Butter Masala with Chicken & Naan

I get by with a little help from my friends; and my friends agreed... the food is good (quality & flavor). This is what I suspected after indulging in Tikka Shack goodies during a recent Yelp Elite event, but I am not an expert on Indian cuisine, so I called in reinforcement. Tikka Shack's menu is organize a in a way that allows the casual diner to learn the dishes by category. I had spinach masala with lamb and naan, while a friend had butter chicken masala. My friend with cultural expertise faked us out by ordering from a different section of the menu (kabab bowl + chicken tikka?). The restaurant has a nice vibe with multiple seating areas indoors and out. The service was good and we enjoyed the bicycle/jitney the men decor.

Food looked great, but failed to deliver on so many aspects. Overall tasted bland, causing me to not even finish the food. The naan was okay though, and the overall ambience was nice with very spacious seating.

White washed and bland. Would not recommend anyone here. By far the WORST Indian food I've tried. Ordered a meal for 2 special with chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. Both were disgusting and tasted like Gerber baby food. There were NO spices in the curry. I was so disappointed looking at how bland my garlic naan was. I refused to eat them. The only saving grace was the samosas. They were decent!

Comfortable counter-service venue featuring a reasonable selection of curries, biryanis and other sides. We ate in, and the service was quick and friendly and the food came promptly as well and was hot and fresh. Some of the negatives seen in reviews may relate to doordash/ubereats/etc, as this isn't a style of food that tolerates long delays between preparation and consumption very well. They describe themselves as a place to begin a love for Indian food, and that's pretty accurate; it's not the most extensive or fully authentic menu, but it is tasty and good. Their heat scale tends towards the beginner mild side as well; I had my curry "hot" and while it had a pleasant degree of spiciness, it was more like what I would call medium. If you're new to Indian or spicy food in general, "mild" will certainly be safe for you. Decent selection of canned beers from local brews, a definite plus for me. Located in the VIntage Park shopping/dining/entertainment complex, it is real easy parking and in-out dining.

The absolute WORST Indian food I've ever had! We were excited to try this place, and came in on a Saturday for lunch. The place was empty ( bad sign) We ordered samosa chaat street style, the samosa was soggy and overall not fresh. The mango lassi is prepackaged and tasted more like yogurt than fresh mango. Awful! We ordered chicken 64, lamb korma, butter chicken and butter naan. The lamb korma, and butter chicken were so bland and flavorless. The chicken 64 was just ok. This place is horrible and I'm sure they'll be closing their doors soon.

must admit, I have very limited exexperience with Indian food. This was a great introduction! I was worried about the spice level but I was able to handle everything. It was flavorful and comforting. It felt like a warm hug from the inside out.

I've been meaning to try this spot for a bit now and finally had the chance to stop by... even the kids tagged along! The food was good! It was hot, presented nicely, and came out within a reasonable amount of time post ordering. The servings were a bit on the smaller size though - which for the money, left me with pause. I ordered a kabob plate and a side of garlic naan - my kids had the child's version with one selecting a pizza. I was pleasantly surprised they didn't leave asking for too much more - although they still did and we spent about $65 (again not a cheap outing for four). The staff were very attentive, the space was clean and well kept. I loved how they politely ask you to clean up behind yourself with little signs at each table...lol I recommend stopping by & giving it a try if you're in the area! I think it's a welcome addition to The Vintage!

This place looked to be relatively new and seemed to have some exciting menu options, but I was however disappointed with the price and quality of food. The meal deal they offer starts off with a base of rice, followed by your pick of veggies, paneer cheese, or meat, and naan if you want for extra. I didn't feel like getting rice, so I asked if I could get the coconut curry with naan instead of rice, and with paneer added in. The curry was very runny, and I thought there would at least be some baseline level of veggies (there was absolutely nothing) with just a handful of paneer cubes. The naan was plain and relatively small...honestly, it was more like pita bread. The meal cost around $13 but I feel like the offering didn't meet the value. Don't think I'd be too excited to return.

We've passed this place so many times and finally stopped by the other night after the plaza was hosting a Halloween event. It smelled incredible when we walked in. My daughters and I all got the butter masala with chicken and we got regular naan. I ordered it regular and not spicy due to the kids also eating it but I would definitely get it spicy if I was alone and I would do the garlic naan next time! You order at the counter, take your number to your table, and they bring it right out. Everything was fast and really, really good. I will for sure be back as Indian food is a favorite of my family!

Not sure why this place is getting all the hate, it's clean, fresh and quick. Affordable and a good portion of food for around $12. Chicken Tikka Masala is always a nice meal, very favorable. Grabbed it to go, had it ready in minutes and on my way. Go check it out.

Lovely food, I got the spinach masala with lamb and garlic naan. Kind and attentive staff. Clean environment. I will be ordering food from here again!

Good Indian spot for the area, and hots the spit if you're craving some. Our favorite was the street style chaat, so refreshing and flavorful. We also really enjoyed the lamb biryani and samosas. The tikka pizza was good but would've been better id we added chicken or paneer. Both desserts were alright at best. Good try!

I had seen this restaurant open after pasing by a few times and finally decided to stop in. This is yet another americanized fast casual Indian place to open up in the Houston area. The last one, Tarka, I didn't like so much. It's just too corporate and not very authentic. I ordered a few dishes and a couple of drink options. I tried the butter masala with chicken, lamb vindaloo (made it spicy 1 level), and kabob bowl. I also added 2 Naan (a garlic, and a Tikka Naan (with cheese)). Their drinks are either Tractor brand fountain drinks (juices and teas only), or bottled drinks, including canned coke products, Mexican cokes and Jarritos, beer, and ethnic bottled juices like lychee, mango and guava purees. The dining room is bright, modern and has all the typical Indian colors. The food comes out and I try the butter masala first. Just based on looks, it looks boring. It also tastes sort of bland but surprisingly has some kick to it. Most butter chickens don't. The lamb vindaloo is better and more complex. It is spicy too but not overwhelming. The kabob bowl took nearly 20 mins to come out. I didn't feel it was worth the wait. Chicken was juicy but just average. They also charged me for 3 naan, but I had only asked for 2. Overall, its okay for the area. I would return and order favorites from my 1st visit, but I prefer the more authentic indian food just across 249.

The samosas were delicious! My fiancé and I both loved our dishes. I ate most of the naan because he's not a cilantro guy. Honestly cool with that--I loved the naan. The ambiance was cool inside, cozy and I bet families come all the time and make core memories here. 10/10. We both got medium spicy and my nose was running but it was worth it. My husband is from India (Gujarat) so we eat authentic Indian food on a regular basis and we found the food here to be a different flavor than what we're used to, probably because it's more Pakistani than Indian in terms of flavor. Both of the curries we had were more sweet than what we're used to, but they weren't bad. Just didn't satisfy our cravings! My husband ordered the Paani Puri as it's his all-time favorite dish and they prepared it here much differently than what he's used to. He really wasn't a fan. Their Masala Fries (an appetizer), however, were absolutely incredible! I haven't had fries like this before and the crunch fries paired with the assorted sauce combination was so delicious. If you're looking for Indian food and are searching for a specific flavor palette, I might recommend trying elsewhere because your tastebuds might not be fully satisfied here. Otherwise, give this place a try as they have a variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from!

If you're not a fan of spicy, I would stick with level 1 or 2. I ordered mine with basil rice. Pretty good. I'll be back for sure. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy at all. Decor was very basic. I noticed one table that needed to be cleaned the entire time I was there. Bottom line - Really good Indian food. However, The lack of attention to detail in the dining area cost them a star. But the owner stopped us mid-menu and said, "No. I've got you." And THANK GOD he did, because what he brought out changed my entire understanding of what good food is. First came the cauliflower appetizer and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the single most amazing thing I have ever put in my mouth. Perfectly crispy, perfectly sauced, perfectly everything. I will be dreaming about that cauliflower for the rest of my life. Then he brought out two more dishes that were so good I had to just sit there in silence like I was having a spiritual awakening. You can feel the love and passion in his cooking. This man didn't just serve us food he served us his heart, his culture, his everything. The hospitality? Immaculate. You can tell this is his passion and it shines through every second you're there. Nicest man ever, best food ever, best experience ever. I am genuinely thankful to the universe for leading me to this restaurant. If you're wondering whether to go GO. And let him pick your food. Just trust the process. Absolute perfection.
