I had a very upsetting experience witnessing an interaction between a Home Depot employee named Daren and an elderly customer. I wasn't the person being helped, but what I saw was difficult to watch. The elderly man politely approached Daren, who was standing alone at the cashier's desk, and asked for help finding an item for his kitchen. Daren immediately snapped, "I'm busy right now." The man apologized and said he would wait. When Daren was finally ready to speak with him, the customer began explaining what he needed. Before he could finish, Daren interrupted him and loudly said, "That makes no sense." Daren then said he would get someone else to help, but the customer appeared to be hard of hearing and didn't catch what he had said. A short time later, another Home Depot employee approached. Daren began raising his voice at the elderly man, saying, "Why did you go get someone else? Didn't you hear me say I would get someone for you?" The man apologized again and explained that he had misunderstood. Instead of showing patience or compassion, Daren continued speaking aggressively, making comments like, "Nothing gets past me," and, "The road ends here." The customer stayed quiet, apologized repeatedly, and simply waited. By the time I left, he had been waiting for at least 20 minutes and still had not received any help. It was genuinely difficult to watch. I wanted to step in and defend the elderly man, but Daren's aggressive behavior made me feel like I would be treated the same way. Daren may be a manager, but regardless of his position, this behavior was unacceptable. No customer--especially an elderly person who was polite, patient, and simply asking for assistance--should be spoken to this way. I sincerely hope a supervisor reviews this incident and addresses it appropriately, because this level of disrespect has no place in customer service. read more

I used to shop here a lot, but no more. I recently had a leak in a 125 gallon water tank in back of truck, bad valve, which I bought a fix for at the store. I simply needed to fill the tank back up rather than driving 10 miles back to the shop. Less than $1 worth of hose water. I asked if they'd let me fill my tank. I offered to pay twice the cost. I asked them for any price at all. I asked for half a tank. 3 levels of supervisors had to chime in. While that was going on they were watering down the sidewalk outside the garden area with the same water I was hoping to get from them. Nope. 20 mile round trip to get $0.45 of water. If I treated people that way at the golf course I'd lose customers. Just like Home Depot Lompoc has now lost our business. read more

I declined the option to have the Traeger assembled as I knew it wouldn't fit in my vehicle however it would fit in the box. 8 grills were listed in stock and I was brought out an assembled one which didn't fit in my vehicle. Well, once again I learned service is NOT a priority at the Lompoc store. Looking for a jig saw. Employee a few feet away appeared to be taking inventory. Finally found the saw I was searching for so I caught the employee's eye and started to ask for help to unlock the metal screen so I could grab the box I need. He turned away. I stood there for a good five minutes hoping he would ask me if I needed help. Nope. As I'm walking away from that section another two employees seemingly involved in a b*tch session. Fairly loudly one girl says " it's not my f*cking fault". Then repeats it as we make eye contact while I'm walking by. Then a lady with white braided hair walks by me and says "yeah, it is." Workers here hate their lives and job!!!!!! I love Home depot but the customer service here is horrible. Possibly the worst order experience ever. Ordered shower walls in June. Expected date came, called store. That's when I was informed that they were discontinued and had never been ordered even though I paid for them. I ordered new ones. New expected delivery date is now two weeks overdue and the store tells me they probably arrived on Friday but nobody checks it until Monday. It's mid day Monday and they tell me maybe Tuesday, because actually they won't check until Monday night. I've waited over three months for shower walls that I paid for. What's worse is that I always have to be the one to reach out and point out that something isn't right. They didn't even notice when my original order had been discontinued and not ordered. Worst home depot/big box store i've ever dealt with. Bought a counter with an estimate of 4 weeks. 4 weeks into it they couldn't find the material. 2 weeks later they found the material but had to ship it in.. 2 weeks after that they gave me an appointment for install. never showed, didn't answer my calls or emails. I actually pulled my phone records to see how many times I had to call them - I called 73 times over the course of 2 weeks to get my next appointment. 2 weeks later I get another appointment, no show again but they called and said they were "still working on it". At 12 weeks I called corporate for resolution. Corporate initiated a three way call with the manager. The manager ("Howard") cursed us out and hung up on us. They offered a discount if I purchased another counter with them!? I received a full refund later the same day, but now i'm stuck with no counter. Terrible customer service, takes no responsibility for their actions and blames their subcontractors/suppliers. Will never go to any home depot ever again. "andrea" in the customer resolution department lied several times, was rude and very unprofessional. "Monica" seemed like she cared but was too busy to actually get anything done. walking through the store, it looks terrible. I've bought tools that were obviously returned items. Their stock is terrible. Their isles have debri and trash all over. How is this place still open? The santa maria home depot is totally different. Our licensed contractor recently purchased our new Rheem water heater from the Lompoc Home Depot. After only a couple weeks the gas company had to come out for an emergency call on a Sunday because it was a defective unit and leaking gas. Home Depot was non-responsive in trying to solve the situation and their store manager, Bruce, was rude and offensive. This is not the first time we have had a terrible experience with an appliance from Home Depot. They do not stand behind the products they sell. We were told by the gas company that this water heater was extremely dangerous and could have exploded in a ball of fire. One of our bedrooms is on the other side of the wall where it was positioned. When we told this to Home Depot, Bruce said "He didn't care." We would advise anyone reading this review to not purchase any appliances from Home Depot. I'm only giving two stars because I love the store but the delivery system sucks. My husband and I stayed up until 10:30pm waiting on Home Depot to deliver a washer and dryer we'd been waiting on for two weeks. The next morning I called and was told they tried to deliver at 5:11pm (which was a lie because we were home ALL DAY) and then I was given the runaround. I then just asked for a refund considering they couldn't "accommodate" delivery after 5pm (funny how they said they tried to deliver at 5:11pm and now they can't do that). I definitely do NOT recommend having anything delivered by them. We will definitely go with another company who actually cares about their customers more. read more

Things were easy to find, it wasn't crazy busy (we went on a Saturday afternoon!), there was no line at the cashier and everyone was friendly. This Depot needs to inspect their plants before allowing them to go home with anyone. Twice in the last week, my friend made the mistake of buying plants without me there to inspect them and I found fungus and scale on both of them. I peddled plants for a paycheck for four years and used to take care of five acres and know it doesn't take too long to inspect your stock. Rented a floor maintainer for a week got it to work and the handle didn't work, called home diet asked if there was some kind of trick to it he said no we tried again and it still didn't work. All of the employees that I've ever encountered at the Home Depot are extremely kind and very polite. Today, I needed N95 masks due to the quality of air related to the fire. When I called and spoke Laura she advised me that CERT was present, but I could purchase some if I wanted. Which I did. When she could hear that I wasn't feeling to well (this fire has messed up my sinuses and my throat) she graciously left the N95 masks at the front desk so I wouldn't have to walk around. * This is a public (Yelp) correction and apology to this review. Since posting, I found out why Home Depot's contracting company would not install. The type of old plumbing valve present in the home, can cause major wall leaks. Which did happen later and has become a terrible inconvenience, fiasco and mess. I publicly apologize for this bad review. Although they were not specific as to why they would not install washer, I now understand why, once they laid eyes on my plumbing. "Unable to accommodate my needs. Mis-communication during online check-out, delivery, install. The order appeared that I had bought installation. When Contracted Delivery service arrived they could not install due to wrong shut-off valve? Previous washers were working in same spot. Delivery service was not helpful only name I see is Trujillo. No company name on receipt. Unable to explain details as to why. They also had no idea of price to add-on for parts & install. I didn't know if it would be $30 or $100. So I didn't sign for extra charge. Made me sign delivery document because they were in a hurry for next job. Finally got hold of a human for both companies by then they said since I already signed, I'm out of luck to have them come back to install. Very unhappy with Lompoc Home Depot and their contracted delivery service. I will not be back to give them business and I'm considering returning my washer for full refund of $500." read more

DO NOT order windows or doors from this Home Depot. The employee who assisted me was unknowable and did not know the difference between replacement windows and new construction windows. She admitted she was new. Therefore, I showed her the difference, but this still made me really nervous. I asked 5 times during my order to make sure I was was getting replacement windows. Each time she replied, "Oh yes, these are replacement windows." When my windows arrived, and to my horror, the employee had ordered new construction windows instead of the replacement windows I had specified. When I brought the issue to the attention of customer service and then to the store manager, they placed blame on me -- stating that I had signed the order and should have read the small print. After nearly two weeks and four visits to customer service, they offered to refund 25% of the purchase price. This is unacceptable because I cannot use the windows. My experience has been a nightmare and still unresolved. Unfortunately, I ordered two additional windows before the first two I ordered arrived. Similar to the first windows, the order arrived with a major problem. To achieve the windows I was seeking, the employees (two working together this time) ordered two windows joined together. To accomplish this, Simonton Windows (horrible company) joined them together with metal plates and screws on each side. Although the windows were the correct size, the addition of the metal plates and screws made them too wide to fit into the replacement openings. Avoid a disaster. Stay away from the window and door department and avoid this store altogether if at all possible. Otherwise, you may be out $2,000.00 and minus your products like me. read more

Why have employees that don't care about the customer or the product? Most of the employees weren't doing anything at the time I asked for help. The one loser in the paint department that I asked if he knew anyone that can help with plumbing, he rudely replied,"I'm only in paint" nice answer ha? Sorry to say, but I would've fired him right on the spot if I ran this store. Look at the way it's run. Kinda proves the point. 6 people & none could help? Wow. Don't expect to find help from any associates because they are rarely seen and when they are, they are not knowledgeable about much of anything. This has been an issue since before Covid. Short staff, no help for customers and young kids working the front with attitudes. I get in and get out. Just today I needed help in lumber and walked to the front to ask for assistance. "OH, ill call someone they will be right with you." I proceeded to wait 15 min and even though 6 employees saw me standing waiting for help, all didn't know how to cut wood and proceeded to keep walking. So I called the Home Depot and spoke with some one again about some help in lumber, "we are short staff today and there's no one in lumber but let me call my manager" *CLICK* I then proceeded to wait another 10 min for this Manager but yet again.... no one came. He enthusiastically answered all of our questions and advised us of the differences between the various products we were comparing, offered suggestions to make our remodel easier, and went above and beyond to look for a specific product that we needed to complete our order. Over all the store is nice, clean, and most of the people are friendly. I am a contractor so I am at a home depot at least every other day if not multiple times a day depending on the project. At every other home depot they have a pro rewards program that at different spending levels you get a 2-3.5% discount. Fresno, madera, vislaia, tulare, san jose, oakland, Sacramento, modesto, merced, San Diego, Los Angeles, all theses home depots honor this program. The lompoc home depot has no clue what it is. In fact there is no option to type your number in on the keypad. When I went to the pro desk they had no idea. Talked to the manager no idea. The manager offered a one time discount but could not honor what every other home depot does in California. Bought items and left. So next time I'm going to purchase items my customer is with me. Because they have 5 % discount instead of going to Lowe's and using her home depot credit card. WHAT?!?!?!? Lowe's is over an hour drive away, but they won't give me my rewards discount because I am a loyal home depot customer. If there was another hardware store in the area I would purchase all my items from there. read more

Only came here less than 5 times. The employees that I've encountered (mainly in the storage, flooring, paint area) were rude and obnoxious. One dude that I think works mainly in that flooring/storage corner is rude and was just yelling across the aisles (it was closer to closing time when we were there). Great store, service however...they might need to consider new management because the employees were seriously unhelpful. I asked a blond haired employ who was working at the entrance on Labor Day if they had any "rubber plants." She got really upset with me and said she'd never even heard of rubber plants. Okay...I told her that I could not remember if a Ficus was a rubber tree. But nevermind, I walked away and used my iPod on the wifi and googled ficus. Here is what I found on wikipedia - "Ficus elastica, also called the rubber fig, rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant, or Indian rubber bush is a species of plant in the fig genus, native to northeast India and southern Indonesia." Ficus was showcased as a special in two locations in the store. I walked back and told her that I had found the plant I was looking for and that ficus in a rubber plant. She adamantly expressed how she had NEVER heard anyone call a ficus a rubber plant. I told her, I don't know, all I know is that they clean the air. I wouldn't have bought these plants if they had only had her and no wifi. She is wasting the companies money and management dearly needs to be changed around, how could they let this happen? Long story short, I'm so thankful this store is in Lompoc. Where else would I go? A-OK, but come on, look at this horrible service. They should get rid of their employees who only confuse and badger customers and lower prices! They have some helpful people, but the contempt some employees have for customers is way too obvious. read more
