Extremely disappointed. Placed an order over a week ago for specialty cupcakes. I was very specifoc that i moreso wanted carrot cake muffins and wanted absolutely no frosting in or on them. I stopped in to get a cookie basket as a thank you gift, but there were only 2 pre-made ones and I wanted a customized one with more selections. I asked the employee if he could make one for 20 people and he said "no, we are not doing them on the spot anymore. We need a few days notice" there were 3 employees working and no one seemed too busy so I don't understand the lack of customer service....meanwhile if you go to any bakery or even stop and shop they'll accommodate you. I have lived in the area & have been going to Tildas for over thirty years! The donuts pastries & service are not the same since Tildas was sold in 2019. It is very unorganized so don't go there if you're in a hurry the line never moves as the younger workers are more interested in talking about their Saturday night exploits than moving the line and servicing the CUSTOMERS! There is an older lady that works there that is very rude to the customers & management is deaf & complicit to the complaints! First off I am a big fan of independent stand alone Bakeries as I feel their quality can not be matched at The local grocery stores or shopping clubs. I ordered jelly and Boston Cream Donuts which were good but I must admit I have had far better from Prestano's in Selden which unfortunately is now closed. Mini cannolis that are fresh, cream puffs that are puffy with sweet cream and the best cakes in town. I bought a "Yodel" cake that was just outstanding! This cake was straight out of the seventies. Since it opened, and throughout my childhood, I have gotten my birthday cakes from Tilda's, since I spent my summers nearby. I'm glad to see it thriving. I went in the other day and got some plain white sandwich bread, and then I saw, slightly tucked aside, traditional croissants, so I bought 2. I saw the great reviews on here and decided to give this place a try as a possibility for my wedding cake. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and there were no other customers. I proceeded to walk up to the counter and ask the girl if they offered wedding cake tastings. She looked at me like I had 3 heads. She went and talked to someone else, came back to me and said 'Yes'. Then just looked at me. I then said, "Can I set one up?". She asked when I wanted to do it and I asked well, what days do you offer it. Now, I had never been here before and so far was treated like I should have known all this information. A few other customers walk in at this point and there are three people behind the counter. Still, only this girl is interacting with anyone and right now it's with me. She then hands me a menu and says 'Just tell me what you want to try' and stands there with a pad of paper. Not a great way to make me feel happy and confident. What is supposed to be a joyous planning event is turning into something where i feel rushed and in not so capable hands. She also tells me she doesn't know anything about this kind of thing and she keeps asking someone else behind the counter, that person doesn't apparently want to come speak to me directly. In the end I just left. I put the paper down, said no thanks, and left. I then drove to another bakery where I was welcomed and was told about all the items they offer and ways they can customize things for my big day. I'm sure the food here is amazing but the staff caused me to leave and look elsewhere. Bad experience and I wouldn't recommend based on that alone. read more
