Cute and Quirky! The staff was super responsive and the rooms were nice. It was a contactless check in process; they text you your entrance code. There's a parking lot right by the rooms so you can park right in front of your door. Traveled solo for work and felt pretty safe :) would recommend! read more

Not starting off well. I went at 11:15 during the week and the site said they opened at 11. When I arrived they had a sign up "closed today". Then on Friday we called to see about a reservation and they said they were all booked. How do I get into this exclusive club?? . Won't be back till June 2024. I am give the 5 stars as this place is the best restaurant we have, we have been here 3 times and all 3 times I have had the fish and every time has been amazing, my friend tried the fish & chips small portion but very good, my friend had a pasta dish...they mess up his order but he just ate it anyway. I've been coming to Almanor for over 30 years and have never stopped at the Timber Lodge. On our way into town, we decided to stop for a late lunch, and I'm so glad we did. I love how they remodeled the restaurant and the lodge. The food was delicious. We tried the vodka they distilled, and it was a great decision. 5 stars for the work that has been done to remodel, upgrade and update the property, and for the tasty tacos and ginormous wedge salad. We will definitely be back. Ambiance was spot on Disappointments: The pizza oven outside was the reason we stopped to eat here. "NO" pizza is not served inside which is where we sat. SMH The Tacos: 2 come on the plate with a choice of 4 (?) different meats. "Can we do a combo?" "NO". SMH Wedge salad said balsamic drizzle.... Nope, no balsamic drizzle and a little too much blue cheese dressing for me... Service was a little lacking but tolerable... Regardless we will be back... food was good, as was the decor....great job on restoring this property!!!!!!! Love it!!!!! read more

Chester needed a great place like this. The owners did a beautiful job keeping the historical elements of the original restaurant but modernized it perfectly inside with more fun outdoor elements like a beautiful patio and lawn games, plus the very cool brewery building. The food was fantastic! Highlights were the cheese curds, pretzel bites, pulled pork sandwich but our favorite was the Eruption Volcano fries. The beer was great and so were the cocktails with their house made Timber vodka and monkey face gin. Shawna was our waitress and we couldn't have had better service. Went around 6pm Open tables outside, inside and at bar. When we requested a table the host looked around and then asked if we had a reservation and we said no. She then proceded to leave the host area and went back to the kitchen. She came back and said it would be 45 minute wait. I questioned why and she said we did not have reservation. Just weird with open tables inside and outside. Decided it was not worth the wait and we found a great resturant right down the street, Bing's. Great atmosphere, all locals, and food was fabulous and priced right. read more

Went today for the first time since it reopened and everything was great. My husband had the fish & chips and loved it. I had the ceaser salad with chicken and it was perfect. Enough chicken for a bit it every bite. My son had the cheeseburger that looked great. I'm getting that next time! Sophie was our server and she was very attentive and accommodating. Great shower. Plenty of hooks to hang your stuff. Modern heating/AC unit. THE BAD - No sheer curtains. You either get no outside natural light with the curtains drawn, or no privacy with the curtains parted. - Glacially slow wifi (4Mbps, this is unusable). For $180 meal for three people I sure expected better than what we got. New York steaks served with "Demi Glacé" ok I expected it to be on the potatoes NOT poured all over the grilled steak. Typically a Demi Glacé is poured on the meat if it's served precut like chateaubriand . If it was a real Demi Glacé it may have been ok, but this was just some bad bland canned brown gravy poured all over a good steak. Sauce was either canned or powdered either way it definitely WAS NOT homemade. Cocktails were ok. Apps were good. Pulled pork tacos....store bought meat with sauce. Definitely NOT smoked in house. Better off at kopper kettle at least no surprises there. read more

We've been here about 6 times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. My favorites are the fish and chips, pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, hamburger and steak tips. The fried pickles are great too. Service has always been great even though they are swamped most nights. Marrisa was our server the last time there and after letting her know that our fries could be warmer, she promptly brought us new fries. Drinks are very good, no skimping on alcohol here. Finally tried Timber house brewery. We tried the fish and chips and a wedge salad. The salad was great with a generous amount of blue cheese and baby tomatoes on the sides. The bacon bits seemed like they were not made in house and had some pieces with that hard, bagged version kind of texture. The fish and chips were good. Fish was flat, frozen cutlet shape, but cooked nicely. The fries were delicious and had a nice bit of garlic and paprika on them. The beers were just ok. We tried the barrel aged porter and the hazy IPA. The IPA was super grapefruity. The porter had a bit of a bitter edge you don't expect with a porter. Overall, we would go back. Made reservations for 7:45 on a Monday night. We ordered drinks and then It took about 25 minutes to place our food order. After we received our initial drinks, It was 9pm until our waitress came back to us to check on us and ask if we needed anything else to drink. I think this place has the potential to be great! I've been twice, once over Memorial Day, which they had a specialty cocktail (AMAZING) and once recently. I understand the place is pretty new and they are still trying to sort a few things out. All the food I have had has been great, the curds, green beans, fries, burgers, and at one point they had Brussels. I came recent around 4pm and was told they are only doing happy hour menu because the kitchen was closed til 5. Bummer, suggestion- maybe update hours to reflect this? Burger was so bland and boring. The buns are just gross. Bun goes all around for sandos and burgers. Bun was cold with hot food. Or rather, luke warm food. Not good. Who made these food recipes? Fries were decent. Sweet potatoes fries no bueno and overdone. Bland too. Service...your servers don't even know the menu....is it an Almond Burger because it's not meat?, because if so, the taste makes more sense. Bland. Cheese wasn't even melted. THEN!!! We even said the food was not great at all. To two people. Mind you, we only asked for water...and we're asked if we wanted anything else to drink....but not asked anything else when we had our items until the end so it's not as though we could give our honest opinion then. I am not sure why this place doesn't show up when searching restaurants in Chester. We came last night and tonight- nothing else was open! Their food is amazing! Last night we had the steak tips and mushrooms as an appetizer, then steaks, and linguine and prawns. Super delicious! Tonight it was fish tacos and a hamburger. Beer is crisp and refreshing.
