Man I hate to do this but something has changed at Tiki. My wife and i have visited many many times and enjoyed the Tiki Hut tremendously. However our last two visits were not good. Last week we had drinks and I ordered a Margarita less OJ like I always do. It was straight sour mix on ice. Verified by 2 people at the table. I told the server that I think they forgot the tequila. She came back with the same drink and said the bar said "its because I skipped the OJ" ?? Well that would make it taste like sour and OJ wouldnt it? It still wouldnt taste like Tequila because there was none in it. Tje poor server agreed with me and apologized. She also said management will not let them freepour anymore and they are mandated to use jiggers. She said there had been several complaints about drink quality. I left the full drink , minus 3 tastings , on the table. Not only didnt they remake it, they charged me for it. Fast forward a week and we had friends visiting so we took the to the tiki to eat lunch. Everyone had mahi , 2 fried, one blackened. The blackened dish was cut up like french fries and drier than dirt. No one ate it. The fried plates were terribly fishy. I eat fresh mahi routinely and this wasnt fresh by any means. We ordered our food, waited an hour and half. Finally told our waitress, she said the kitchen was very busy. I said that we were checking out, paying for our drinks. She said let me see if your order is up. She brought it to us. It was cold. I ordered mussels. Eight did not open, meaning they were dead. I am 77 Years old. Worst restaurant experience of my life. We were a party of six. All agreed this was the last time for this restaurant. I wish there was a way to rate it zero. Then, we got the check, I was charged for two beers I did't order. This was one of several stops on my bar hopping afternoon in Sabastian. Parking is limited, with a few spots in the front, to include designated motorcycle parking, and about a dozen spots on the side in a private lot. We were able to get the last space, and fortunately we had my Prius because it was a little tight. The bar was entirely outdoors, and on the inlet. There was a lot of seating and open space to move about. They had regular and high-top tables with umbrellas, bar seating, benches and Adirondack Chairs around a really nice firepit. As we walked through and made our way to the bar, we immediately noticed that everyone was appeared to be 60+, except for the staff from what we could tell. It also appeared to be a local spot. We didn't feel extremely comfortable, but no one did or said anything to make us unwelcome. We decided to order one beer before moving onto the next destination, which we did. They have a full, but limited, bar from what I could tell, and a $10 minimum for credit card charges. They sold food, but I never saw the menu so I cant comment on that. There was a mediocre band playing and a designated space with four cornhole games set up. Smoking of cigarettes' and cigars were clearly allowed, but listening to the nonsmoker (especially cigar) complaints, I wouldn't if I were you. No pets allowed, even though the space is entirely outdoors. A very sweet lady started up a conversation with us, which briefly branched out to a couple other men seated near us. She made us feel more welcome and comfortable which definitely made a difference in our opinion and comfort level. Over all, it seems like a very nice place. View from the table is beautiful, seating is comfortable and relaxing. Food was fantastic, we had the Mahi Steak and Cheese and Fish and Chips. Service was nice. Only downside is smoking is permitted which spoils the dining experience for me. If you're into bird, boat, dolphin watching bring your camera and or binoculars. Don't come in a hurry, menu warns of long wait times for food when at peak. However with a nice drink and this view it is a pleasant wait. read more

Love the Tiki Bar and Grill!! It is wonderful to be able to go out and have good food and drinks during these times of social distancing. The staff are all taking the proper precautions which is why we have been back twice in 1 week. The Maui tacos are my fave always taste fresh and delicious. The Burger is hubbies favorite both times now. The grapefruit spritzer was generous pour and so refreshing. We also took advantage of the Scotch of the day, dalmore, which was an attractive price. Mahi Ruben sandwich was fantastic. The sandwich came very hot and the fish was moist and plentiful. It came with two sides, and I got the potato salad which was yummy. I loved the coleslaw, a homemade blend. Large portions of all were given. It was $16 for the combo sandwich and two sides. Seems a very reasonable price for what was given. Very nice water views. Such a disappointment. Hadn't been here before, and unfortunately Tiki measured up to the poor customer service and below par food quality others have reported in other reviews. Despite telling our waitress, Liz, my drink wasn't good (a Bahama mama that tasted like watered down banana juice), and that I didn't care for my food (tasteless mahi tacos with warm coleslaw & potato salad), she then confronted me about the low tip I left saying it wasn't her fault the food was bad, and that she had done her job. Interesting, considering she never came back with straws for our drinks & we had to get up and get them ourselves, she wasn't the person who delivered the food to our table, and she never offered to elevate my concerns OR offer a replacement drink or food entree. Instead, I was told because I had eaten 1/3 of the food on my plate, she couldn't do anything. I had eaten one taco which was a challenge to put down, 2 bites of the potato salad, and 1 bite of warm coleslaw. I drank maybe 4 sips of my drink. For this I paid $22.50. Part of being a good server and earning gratuity is ensuring that your patrons are happy and have a good dining experience. Another in our party got the Reuben sandwich and said it was full of fat and had to pick it apart to eat it. Menu prices had increased compared to what is currently posted on their website where fish tacos are advertised for $11.50 however are now $15; so a $3.50 increase (they need to update the posted menu on their website). Drinks were $7.50 and $9.25. I recommend you stick with the beer offerings. Fortunately, our group of 4 made the best of it enjoying the waterfront view and the locals sharing their talents on karaoke night despite all being disappointed in our meals. It's a shame with such a wonderful location, that management hasn't put forth more effort to make more of a name for themselves by focusing on securing a really good chef & kitchen crew and hiring servers that are invested in providing 5-star service. A beautiful relaxing evening at the Tiki Bar & Grill last Friday night. Our server (Dan) was prompt and made sure we didn't wait long for drinks and appetizers. The special drink of the evening was delicious and priced right. We tried the boneless buffalo chicken tenders for an appetizer. Very good. The chef salad was plentiful and fresh. This is the second time we came to the Tiki Bar & Grill. We love the atmosphere. This place is a great place to have drinks, listen to live music and hang by the river! The first time, we went there I gave a 5 star review because everything was perfect! I had the best Rum Runner I ever had. Yesterday, we went again. It was Saint Patrick's Day. We think Kim was having a bad day. She used the "F" word. She had a bad attitude. I had the worst Rum Runner! It was horribly bitter. I did not want to tell her so I told a waitress. The waitress told me I had to tell the bar tender (KIm the one with the tu-tu) because they were afraid to tell Kim. They said, they had to work with her and it would be like a death sentence to tell her. I would not tell Kim because I didn't want to upset her but my mild mannered husband decided to tell her that his wife didn't like the Rum Runner. It was bitter. She just added some sweeter to it and didn't offer to make a new one. It still was terrible. We think maybe she forgot to put something in it or put too much of something else in it. Very disappointing. I left the whole drink. We will go again but not get a beach type fun drink. A Rum Runner should always come out perfect at a place like this. read more
