I used to enjoy going to this place for a drink, some pool and darts. That was before the remodel. Not sure who's idea that was but it's not comfortable. Mismatched tables. Ginormous screen cutting off the gaming area. Dirty pool tables and old arcade games now. A karaoke booth in the middle of the place makes it feel off and there is absolutely zero flow to the place. Even worse is a loud, obnoxious and unprofessional bartender named Patty. She is rude unless she's practically making out with "regular" male patrons. On several occasions that I've been there, I can walk up to an empty bar with maybe 1-4 patrons at the far end of the bar where Patty practically lives and gossips about people, and am made to wait for up to 10 minutes without even so much as of an acknowledgment from her. Sometimes Patty will walk by me a few times to get ingredients to make 2nd or 3rd drinks for her regulars and continue to ignore me. I think in the last 2 years she and I have only ever spoken once. Last time I was there, my drink was accidentally spilled by another patron. When we asked for a mop to help clean up the spill, Patty gruffly responded that the mop was being used for something else and continued to walk around the bar to greet more of her friends. It took nearly 5 whole minutes before she stomped over to our area with paper towels and while complaining audibly started to wipe up the spill. I offered multiple apologies and to help clean it up but was ignored. After the spill was wiped up, we noticed the floor was still sticky. My partner asked for some kind of cleaning solution and I got more paper towels and we finished cleaning the sticky floor. After the spill was resolved, we continued to play pool and decided we would play some music. Not more than 45 seconds into our first song choices, Patty turned the volume down to an almost inaudible level. Only when she played more music did she turned the volume back up as she had the entire time we were there. DJ RICHIE RICH 10/10!! My friends & I randomly stumbled upon this spot. Staff was friendly, nice selection of activities to engage in. Spacious dance floor! But what really made our night & got us to stay until closing was the DJ. He was playing such fun music, took song requests, engaged with the crowd and you could just tell he really loves what he's doing!! Music is the biggest part of going out & if it weren't for the back to back bangers he kept playing I don't think we would've stayed as long as we did. My gal pals and I never been to a dive bar, but this was the most fun we've had out of all the bars we been to. There were pool tables, some arcade games, darts and an amazing dj (Dj Richie Rich). What more could you want for a fun night out? The staff was friendly, we even had the bartender dance with us at one point. His mixes and choice of music had my girls and I dancing, having a grand time, which compelled others to also come on the dance floor with us! Been coming here for a while now the service is usually good or it's slow . I've been wanting to update my review so here I go I was there with 3 of my buddies last week the lady I believe that was helping up named trinity. As we are waiting for our check it took over 30 minutes for what ever reason it wasn't busy at all. Next to me I seen her get into an argument with another lady wanting to pay and she trinity was really rude to her as well as us . Then she threw a glass that was filled in her face . She need to be let go from there . And not just us we're waiting to pay so was that couple . I will not come back for that reason . We usually come in 2 days a week and spend money but I'll take my buisness somewhere else . No customer should ever get treated that way . I believe she said she was the manager. One of my favorite dive bars in the area. Good size, variety of bar games, reasonable drink prices, and bartenders are friendly enough.

This is a lovely dive bar with a ton of seating and plenty of games for visitors to enjoy, including a wall full of dartboards, air hockey, two pool tables, and a few arcade games (though these were dark/unplugged on a Sunday afternoon)... no shuffleboard on site as of Jan 2024. We played some darts and billiards during our time at Normandy, and had a boatload of fun while getting tipsy off some standard cocktails (slow but friendly service). You can ask for darts at the bar and can play for free if you don't wanna keep score, but to actually play the different dart games (ie. cricket) and keep score, you'll need to pay cash. It's cheap though, and so are the pool tables. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's clean, modern, and spacious inside, with the games and machines in working order and in very good condition, except for a couple of the dart boards super sensitive to touch, so if pulling off darts, it would count as a miss on the next player's turn (we didn't have this problem with the red machines though). No crowds, no waits to play games, just good times! read more

Went there this past weekend and seen a bartender explode over customers sitting at a back table. I tried telling them they weren't the problem and didn't do what they were being accused of. She shouldn't be working in a bar with anger issues. She was screaming all over the place and swearing on the PA system. Accusing customers while they were just sitting. Another bartender intervened not sure what happened but we won't be back. They need more security if they're going to have events there read more

Will never return to this bar, the blond female bartender couldn't have been more rude or obnoxious. It took a while to get her attention while she chatted up her friends, I got a drink then my friend did a bit later, when she replied that her shot of Hennessy was a bit over priced ( she's worked in Food service for years). She was told to take her fucking drink and leave her bar. She looked a little drunk when we arrived but we were not at all prepared for her anger and yelling at the two of us. I've read a few bad reviews about the same bartender but it looks like the owner does not care what customers have experienced there. Don't expect to see people wearing suits and being all fancy here, ordering fancy cocktails and asking for specialty drinks, nah, blood, this ain't that kinda establishment! What could improve?...... Everything! I was charged $31 for a double shot of VS brandy, which I was thinking I could buy a liter at Costco for less. When I voiced my thought out loud, the unwarranted, unprovoked response from the bartender was, verbatim, "Drink your f#%ing drink and get the f#%k out of here." I didn't see that coming. I had not been disrespectful, nor rude. As I walked with my friend to close her tab, the bartender charged from behind the bar and continued again unprovoked with another round of verbal abuse. Shamefully I did react and responded in kind. At that point I was pushed from behind and then escorted to the front door. Happy to leave. Happy to never return. And happy to warn anyone, considering a visit to the Normandy, that this is one of the ugliest unprofessional personalities behind a bar (or any profession) you could ever imagine. I didn't try the food, but the taco truck in the back parking lot along with a gate, blocks the Newhall egress forcing all patrons of this little strip mall to enter from a busy intersection. One of the bartenders were off the clock drunk and basically chased us out of there, I would say this was an odd and maybe one time experience (people have bad days) but as a regular customer I won't be returning thanks to her. I've dealt with her multiple times and she has always given me problems and even when I'm not there my friends always have problems with her. I was looking for a place to have some drinks and appetizers to catch up with an old friend and came across this neat looking place, thinking it would be perfect: only to be utterly disappointed. The service I witnessed occur to one of the other customers has left me beyond shocked at how this place serves and treats their people. I was there when a previous review mentioned how a bartender reacted to an ID situation and can honestly say that the bartender was in the wrong. I work in the customer service industry and cannot fathom being spoken to the way this employee spoke to a customer, let alone ever speaking to someone this way! I have to respect the female customer for keeping her calm and well manners. The bartender was YELLING at these guests and this nice lady and even mentioned RACE!? She said something along the lines of a form of identification being "a Mexican ID card" (For the record, I am Caucasian and I don't find this acceptable in ANY way if that matters to anyone) In no way shape or form should race even be brought up nowadays. At a place to eat or drink. I was left feeling EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Not only for myself but for other guests around me too. And feeling sorry for the guests who ended up having to leave because of the actions of this bartender. If you're going to treat your guests this way, I don't recommend anyone coming to this place. This happened I believe around 10pm on Monday July 11. I hope the actions of the bartender are addressed and reprimanded because this was completely unacceptable to the paying customers. Absolute horrible service. Bartender (I believe named Trinity) has a god awful attitude and takes long periods of time away from the bar. Waited over 20 minutes on my drinks. Came here to warn customers but looks like other customers have already complained. The manager comments and has the same excuse that she's stocking items in the back but you can check on your customers every few minutes... I, too, am a bartender so I know how it goes. My son brought me here because he has been here previously and said it was a great spot. He was definitely correct! I met Bruce and Stephanie the bartenders and they were professional and super friendly. The bar was very busy but they attended to all the customers quickly. I met Freddy a regular and we chatted it up and shared life stories. Such a great neighborhood gem and super clean! A couple of pool tables and lots of dart boards along with a hockey table. I'm giving this place 4 stars because it's got what it needs in terms of providing a classic dive experience. In other words... strong & cheap drinks, dark lighting, variety of games (pool, air hockey, darts... several more), very casual atmosphere, on a busier night a decent variety of drunken folks, and a little attitude from the bartenders . This used to be my go-to dive bar in the area until I cut back on the alcohol. The Normandy. I love thee. This is my bar :) I remember coming here with my boyfriend for the first time and he referred to it as "the ghetto Dave & Busters". At the risk of sounding trashy, it is all that and more. People (trashy hipsters) talk about their FAVORITE dive bars and their love of the stained carpets and slight moldy smell... the Normandy is anything BUT this. Let me start by giving my love to Stevie. Rockin gal that makes us smile every time we're in there. The rest of their staff is pretty stinkin consistent as well, Stevie's just my gal! The decor is just perfect. Clean. Nothin too flashy. And simple! HUGE dance floor, no stained carpets ;) They have a foosball table in the back as well as an air hockey table, shuffle board!!!!, 3 dart boards (we will play cricket for daaays), and two pool tables. They also have a super modern jukebox, and a DJ spinning most nights. I will say, we tend to go during their off hours or when it's not as busy, because when it's busy, IT'S POPPIN! The college kids can be really annoying in their take overs and I know the bartenders don't appreciate being taken advantage of by snobby, over privileged, private school kids from the university... I will never forget how hard my bf and I were laughing along with the regulars outside for a smoke break, at 10pm on a TUESDAY night to a line of these SCU kids WRAPPED around the building wearing night club attire.... So yee be warned, the history here IS that of a local watering hole. A Santa Clara regular and FAVORITE for all that frequent, so don't show up with 20 of your sorority sisters wearing this years bedazzled nightmare pulled up over your see you next Tuesday. Been to this bar a few times and have to say it's pretty decent and safe. It definitely has some great people watching. Modelo on tap which is a must for me. The bartenders are very nice especially to new people and seem to have a lot of love for their regulars also. There is a dj playing decent music Fridays and Saturdays and they mix in a little karaoke too, which after some of the performers I heard last night they shouldn't mix in karaoke. I am a vain vain vain girl. Number one reason I like the Normandy? College boys drinking there might hit on me if they are drunk enough. And at my age, that's seriously amazing shit. Like winning the lottery. Don't get me wrong, I get regular offers from the dudes hanging outside of Alex's 49er Inn at 11 am as I'm walking by on my way into Savers. But those dudes are usually drunk, tripping, and possibly homeless. And missing teeth and sometimes limbs. So back to Normandy, yes, twice had the baby boys hit on me (yay!) and this makes me happy. Also to love: lots of seats, good stiff drinks, clean restrooms (new ones in the back), karaoke with the rad DJ Jeff and we can ride our bikes here from home.
