My dryer was toying with me... making my clothes smell like a camp fire and finally dying today. I looked online to find a new dryer and woa.. when did they get so expensive. So I was looking on Facebook and Craigslist to see if anyone had a used one for sale. Then I said.. how in the world am I going to get this thing here and am I going to be able to hook this thing up? And what about the old one?? agghhh!!! So I was looking on Facebook and Richard's ad on the market came up. I chatted with him and he was very nice, very knowledgeable... and very happy to deliver this wonderful used dryer on New Year's Day for a small fee. He also said he would hook it up AND take my old one. I could not pass up this deal.. When he got here he was super professional. Super nice.Put everything together and then gave me some dryer knowledge. It came with a 90 day warranty. I'm sorry Richard.. the knowledge you gave me probably left my brain as soon as you left.... I waited to post this after I used it.. which I started doing laundry as soon as he left... the dryer works amazing *tear*. I'm a happy happy girl. A technician from Richard's Appliance came to my home to process a claim I had with Frigidaire for a glass cooktop that cracked due to thermal heating within the one-year warranty time frame. The technician came in and barely glanced at the range and said "Frigidaire is going to deny this claim." He then went on to examine the range, saying that he didn't think that it was a thermal crack and that there must have been something dropped on it. Nothing was ever dropped on this range. Come to find out, Frigidaire has had multiple claims of the same exact issue that I had going back to 2013. I told the technician nothing had ever fell on the range. After doing some research I discovered that many people have had the same issue I have had in the same exact manner and the claims were all denied, with the same reasoning I called Richard's Appliance to let the receptionist know that, not only was the technician extremely rude, but right off the bat he decided that most likely Frigidaire will not cover the claim. She then informed me that because this is considered a cosmetic issue, even though I cannot use my range at all due to electrical safety issues, that they do not get reimbursed for "cosmetic issues" for up to six months from Frigidaire. So of course it behooves Richard's Appliance to walk in and say, "Oh no, this is an impact crack, we are not going to fix this," because that's money out of their pocket that they don't see for 6 more months. Frigidaire informed me that Richard's Appliance had told them it was an impact crack, in his opinion. There is no point of impact on my range and not only will Frigidaire not stand behind their products but Richard's Appliance is facilitating them in not standing behind their products and perpetuating lies based on their bottom line. Needless to say, I will no longer be using Richard's Appliance whatsoever and I will make sure that any product I buy in the future is not using them as their warranty service technician company. read more

My husband bought a side by side fridge and he said that it had a 30 day warranty and we got home and a day later the bottom of the fridge and freezer were freezing and the tops were 60° called, left messages 4 times, never got a response!!! Hello my name is isaiah, I am writing this review on richards appliance for the unsatisfactory customer service. About a month ago, richard came to my house to service my samsung refrigerator, which is leaking in the bottom inside. I purchased a genuine Samsung water filter because samsung requested it instead of the non genuine filter I had. Richard came out and installed my new filter and said looks good and left. With the water inlet turned on in back of fridge, the leak takes a while and I told him that. We'll I left 3 email's and 2 voice-mail which Richard told my wife and I that his wife gets the messages. But anyway I Recieved no responses to those messages. My wife called his shop a couple of days ago and and got another appointment for today at 10am which he totally no showed for. My wife called and put on speaker so I could her since I did take off work to be home for this appointment, but Richard was very non chalant as he stated yep its right here on my clipboard but stated that he had already left lompoc for the day. I totally dislike the disregard that is felt and unprofessionalism. Samsung has been notified as of today of this. read more

Service person came out today to look at my Samsung dryer because the drum hadn't been turning all the time. This occurred two times before I called in for the warranty repair. At the time he arrived, it was working properly. He started and stopped it and said it was working fine and left. He didnt make any further inspection on it. Later that same day, I start the dryer and it fails to work. Totally disappointed in this service. You'd think he'd at least have looked into what could have been causing it to not work. Now that it's done it again, I have to call on the warranty again. Hope they send someone better. read more

Richard helped me and my husband out so much our LG washer was broken the hose had openings in it and it was gushing out water We spoke with Richard and gave him some info as to what kind of washer we have and what part was not working and he came over honestly almost right away and fixed it so quickly ! Richard's came out to repair our refrigerator in May of 2018. Despite many efforts to repair it, it couldn't be fixed and Richard was very thorough in his explanation for why it couldn't be fixed, which I appreciated. We ended up buying a used one from him, which they delivered and installed and hauled away our old one. The used one we purchased from them began leaking water almost immediately and the installer couldn't figure out why. Richard returned the next day to make the required repair. A year later, May 2019, the refrigerator stopped working and the freezer side was alternately freezing and melting the contents. I called and left a voicemail and was able to reach someone at 11:30am. She let me know they were very busy due to Richard being out on medical leave and would try to see if she could get someone out to me that day. She was able to schedule someone noon-3pm. When the guys got to my house, they genuinely seemed annoyed at being there. Which, is fine I guess as long as they're willing to do the repairs. Unfortunately, it did not seem to be the case. One of the guys told me they would have to return the next day because something on the "board" needed to be soldered and the shop was "all the way in Santa Maria" and it was already the end of the day. As it was only 2:30pm, I asked him if he knew the shop hours and he said he would have to drive there to find out and again, "it's all the way in Santa Maria." I asked where in Santa Maria, I live in Orcutt and he said "by JCPenney." I asked him if we could call the place to see if they were open and asked him for the name of the business. He then said, "Well, I can take this (the board) there and solder it and come back tomorrow morning or I can see you a new board but that's $200." It's entirely possible that I misread his body language and tone but it felt to me like he did not want to help me or finish the work that day. I got frustrated and said all the food in my refrigerator would go bad by tomorrow and I had bought the refrigerator less than a year ago from them and asked if they have a warranty on their appliances and he said "90 days." So, he maybe doesn't want to help frustrated customers? In any case, the business where he can solder "the board" was indeed open until 6pm and he was able to do that and returned very quickly. He then charged me $120 but did not give me any kind of estimate or written description of the break down of the charges so, not sure what the individual fees were for the service. I know this though, the refrigerator doesn't work. It is doing the exact same thing it did before he can out 6 days ago. Guess who I won't be calling? read more

Richard's tech came out to diagnose a problem with our refrigerator that stopped working. I had to keep asking him questions about the refrigerator and what was going to happen in order to get it fixed because he was not communicating what the problem was. He shows up with parts and gets the refrigerator and ice maker going on Friday. My husband said he kept referring to a manual during the repair... We go to the grocery store Friday night, put things away and Saturday morning the refrigerator is warm again. Now we are starting the repair process all over again with more spoiled food. I wish i could give 0 stars. Richard came out to repair my ice maker in my samsung refrigerator. He came and looked at it, said he will have to order the part and will call to set up a time to come out. A week or so later he shows up without calling during the worst time of the day. Me wanting to get it fixed let him do it. I wasn't prepared so i had to do some shuffling of items to make room, he was very upset he had to wait for this to happen. He was rude and didn't like to communicate about anything. He didn't have any paperwork for my to keep for my records and he left a mess inside and outside of the fridge. I will never ever recommend doing service with him. Very unpleasant, dirty and pretty much hates his job and the quality of work shows. read more

Family business, which is always nice to see nowadays. I had an issue with my oven and ice maker. A service call diagnosed both, and the oven was fixed on the spot. The ice maker required a part to be ordered. Repairs were made quickly and efficiently, and Richard was courteous and friendly. Woke up to a loud motor running noise. Our refrigerator sounded like my truck engine. I called Richards Appliance Repair and spoke to Richard. I described what was happening and he was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. He said that he could come be later in the day to repair it. When he showed up to our house, he had all the Personal Protection Equipment on for the COVID precautionary measures. As he began the functional test of the refrigerator it was determined that the sensor was bad, just as he said it would be on the phone prior to coming over. He also noticed that the cover was frozen to the brackets from the back and could not be removed without damaging it. He said that it would be best to let it thaw out and then it could be removed without any damage. Now, that could have easily been another way for him to make some extra money on the job if he wasn't an honest man. I would not have known any difference if he told me I needed a new cover as well. I would've paid it because the refrigerator was full off food. When I got the bill, it was super reasonable in price, it was significantly less than I thought it would've been. We've used Richard's services a few years back and he was just as honest and preformed quality work the same then and now. If you need someone who's honest and preforms quality appliance repair work, Richard's Appliance Repair is the place for you. Thank you Richard for getting us back and operational. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews but I'm leaving this one so the next person isn't expecting good communication from Richards. My review is not on the quality or actual repair service as I did not have the opportunity to experience this, my issue is they did not show up at my home as scheduled nor communicate any delay to me. Richards Appliance Service was recommended by a competitor who was busy and unable to get to my home for a week. I called in the afternoon, got the answering machine and left a message. When I didn't hear back by 10 am the next morning (which should have been a clue) I called again. They answered and put me on the schedule for the next business day, within a 2 hour time frame. The day comes, and at the end of the 2 hour period I had not heard a peep from them, gave it another 10 minutes and called the office. Was told the technician was running behind and it should be about an hour longer. Another 2 hours come and go with no contact from them, so I call the office again. I got an answering machine and left a message, politely letting them know the situation. At this point I decided to call around and was able to book an appointment for the next day with someone else. I did use common courtesy, which they are lacking, and called back (got the machine again), to cancel. All I would have needed was a couple of phone calls letting me know what was going on and it would have been fine. Very unprofessional company. read more

They are excellent!! Our nearly new refrigerator quit cooling two days before Christmas. We struggled through the holiday and on the 26th, I called first thing and left a message. They returned the call and asked about our issue. When he heard it was the refrigerator, he said he could come right over and take a look. He found the problem, explained it thoroughly and since he had the parts, could do it immediately. We have used them in the past for a problem with a washer and had the same impression - honest and fair prices. Hopefully, you won't have problems but when you do, you should put them on the top of your list to call. They will be my first call in the future!! read more

I had an appointment scheduled for sometime between 9-12, then when nobody showed up during that time I called to see what the deal was. I was told he was on his way and should be there shortly. By the end of the day, still a no-show. I called the next day to see what had happened, and the guy had the nerve to tell me "oh, I stopped by and no one was home", which was a complete lie since I never left the house that day! My washer broke today and a lady scheduled me for a 1-3 pm appointment tomorrow. I do question the one star review, but I will hold anything to say until after Richard's visit tomorrow. This is Tuesday and yesterday I said that I had an appointment with Richard between 1-3 pm, well, he called me at 12:30 pm confirming that he was on the way and at 12:55 pm he arrived. He took the back off and said that it is just a loose connection. He fixed it in 10 minutes. And all he wanted to charge me was just the minimum, but I felt that it's not how fast he repaired it but the value of his visit so I paid him a little more just to show him that I really appreciated an honest repairman. Richard is the very best. We came home from three days at Christmas to a floor full of water in front of the refrigerator. I called in the afternoon and got Richard. He was swamped and didn't know if he could get to me for days, but he would try. He called after 5:00 PM, came over and worked for an hour. He took it upon himself to clean the entire inside of our washing machine and educated me on some preventative maintenance. My Samsung dryer was making an awful noise so I went through the Byzantine process of filing a claim through my Home Depot service warranty. That process made me want to throw my phone. After more than 30 minutes on the phone, they finally set me up with Richard's. My appointment was set for 8-4 which meant I was going to have to take hours off of work to make the appointment. I called Richard the day before my scheduled repair to see if I could narrow down the time window. After explaining to him what was happening he said he would hop in his van and be right over if I had time right then. He was there within 20 minutes and had the issue fixed in less than that amount of time. I would call Richard anytime I had another appliance issue. read more

Let's see...do I have a charachter limit here?......What can I say...I cannot even tell you how long I have been using Richard's appliance repair, but because I cannot remember it has to be a LONG time!!!!! I LOVE Richard's appliance!!!!....they are VERY proficient, effient, and fair, as far as cost...:)...I run a daycare in my home, and cannot do without any of my appliances, and I can say that Richard has fixed almost each one of them by now. It is a family run business, which is AWESOME!!!!...don't find too many of those around any more, and I feel that these are the best kinds of people to work with. He just recently fixed my oven control panel which was....discontinued as far as new one was concerned...of course...:(....Richard took it to get it soldered...good as new, and saved me TONS of money. I thought I was in for a new oven...NOPE...leave it to Richard to get it fixed!!!!...So $100..instead of $1700!!!!...YEAH!!!...He is trustworthy, loyal, and just a plain good, nice guy. Richard and his son did an amazing job of of installing a new Unitized , (stackable) Whirlpool Washer/Dryer for us . The area where the builder had installed the old unit is Very cramped and extremely difficult to remove the old unit and install the new unit. We needed the new unit before the holidays and they worked on the weekend to get everything set up before our guests arrived.Even though they had to work in very cramped quarters, they took care not to damage the unit or the house. They are great with product knowledge and performance and spent time instructing us on the operation and care of the new W/D. I highly recommend Richard for all of your appliance needs! If I could give zero stars I would. We purchased a washer and dryer and installation from Best Buy. The total cost was approx.$2000. Because we both work we had the delivery/installation scheduled for Saturday. I received a phone call from Richards Appliances saying they do not normally install on weekends and we would have to reschedule. Please tell me when a working couple is supposed to reschedule an installation during the week? Should we be forced to take a day off for this? I told the owner that I have no idea how the scheduling is done as I am the customer and that she would need to discuss this with Best Buy and fix it with them. After paying $2000 for items, I think that the customer should not be the one jumping hoops to fix the problems started by 2 retailers. On Friday I rteceived a phone call from Best Buy telling me they would deliver the items on Saturday between 10-12 in the morning. I also received a voice mail from Richards Appliances saying theu would be there to install the dryer between 12-3PM. Okay, good enough. I appreciated the fact that the owner was coming out from Santa Maria on a Saturday to do the installation and was prepared to call her and let her know that we were thank ful for accommodating us. Unfortunately, at 12PM I received a phone call from someone from Richards Appliances, yelling and being very aggressive on the phone. This person would not give his name, told me I wasn't about to talk to him in any way, and gave me a window time frame of "later today" for our dryer installation. This person actually told me that I made such a huge fuss at Best Buy that I am lucky to get their service at all. Sooooooo..........long story short, we cancelled the complete order with Best Buy and will purchase our appliances from anywhere else that does not subcontract out to this horribly unprofessional appliance store. I felt completely unsafe with this individual coming to our house after the demeaning and aggressive way he spoke to me on the phone. Terrible service. I had made an appointment for someone to come look at my washing machine and was told they would arrive between 9 an 12. At 1230 there was no repairman. There was no phone call or any type of communication as to why the repairman was late. I called and left a message and no one called back. After calling several more times I finally got a hold of someone who said yes we had an appointment and they would call to find out why no one showed. Still have not heard back as to why no repairman showed up. These people obviously do not care about customer service or about the business they run. These guys were great! The delivered and installed the LG washer, mini pedestal washer and dryer we ordered from Best Buy. They arrived as scheduled and called ahead to let us know they were on their way. The install took a couple of hours, but we didn't care since it was done right. They tested all 3 machines, cleaned up, and took the time to run through the basic instructions with us. Very professional. They reviewed the machine paperwork (instructions, quick start procedures, etc.) with us. We were glad to hear they are authorized LG technicians. We wouldn't hesitate to call them in the future.
