Service: professional and fast and efficient. Staff know how to run a bar restaurant. Food: do not come here for the food, but it is fine. Hamburgers, fish, shrimp, and hot dog fine. Top of the morning to ya. Our family stopped here for an early dinner around 2:00pm on St patty's day. Paul was our server and he was very attentive to us. We ordered the seafood combo with a side salad. Sparkles is a fantastic server! She was so friendly, on the spot, and efficient at her job. She definitely lives up to her name. Shrimp were really crispy but overcooked, fries were ok. Coconut shrimp was just ok with a mango sauce that didn't have much flavor. Burger was only half eaten if that tells you anything. I stopped here for lunch and had a mixed experience. The burger was pretty good, and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, the service was very slow, even though the bar didn't seem particularly busy. We also noticed the bartender dismissing customers who were trying to place food orders. I'm not impressed with this place. Other than the live music and Minimal Regatta that occurred during our two visits, I wouldn't return. The staff are not friendly, it takes forever to get a drink and everything is dirty. Additionally, when I attempted to cash out on both visits the server just put everyone's drinks at the table on my bill, even though I was the only one getting up to leave, WTF!!! That's why I prefer paying with CASH versus a credit card so they can't F**k me like they tried to, two separate times with two different servers. Don't bother ordering one of their fancier drinks. I ordered their Key West Mai Thai ($10.75) and it was served in a cheap ass Dixie cup. The drink was ok but the presentation I expected for a restaurant in Key West was quickly deflated when it showed up in a plastic cup. Pricing is average for the area. Bottled Beer will run you $6.25 - $7.50, Imported Beers start at $7.50, Draft Beers $4.75-$6.75, Wine anywhere between $9-$14 a glass. I have to admit, you can have a lot of fun here especially if you're here for an event happening in the area such as the Minimal regatta or to see some live music with dancing. Other than that, it will be difficult for me to recommend Schooner Wharf Bar to anyone, or to plan my own return during my next visit to Key West. First place we grabbed food right off the plane. The boys wanted oysters real bad. Like 3 dozen bad. I ordered blackened snapper and it was really good. I ate it with the salad but it was too much for me. They have gigantic salads that you can order also. If you come here, please order the seafood dishes. Everything tastes fresh. This place is waterfront but once you're deep inside the innards of this very popular spot, you'll see no liquid except that in your plastic cup of $4-5 happy hour drink. They've got a wide selection of seafood and more served up on robust paper plates. Their servers are energetic, friendly, and harried. They're hustling. The live music is good, the drinks and food are reasonably priced, it's all fine. It was recommended by a friend as one of their fave KW spots. Another has since told me they love it, too. If I were to go again, it would be for the live music and drinks before or after dinner somewhere else. When in Key West, trying local eats and drinks is a must. My hubby and I dropped in to Schooner for a Key Lime Colada. I finally found an alcoholic beverage that my non-drinker husband really loves! We wound up sharing it, and I think we're gonna toast with them tomorrow night again. Schooner gets one star for a delicious beverage, another for friendly service, and a third for being right on the water. Unfortunately, there was a very bad smell that we could barely tolerate -- smelled like a dumpster -- and that knocked down the star level for me. While speaking for maybe 10 seconds, a dog came out from under their owner and attacked my dog, latching on at the base of her neck. Understandably, my dog yelled in fear and pain. That's not the business's fault, but the next part is. The bartender came to ask the attacking dog and owner if they were okay, paying zero attention to me coddling my dog who is clearly traumatized from the incident. Place was hopping with people and our waitress was on the ball with drinks and taking our food orders fast. I ordered the Clam Chowder and Blackened Mai Mai sandwich with Fries. My wife ordered the Traditional BLT Sandwich with Coleslaw. My dad ordered the Onion Rings. Our food came out fast even though they were very busy. All our food was good, and it was hot. My dads stated his Onion Rings were the best he's had in Key West. My Mai Mai very good as was the Fries. The Clam Chowder was the only food item that was subpar, I like it thicker and with more flavor. My wife's BLT was good as was the Coleslaw. This place has a great Key West Vibe. We started coming here back in the early 90's and watched Michael McCloud and ourselves grow old and had many a good meal over the years , but unfortunately while the service was good, on this last visit the food was underwhelming as our Conch fritters while hot there was little conch, mostly filler and the mango mayonnaise was over powered by the lime juice. My wife's cheeseburger tasted like it had been pre cooked and placed on the grill to rewarm. Asked to speak to a manager & the manager truly overlooked us; instead, we were just switched to another server. In addition, we even had to ask our new server what type of compensation we could receive due to our experience, which she processed to then say she could take our drinks off. There was live music during our visit, something I always appreciate. The food was far, far better than I expected. The fish and chips comes with two enormous pieces of fried fish. The shrimp BLT comes with a ton of bacon and plenty of shrimp on a beautiful roll. I tried one of the fish melts and, despite my hesitation about mixing fish and cheese, thought it was absolutely delicious. It's also huge. They have a full bar and also offer lots of slushy drinks served in plastic cups. Food is served on paper plates. The patio chairs are plastic and the tables under the covered patio are basically park benches. This place isn't fancy and doesn't pretend to be otherwise.
