I bought a Living Social Deal for this place but sadly I could not redeem. I was trying to make…read morereservations and the owner told me that his paddleboards were missing because someone did not return them for a few days. I was a little sad because I paid $10 per person for a 1 hour paddleboard session, which in my opinions, is the cheapest deal I've seen! The owner, Mike, was so kind to email and text me to let me know what had happened. He was super nice!! He said that he would give me a full refund for the two tickets that I purchased, and also, give me free kayak rentals since there was a bit of a dilemma. I took up on that offer, emailed Mike, and made reservations to do a tandem kayak for an hour on a Sunday at noon. Mike is all about customer service and wants to make customers satisfied so he offered to throw in another hour for free! My sister and I got to the beach, with the help of Mike's perfect directions, and we laid out for about an hour. We got side street parking! (FREE!) Mike came 2 minutes before noon and unloaded our kayaks. He was so nice to give us some ziplock bags to put our phones in so they don't get wet. My sister and I had a blast! Although it was a bit windy so we were going against the wind! We kayaked for about an hour and 15 minutes. Too bad we couldn't do the two hours. It is definitely a great arm workout! Once we were done, I just texted Mike and docked our kayaks on the beach and that was it! I would definitely come here again! Hope you get your kayaks back soon!! Pricing is fair, and they don't start your time until you go into the water. We've been here once…read morebefore and had a great time, which is why we figured bringing some friends out to celebrate a birthday would be worthwhile. However, the customer service we experienced put a damper on the celebration. We brought a group of 14 on a Saturday afternoon and were told we needed to call ahead of time for a group larger than 8. Nowhere on their website or Yelp indicates a reservation is required for a group larger than 8. In fact, their website states walk-ins are welcome, but groups of 20 or more require a reservation. I'd recommend updating your website if the reservation requirements have changed. The guy at the counter pointed at their graveyard of broken kayaks as an excuse despite not even asking whether we wanted to paddle board or kayak. He stepped aside to call the owner about our large group and eventually okayed us to use their rentals. When we told him most of us wanted to paddle board and we needed only 2 tandem kayaks, he admitted he assumed we each wanted single kayaks--which he would have had to bring down to the water. It sounded like he was too lazy to bring single kayaks out for all of us, but we would have gladly helped if he had asked. Lucky for him, the paddle boards and kayaks we needed were already ready by the water for us. He made a big deal out of nothing. We did enjoy our time out on the water and brought back the rentals an hour before close. However, we all were very turned off by the customer service we received and will likely look for a new kayak/paddle board rental place to bring our business to. This experience definitely did not leave a good first impression to our friends who had not been here before.

I visited the Newport Aquatic Center for the second time this past weekend for a friend's birthday…read moreand had another great experience! The kayak and paddleboard rentals are affordable, and signing the waiver online beforehand makes check-in quick and easy. The water route is beautiful and scenic. Just be mindful of the shallow grassy areas, as my paddleboard fin got stuck a couple of times. I'd also recommend bringing hand sanitizer or tissues, since the bathrooms were occasionally out of soap or toilet paper. If you can, use the restroom inside the Aquatic Center building instead. Overall, it's a fun, scenic spot that's open year-round, and I'd definitely recommend it!

We saw many happy folks paddling in their water craft though, and large groups who, I'm assuming, went out on tours. We saw plenty of teams coming and going who keep their equipment there. Their restrooms are located on the side of the building and are open to the public. The reason we came to NAC is that they offer a perfect launch spot for paddle sports. This area of Newport Back Bay is very calm and leads into the estuary. It's a beautiful place to paddle, with abundant bird life and waterfowl, as well as "flying" fish, and no doubt an abundance of marine life below the surface. Besides being a launch point, many families with young children also appreciate the calm water here. The area between beach and boundary can be swum in and is quite shallow. As a side note, once out on the water beyond this boundary, one cannot swim or exit their paddle craft. There is a parking lot for NAC but there's also a large dirt lot for visitors, for the amazing price of $0! Great access, beautiful wetlands, calm waters...this is a perfect place for all types of paddlers, nature enthusiasts, and families looking for a quieter alternative to the beach.

Very accessible to reach via text and email. Waivers required as well. Now having tried this for the first time in the ocean, I recommend a harbor paddle if the waves may intimidate you or, even, wear my own O'Neill life jacket (jacket is more for returning back to shore). This activity was one for our friends' bucket lists and we all had the best day!! Yelp recommendations did not leave me astray. Thank you! Decided to plan a paddle board rental and beach day with friends for a birthday surprise. If you're planning something like this, I also recommend a patio lunch at the Rooftop Lounge as it is not far either from theLaguna Beach location where we met Erin. We were a small group of four and she accommodated us perfectly. The weather was perfect this week so we didn't need to adjust the time of the excursion either so we enjoyed an early evening two-hour rental. The sunset-ish vibes were incredible too, to be on the ocean. She met us and had our boards and paddles, dry bag (if needed), and our floatation safety equipment on the beach ready for us. She guided us with specific instructions to get out over the waves. She then walks us out with our board and makes sure we go out one-by-one. It was such a rush to get over those waves, because I admit, the ocean can be intimidating. All the places I've swam before, I've never really encountered waves this big or a boat dropped me off to snorkel. Waves are just another element. The best advice was being on our knees and just digging the paddle into the water as fast as possible and next thing I know, we are all out in the ocean having the best time! The experience is amazing and we haven't laughed like this in a long while. I stood up to paddle board only twice, but I fell on the first try. I admit, I felt much more comfortable paddling while on my knees. It was perfect. Note: SAFELY return to shore, come in one-at-a-time as Erin instructs. She and a lifeguard were amazing and helped us return. For me, it was much needed. I am so thankful for their assistance. Those waves, man oh man, a big lesson for me that day, but we are all still reeling, laughing and talking about the day. FYI: If choosing a longer rental as we had, I'd recommend using her dry bag and bring water, a small towel (in case you do go in the water and need to dry salt water from eyes as that does sting) Also, use durable ziplocs to secure anything you may get wet. I also had my phone in one of those necklace protector sleeves and it took surprisingly took great photos through the plastic. Reminder for me to also secure the dry bag on the paddle board straps much more securely too as it did get wet, on accident, in the water when I was returning to shore. The waves knocked the bag off the board but easily retrieved. Just wet because I didn't close it properly-oops. Actually, just assume whatever you take into the ocean will get wet. One friend did lose her Ray Bans, but Erin warned us prior. Oops! Nonetheless, the best birthday surprise!!! So much fun!!! I highly recommend a beach day paddle boarding (find an area you're comfortable with the waves though or stick to the harbor). Don't hesitate to check with Erin because she is so helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you again, Erin, for such a great beach experience.
