I've heard so many great things about Everest and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to give it a try. First, shoutout to my server Rohan(sp?). He was so helpful explaining the menu and made a great recommendation for a lamb dish. He even had the chef make me some special bread that was melt in your mouth amazing. Wow, I'm sitting here having a fabulous meal! We love their mango lassi, sweet yogurt drink, and always keep it handy to cope with anything spicy we order. In addition to the mango lassi, Mr. picky loves to gorge on - and I'm not sure if it's on the menu at this point - the hot garlic cheese naan. That is a decided taste treat, so good! Wonderful small cafe with excellent service. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I wanted to watch the college football championship game at the bar and they went to great lengths to set up their TV and app to get the game on for me! I love Indian food but I'd never had Rhogan Josh. I asked about it and was told theirs was excellent and I should definitely try it. I took them up on it and I'm glad I did! I was in the area and went here mostly for the Nepalese dishes. Everything we tried was tasty. It's adjacent to a gas station but that didn't bother me. Inside, the atmosphere was fine but nothing special. The momas, samosas, butter chicken, and Nepalese goat curry (forgot the exact name), and chicken kabobs were great. Unfortunately, our waiter barely spoke English and couldn't offer suggestions or answer questions about the menu. That was disappointing because I was curious about several items I hadn't heard of before. It seemed like everyone else spoke solid English. I ordered the curry "extra spicy" and it came out mild, which surprised me because other reviews suggest this place serves really spicy food when requested. I wondered if my unexpectedly mild curry was because of the language barrier. With that said, we really enjoyed the food we ordered, and our server did a good job otherwise. My fiancée ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it tasted different (rather sweet) compared to any other Sauvignon Blanc we've had. She asked if they'd poured the correct wine and sure enough the bottle did say Sauvignon Blanc. Instead of offering something else, they topped off her half empty glass, which was nice but kind of odd because she said she didn't like it. We were surprised the wine wasn't taken off the bill. This wasn't a big deal because people don't come here for the wine, and some might like the unique Sauvignon Blanc, but you'd think they'd have a more standard selection. I've passed this gem up just about every single day with zero thoughts of stopping by. This particular business location has been everything from a KFC to a fast food Indian fried chicken restaurant. And to add to that it's attached to a gas station. So the odds for me taking it serious as a bar and grill was arrogantly on my part never going to happen. Boy was I wrong! I was honestly just waiting for this place to close down and hopefully would reopem under a familiar name to broaden the selection in this neighborhood. What a waste of waiting. Okay so how did it happen? How did I finally give it a try? Well, being not so much a fan until recently of Indian food, I finally after trying another spot a few miles away that totally changed my taste buds, figured why the heck not. I will order the same dish I ordered from the other spot to see how others in the cultures would make it. So we yelped it to check out the photos and it looked impressive. We stopped by during lunch and to my surprise there was a good number of people there. That's a good sign as 80% appeared to be Indian. (Hey! Think about it; if you go into a Mexican restaurant and see none of that race patronizing it then it just may not be too good or authentic. So, just using that same logic.) I placed my order for Curry goat without ginger but the chef refused to make it without it. Okay fine, a chef with pride. I personally don't like ginger so I ordered another dish that was gingerless. The wife however proceeded with the curry goat. So when our order came out, I tasted her dish and she tasted mine. I was wow'd. Very wow'd. I could not taste the ginger in hers at all. Or, perhaps finally it was my first time having it prepared the correct way. That meal was extremely amazing. And mine personally wasn't as good. In fact, where her Curry goat was tender, my lamb was not. I totally blame me for that as I ordered it specially made by asking them to omit certain ingredients. So it really didn't have time to simmer correctly. Nevertheless, my experience there with the excellent service and cocktails where a 5 star experience. I being one with a pickiness about there being a bug zapper mounted on the wall, makes me drop a star. It was clean and I get that insects fly in, but although it was fancy and looked kinda cool, it is what it is and I have to remove a star. Oh wow, what a great hidden gem! The food here was very authentic and delicious! All the dishes we had tried were all great! My only concern was the limited seating / wait time and the cleanliness of cleanup after the guests before us. To be fair it was the end of the day and the whole restaurant felt like it had a whole days worth of traffic had come through; tables, floors, menus, bathrooms were all a little sticky, and the waiters all seemed flustered. The owners hovering over them at all times gave me some Himalaya owner vibes. The parking situation is horrendous, we waited about 10 min just to be able to try and get a spot, some Uber people were parking at the gas station pumps, that's how busy the parking lot was. Once inside the place is really small and usually Indian restaurants aren't full, but this place was packed! You might need to make reservations on a weekend. We were seated right away at the last available table. We ordered vegetable samosa and the chili momo as our appetizers. Both were delicious. We then ordered: Butter chicken, lamb korma, goat biryani, 2 sets of naan and okra. All the food was absolutely delicious with great depth of flavors. The food came out 15 min apart which is really unacceptable as we were almost done eating before the rest of our food came out. We ended our meal with ras malai and gulab jamun. Had a great eating experience at this Indian restaurant. We tasted a variety of their menu, from the soups to their grilled chicken to their curry and naan. I would suggest going a level lower in your spicy level choice until you're familiar with their dishes. The servers was good at letting us know that it might be spicier than other places. Let me say... i was a little nervous when we pulled up and saw that the restaurant was attached to a gas station. But oh my gosh i'm so glad we decided to stay and try it out! This is one of our favorite place when it comes to south Asian cuisine. We are 45 minutes drive from here but it's worth the drive. The service is fast and they are friendly. The server was very attentive and accommodating. We had chai, mango lassi and plain sweet lassi. Chai was great and so was mango but the sweet lassi somehow was watery and kinda bland and we switched it to mango lassi. We got pani puri and some of the puri were soggy while others were crunchy and perfect, the spice level was great. We had chicken thali, goat thali and chicken tandoori with nans and loads of nans. We enjoyed our lunch and took left overs for dinner! The price is good and the taste is great! Feedback- I wish they did something about all the flies inside the restaurant. We get excited by the opportunity to get Nepalese food because we love Momos, but we dropped in on Everest Curry Bar in a strip mall in Cypress with low expectations. AMAZING! The texture of the chicken and the powerful yet satisfying flavors of their butter chicken hit the spot! The rice was light.. just as it should be! All of these were quite good. Of these two types of dumplings, I preferred the kothey momo, probably because they were steamed and fried. Today I ordered the chilli momo chicken, and they were excellent! The heat was pretty intense, but not overpowering the flavor of the spices.
