So delicious! We got the chicken shawarma and ribeye kebabs and both were amazing. The chicken was very flavorful ~ savory with a slight sweet pop and the ribeye was so tender and flavorful. The ribeye really impressed me. We came around 8pm on a Saturday and they were sold out of a few things including rice pilaf so they substituted that with fries instead. Very cute spot in Chester with some indoor and outdoor seating. Felt family owned and they were very nice! read more

We never repeat same place to eat when we are traveling in order to give a chance to the local restaurants. However, this place was so amazing that we have to come here twice before we left the town. The chef is amazing and sweet. Our servers were polite and brought food on time. The food was full of flavors. We tried their chicken shawarma and Turkish chai. Everything was perfect and delicious. A lot of sitting place Outside and Inside. Note: It can be a little hot inside the restaurant as it on the opposite direction of the sun. This will be our go to place if we are passing through this town. read more

There are only a few times in my life I've felt the need to write a review. The food is expertly cooked. The first bite tells you this is traditional family cooking. The staff is awesome, professional, they care about their craft and do a great job at it. The atmosphere reflects a traditional Mediterranean restaurant, very comfortable and inviting. Aslan Mediterranean Restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. Very small place, simple, cozy, and clearly focused on home-style cooking rather than trying to be trendy or fancy. We had the falafels and the chicken shawarma, and both were absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The Turkish tea was also excellent and honestly completed the whole experience perfectly. For dessert, we tried the pistachio cake, which was actually more like a cheesecake. It was good, just not exactly what we were expecting. I probably would have chosen another dessert, but they did not have the one I originally wanted available at the moment. Still, it was enjoyable enough to finish every bite, which says something. We had the chance to talk a little with the owners, who are from Turkey, and they were incredibly humble and friendly people. You could really feel the warmth and authenticity behind the food and the atmosphere. Also, this place is clearly popular with locals. There was a steady flow of people coming in for takeout the entire time we were there, which is usually a very good sign. For a small town like Chester, this restaurant feels like a hidden gem and a really refreshing change from the usual options around the area. Definitely worth stopping by if you are passing through town or visiting nearby nature spots. Fresh food, kind people, and really comforting flavors. We would absolutely come back. read more

The food here is out of this world. When they first opened i thought it was too "foreign" for many locals. I was wrong. There was a line outside. It's inexpensive, very delicious, and served with kindness. My favorite is the falafel wrap. Try it for a great experience. read more

Fabulous! Tasty, prepared fresh, friendly owner and servers. Had hummus, baba, cucumber (like raita), and a Turkish tabbouleh. Entrees were chicken kabob, beef Kafka, and falafel platter. Got there around 815 and sat outside. Every table was taken on a Weds night and they did a busy take out business as well. Cute location, enjoyed sitting outside. Stop. Drop what you're doing and get your a** to Aslan's for THE juiciest chicken kebabs I've ever eaten in my life! Honestly everything was delicious, but the standouts for me were the tzatziki dip and chicken kebabs. I've had my fair share of Mediterranean food and I can genuinely say that Aslan's makes the juiciest chicken kebabs I've ever had. The inside of the store is really cute and homey. There's also a good amount of outdoor seating too! Service was prompt and the staff there are lovely :) always made sure our water was filled! I'm not exaggerating when I say I would make the 4 hour drive from sf just to eat here again. Excited to come back soon and try some of their other dishes! read more

Very good quality food. All the produce in the salads were fresh; the chicken for the shawarma was perfectly marinated and grilled; the flavors in the soup were wonderfully complex; cheeses were perfect - as was the service. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean near a beautiful mountain lake, this is the spot. We had dinner in the open air seating on a WONDERFUL summer evening as the stars came out, so the food and the ambiance combined for an outstanding experience. A family owned traditional Mediterranean restaurant that was an absolutely delightful experience! My husband ordered the Beef Shawerma, and I ordered the Karniyarik, which is similar to a stuffed bell pepper but even better. Both dishes were so savory, adorned with a symphony of flavors and spices. Both entrees were served with hummus, rice pilaf and pita bread. We also ordered the falafel appetizer, that was served with a salad. The hot tea was strong and served traditionally perfect for a rainy evening in May, and they had assorted desserts although we didn't have the opportunity to try them all. Which gives us another reason to come back! The service was extremely attentive and appreciated. This restaurant is located in Chester, CA where not a lot of authentic genres of food are at your fingertips so, I applaud this family for embarking on this journey to serve the community and share their love of food and people. We got takeout for our large group of 15 and I'm glad we did because I think we would have taken most or all of the tables inside. Everyone loved their food - raved about how good it was - and a couple dietary restrictions were also met, which was great. We will definitely return next time we're in town. read more

OKay folks -- this is Chester, CA. It is small... when I say small it is SMALL... so if you expect to be able to grab dinner after 8 PM think again. You may be able to get a TV Dinner (as we did) at the Holiday Market but other than that you need to plan. However, I loved that Chester has expanded and included some other ethnic foods. Enter Aslan's grill -- if you like Mediterranean food you will like this place! I think it may be a gas station that was remodeled. It is NICE inside but not luxury and not a normal "restaurant size". I imagine they have a lot of take out here though. Mediterranean food travels well. The inside was clean -- I heard the bathroom was large and very clean but I did not see it myself. We were seated right away and the location was clean and inviting. The employees here were super nice and welcoming for sure. I brought menus to the table because I wasn't sure if we were supposed to order at the register but they do believe in service here. So they came and took our order. We tried to order Chicken Kabobs because I like white meat Chicken. They were out -- the server explained they had been extremely busy that day. I got Kofta Kabob instead and dad got Beef Kabob (steak). Mom got a Chicken Schewarma wrap that she loved. The food was ALL good. I haven't had Kofta before and it is basically ground beef but it was good particularly when I dunked it in cucumber dip. The food was good and average Mediterranean food -- so again if you like that you will like this place. The hummus and pita were good... average and good. I don't like rice but the family thought it was pretty good. The steak had GREAT flavor. We also got Baklava because my father loves it. He ... well... he loved it! HA HA What got this location 4 stars was the genuine service and great family vibe. When we left my mom has a cane and because of a snow berm she took a fall. I was able to get her up quickly. Dad had a walker though and one of (presumably) the owners came out and helped me walk him to the car. We thought we could just handle it but man I appreciated the help. Such a great addition to Chester! We have a little cabin in Mineral and come into Chester often to shop or grab a bite to eat. I don't know how we've missed Aslan's (I think they have been there for a year) but I am so glad we found it! We dropped in for lunch recently and shared several plates including the chicken kabobs, a greek salad, and the cucumber yogurt dip (Tzatziki) with pita. We had to have dessert as well of course because they were calling to us from the case as we had lunch! Everything was delicious and fresh. You can tell that the owners put a lot of love into their food. The restaurant itself is light, airy, and warm. We will definitely be coming back and telling everyone we know! read more

We thought we'd grab a wrap to go, but the ambiance, aromas and friendly welcome was everything to switch our plans up and stay for a relaxing meal. TLDR: Wow! What a wonderful surprise. Incredible taste, friendly staff. So glad to have stopped and tried this place. It can be difficult to find meals that don't use sugar and reduce carbs (current dietary restrictions), but Aslan's was able to accommodate, and everything was so delicious! A great day to sit outside with the doggo too. The Beef Shawarma and Chicken Kabobs we very good. We were able to replace the carbs with Baba Ganoush. The tzatziki paired so well with the meats. Portions were very large, so we were able to take some home for lunch the next day--although it was challenging to stop eating. Service was excellent. They were very patient to help me through ordering with such a restrictive diet. Was visiting the area for a few days and definitely would return next time I'm in the area. read more

Another trip to one of the NEW restaurants in Chester. One can't deny that their food is delicious. However, the changes that they are making may be their downfall! When they opened they were happy, friendly and generous. Well, that's changed! Prices have escalated, portions seem to be half! And friendliness is minimal! Their new restaurant on the peninsula is overpriced and the welcoming atmosphere is absent. SO SAD! We were so excited for them to succeed. Too pricey for us!! read more

Visiting Chester, CA. It's always a mystery as to what's available and open. Today was a big surprise for us to find Asian's Mediterranean Grill open and parking available. Greeted upon arriving, I noticed other patrons seated with huge plates at their table. The aromas were pleasant as the restaurant is kind of small and the kitchen is nearby. The owner came over and assisted us with the menu and helped with our experience. The food is excellent and plentiful. Next time we may just mix up the ordering to enjoy more of the different types of dishes. Oh, and by the way, on the other side of Lake Almanor sits a sister restaurant owned by the same family "Hudi" We may do lunch there tomorrow. read more
