Disappointing/criminal post sales experience with Tim Moran Chevrolet. I purchased a barely used car ~5000 mi from Tim Moran Chevrolet remotely and they charged me for things I didn't get (keys), replaced the mats the car was equipped with using worn mats (easily 50k mi wear from a different model car), delivered the car with no temp registration AND expired tags. They then proceeded to promise to make the issue right claiming they would be overnight sending me the key I paid for (Monday morning 3 weeks ago) and some sort of compensation for getting it programmed and cut, ordering me mats and having those shipped and NONE OF IT HAS HAPPENED. I've been dealing directly with the general manager and sales manager, named below which apparently means nothing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dealership! I thought it was important to share my experience with the Tim Moran Chevolet Dealership in Hemet. They are not transparent at all in their transactions and if not paying attention will try and slip in extra charges you never anticipated or discussed in the final paperwork. In this case it was over $1,000 for a "Paint Protection Treatment and Car Alarm System". Why would you put a paint sealant on a 10-year-old car! Now for a little more detail. I found a car in the Autotrader that I liked and decided to make the one hour drive to see it in person and buy it if it checked out. On arrival I was greeted by friendly staff and shown the car which I liked very much. The car was being sold for the advertised price plus tax and license which is standard and I did not have any issues with paying the asking price which I thought was fair. Let's face it, they have to make a living too! Even though I liked the car I had two issues with it, first was that it only came with one key and fob and the second was that it did not come with the standard charger cord which was standard equipment on these plug-in hybrids. I do feel that both items are important especially the second key just in case you lose the other one so you are not stranded! I also feel that when a dealer sells a car model that they originally sold new it should come with the included items given when the car was originally sold, these were not options! To cut to the chase, the dealership claimed that their cost, not the sales price of the key was $500.00 and the charger was $550.00 for a total of $1,050.00! (Kind of pricy for a key since I had a key and fob replaced on my Silverado 9 months ago for half that price and I paid retail at a dealership in Riverside). At that point the sales manager agreed that he would include one of the items I asked for at no charge but not both. I agreed to pay an additional $400.00 to make it right and we both agreed to $400 over the asking price plus tax and license which came out to approximately an amount we calculated together and agreed to and that I would then be writing a check for the complete out the door amount. The manager said he would put all the details on paper for my approval and we could finalize the deal. When he returned the price was significantly more and he explained that it was because he cannot just give away things for free and had to charge me for both the key/fob and charger. In addition, I noticed the extra charges for the paint protection and alarm system which I questioned and they explained that those were normal standard added items on their used cars. I worked with Megan to get my husband's truck and she was great, the formality was gone which I prefer, she was very casual and engaged in conversation other than the vehicle. When we got the truck we worked with Cole, their financial guy, and he was also very helpful, he even helped me explain my insurance needs to my agent while I was on the phone. Finally, once we were ready to take it home. There was a guy, I can't remember his name, but he was sweet and took a picture of my son and I in the new truck. My experience was not great with Ryan. When dropping off my vehicle as it was having issues i was never verbally advised of ANY diagnostic fees. Especially a fee of $478. But they know how to get you with "just need a quick signature here and you're all set" . As a service advisor i think it's important to be up front and honest, especially disclosing costs to the customers. A fee was not advised of until i declined repairs of $4k. As a service ADVISOR it should be advised before leaving your vehicle to determine if you are ok with that price if not included through warranty. When questioning why i wasn't advised i was told there is always a diagnostic fee of $239 for EACH concern. Why wasn't i made aware of this and why am i just being told now after the fact? When dropping off your vehicle beware of their fees because they won't VERBALLY disclose them to you. and know each of your concerns cost $239 off the bat. read more
