I love this office, I have had my homeowners and cars ( mine and BF's) with them for more than 3 years. There is a State Farm app that is amazing for claims. I was in an accident at the begging of my policy, wasn't my fault, my agency fought for me and even got my deductible back. I'm only providing one star so that the post will go through. This insurance agent is very shady. They added numerous authorized drivers to a policy without consent from the policy holder. They withhold information and aren't very detailed. You will miss so much information with this agent and will receive so many surprises that will cost you lots of money in the end. The customer service is horrible and your private information is not protected. Daneisha and the office manager are uninformed and the insurance policies they create for their customers don't make sense. My private information was released to a family member (details about my driving history) and I called in to ask for their privacy policy I was told I couldn't get it. When I asked for the office managers name she hung up on me without warning. I was disappointed my information was given out and I was asking for policies governing protection of privacy and the response was your not our customer we cannot tell you anything. And Tims response explains why this agent will continue to do whatever they want to do without your consent. People can add you to their policy without your personal information and knowledge and that policy holder will have rights to your personal information. Again, without your knowledge and not even providing any personal identifying information. And I don't live with the family member, I did before many years ago but not currently and they will discuss your personal information with the policy holder. There seems to pave a loop hole. read more

Staff is very rude, unhelpful, and continued to charge me after I left. The agent will only speak with you when you threaten to cancel. Hustlers that just want to sell. Tried to cancel all my policies, Tim called me (btw, the first time the agent EVER called me), and went on and on to beg to keep me. So, I gave him a chance. 6 more months. He said he'd check in, help with some other services, etc... Never did. I then called to cancel all 3 of my polices. It took 3 phone calls. (one to 800 number after hours, and 2 to the office), and they still got it wrong. They didn't follow instructions and continued to charge me for one of my policies. Called to notify them that they were still billing me, the staff was rude, sarcastic, and did not accomodate any of my requests or issue any refund. Another reason never to use State Farm. Don't get hustled by this Agent and his rude office. read more

I have been buying renter insurance from this State Farm office in Washington DC. I have found agent Daneisha to be very professional and helpful. She is knowledgeable and quick to respond to phone calls or emails. I highly recommend this State Farm office! read more

I have been with Statefarm for about 6 years. I have lived in 3 different states and had 3 different agents. I was very happy with the first two. I got a DC agent when I moved to DC, but the level of disorganization at her office has become untenable. I decided I needed to change agents. After our last policy debacle, I called the LaCasse agency and explained the situation. The young lady with whom I spoke was very understanding, polite, and professional, and told me the agency would be happy to receive my business, but that I would need to ask the other agent to transfer the policy over. I had no objection to doing that, but I didn't ask for detailed instructions. At the time our new renter's policy was still being written, so I decided to wait until that process had been completed. I called back again today to find out what, exactly, I needed to do to get our auto and renters policies switched over and a different young lady told me I would not be allowed to switch because that's "not how Statefarm does business". I asked if I am entitled to choose my agent or switch agencies if my agent is incompetent. She said I would need to call the corporate office and that "that is not something we would be able to do". She could not give me a logical reason why Statefarm would prevent me from changing my agent and did not seem to care that she was turning down business. I told her the previous employee I spoke to indicated that my current agent would need to transfer the policy at my request, but that she made no mention of a prohibition on switching agents. She gave no explanation for the inconsistency and said neither my current agent nor the LaCasse agency would be able to initiate the transfer. I told her I would bring my business to an agent who actually wants it and bid her good day. Mr. LaCasse, I worked in customer service for a looong time, and I must tell you, this is not the way to run a business. Your staff should be consistent in their answers. They should be helping customers solve problems, not creating new ones. The policies should be logical and customer centered. The idea that I cannot choose which agent services my policy is BANANAS! I cannot imagine what could possibly be gained from such a policy. Do you want your staff to go out of their way to obtain and maintain business or to find a reason to turn down business? In the age of Yelp, having employees with a "no" mentality simply will not fly. I strongly encourage you to rethink your hiring and training practices. read more

Usually you pick insurance based on rates and recommendations. But, you don't really know if you have good or bad insurance until something really tragic happens and you need help and you need guidance. My husband and children and I were in Canada on a long road trip pulling a camper when we had an auto accident where there were multiple serious injuries and all vehicles were totaled. Words cannot describe the sadness and distress we were in for everyone involved. My first call was to my father and my second was to Tim, our insurance agent. We had just switched our auto and home insurance from Travelers to State Farm just 30 days prior to taking off on our road trip and I was so scared about how we were going to cover everything being that we were newly covered and the accident was so severe. Tim immediately went into high gear to make calls for us and to give us all our insurance options on how we could get back to DC. I felt that we had a life line to get us through such a dark time. We were pulling a small camper and decided to bring it back with us so we purchased a used car in Canada and Tim set us up to be insured for our way back home. After returning back to DC, Tim took the time to sit with us to go over the claim. I joked with him that I felt like we now have one of those stories that you see on those sappy insurance commercials where the agent is invited to the wedding. It's really like that. In my 25 years of owning a car, I've been insured by USAA, Geico, Traveler's and now State Farm. I've had to deal with insurance on smaller issues with mediocre service and coverage, and I can't imagine how lost I would have been to have to dial a 1-800 number from a motel phone in a very small town in the middle of Canada to get help from my insurance company under such tragic circumstances. With Tim and State Farm, I felt we were always supported and always had a reliable contact to help me or facilitate the complicated situation due to the severity of the accident and the fact that it was across borders. That day, I discovered I had very good insurance and an extraordinary insurance agent. After our experience, over the course of a year, I decided to purchase additional whole life as well as an umbrella policy. Tim was willing to sit down with me multiple times to go over several options and helped me to decide which policy and coverage was best. He never pushed, but listened to fully understand what our family needs are and extrapolated that into appropriate coverage. I can't recommend him and his office enough. read more

I moved my policy to DC this summer and contact them as my closest State Farm Rep. They were very kind and got me all set up, but missed some discounts that I was due that I always carried. Fine, no worries, just a little snag in the moving process. I updated my information with them and it was adjusted. The next week I received a "Coverage Selection Form" asking me to sign and return, which I did, in person, at the office. The next week I get an email with the same form, asking me to sign and return. Odd, I thought, but I signed it and once again, hand delivered. Three weeks later I get the same form and the same request. None of my emails have been responded to, and I don't know if they a) lost both forms I previously submitted b) just have no idea what's going on. Finally, I called a month ago to open a renter's insurance policy. After spending a rather confusing 1/2 hour on the phone I was told I by the rep that he "thought" I was set up with a new policy, but there was an issue and he would send email confirmation and follow up if there were any issues. I never received mail/email confirmation or a bill, and when I log on there is no record of the policy, though for some reason my auto policy is showing a multiple line discount. The reason I pay a premium for State Farm Insurance is to have a local representative that I trust. It is worth the money it to be able to call and have my questions answered by a real person down the street, not in some call center in another state. I've always had knowledgeable and efficient reps handle my accounts, so this is a first. I really love State Farm and will find another rep close to home, and hopefully the experience will be better. read more

I haven't been thrilled with the service from this office over the past several months. Or should I say the LACK of service. Number 1: they do not respond to emails most of the time. When they do, the woman who does the responding (Kristyn) is not pleasant or personable at all. It's been quite some time since I've dealt with Tim himself. Number 2: I had a fender bender last year and when I called, I was told I could not report it through Tim's office - I had to report the accident through the claim center. What is the point of even having a local representative then? As a previous reviewer noted, it seems like we should be receiving more personalized service from our neighborhood State Farm agent.... but that's not the case, not for me anyway. Number 3: After my fender bender, I received a surprise rate increase. No heads up, no explanation (like how long will I have to pay this? Why did this happen when I've never had an accident or ticket?). Maybe that is normal, but again, it would be nice to receive some personalized service. Number 4: I've been trying to make a change to my policy and cannot get anyone to help me with it! (A response to my email would be a start) So I will just vote with my feet, as they say. Next month I will be switching to someone else, as there is no reason to keep giving them my money and my business. read more

I recently moved to DC and was hoping to use this agency to set up my insurance. In trying to set up my insurance, it would take weeks and multiple phone calls to have my questions answered and my agent was completely unresponsive by email. The lack of responsiveness concerned me (especially if I were to ever have a claim) so I am moving on to a new agency. read more

Tim is wonderful! We unfortunate had an accident with a new car and his team handled everything and got our car in perfect shape ASAP. We had damage to our condo and our building's insurance covered it, but Tim still called us all the time to check on the progress and offer to help. This office is terrible. I worked with Brittany she unprofessional and very rude. In addition to her unpleasant attitude she was very slow and forgetful. Having purchased a new vehicle, I requested new cards. Brittany never sent an email with new cards or proof of coverage. After calling several times, I finally was able to have the email sent. Upon receiving the email, the Binder of Insurance was not signed. My temporary cards were never mailed and once available on 7/26 they expired on 7/21. This office is the most incompetent office from the agent himself to the horrible staff that works there as well. I had the customer service line generate a complaint and leave a message for the agent to return my call. I never received a returned call!!! I call the customer service line again (because no one is ever available in the office) and she advised that the message was received and checked. This office checked my messages and never even returned my call. The customer service line is useless and can only handle minor or menial issues. My recommendation would be to never work with the office. You're better off with online carriers because having an agent as horrible as this office is just as impersonal and difficult. read more
