the guy right off for being honest and he felt comfortable with him coming over. Being schizophrenic, it's HUGE for Louis to try to trust someone new like that. Anyone who knows him understands just how big that is. So, Angel shows up and is just the nicest guy ever. He looks into it and discovers that the safety switch was broken. He also found that there is a slow leak over the transmission. He said that while he can fix the switch, it will cost $92 and even so, the transmission will die eventually anyway due to the leak. We'd be lucky to get another year out of it. He did some tests, explained the noises it made and our options. Well, we need our washer, so we went with fixing the switch and hoping that we get another year out of it. I wrote Angel a check for $80, as he was so nice as to drop the price a bit, and had to leave for work. That was Thursday. On Saturday, the washer really did die. The transmission we had hoped would last another year did not have the same plan. So, we called Angel. He offered to send our check back if we could return the part and just pay the service fee of $30!!! Are you serious? This man really IS an angel!!! Not only that, but he offered to help us find a new washer for a seriously discounted price! We now have a brand new washer and it cost less than half of what it should thanks to the efforts of Angel at Tikal Appliance Repair. For as long as he is in business, I will never go anywhere else. Seriously my friends. Look this guy up if you ever have any problems with your washer, heater, stove, you name it! If it is an appliance, he can help and save you money doing it too!!! read more

Our Kenmore washer died after the tub filled up with a load of clothes. Wouldn't do anything. It's probably 15 years old. Based on Yelp reviews I called TIKAL the next day. Angel stopped by that morning and diagnosed the problem within 90 seconds, had the part in his truck, and the washer was working 20 minutes later. Very glad I called Tikal Appliance repair. My dishwasher wasn't working and despite me and my wife's best efforts we couldn't figure it out. He showed up on time, ready to work. In about 15 minutes he diagnosed the problem as a bum motor and said he might have a used one he could use rather than purchasing an expensive new one. Indeed he had one and gave us a very reasonable quote and came back to replace the motor. Upon closer inspection he noticed there were pieces of something stuck in the motor. He removed the items and the dishwasher worked like a champ. He then cut the fee down by half. He could have easily just replaced the motor and charged the full amount but he went the honest route. I would give no hesitation recommending Tikal to anyone who needs an appliance repaired. He was fast, friendly, courteous, honest, and fair. I wish there were more guys like him out there! read more

We used Tikal once before and we were happy with the quick response and service. Now, our guest at our vacation home was having more problems with the same washer. He ran it through one time, told me he could find nothing wrong with it, billed me and left. Our guest continued to have the same problem but this time called me on the weekend. Since Tikal was not available I swapped my washer with the failing one, a 7 hour drive for us. In the process, we found a large amount of rubber dust on the floor under the washer. Lastnight at 9pm our stove top gas range started clicking on it's own. Then started flaming & sparking! It was frightful. Fire Dept came out and said we did the right thing turning off gas & unplugging outlet.Thankfully a great friend gave my Tikals info. Angel (owner/technician) arrived on time for a next day appointment, was friendly and professional. He checked out our dishwasher for standing water and explained the difference between dishwasher models and that this was a normal occurence for ours. He also explained what would be out of the ordinary to call a repair man for and how to do our own maintenance on the dishwasher. Since there wasn't anything wrong with the dishwasher the checkout was free of charge. He then checked out our dryer due to a rubbing noise while drying. It turns out a dryer sheet had got sucked past the lint trap and into the blower. He had the machine apart and cleaned up in less than 20 minutes, all the while showing me how he did it and answering all of my questions. He also showed me how to maintenance the dryer and washing machine on my own. He only charged me for the dryer repair after spending about an hour at the house.
