If you are a fan of porters, then pull up a chair at Secret Trail Brewing because they've got quite the lineup and you're going to enjoy it. After finishing an awesome backpacking trip near Red Bluff I was craving a cold beer. For some reason breweries in Red Bluff don't like to be open on Sunday so we drove south to Chico and jumped right in on a pair of flights. This is Baltic porter paradise! Seriously, there were around 5 on the menu when I stopped in. Everything I tried was tasty but the darks are the standout here and I am all about it. Especially when they put it on Nitro. Easy decision. Raspberry Choconut Baltic Porter? You don't have to even ask me - I'm there. The place is dog-friendly inside and out, has a huge patio area, and even had good live music! Remember what live music sounds like? Exactly. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Huge plus in my book. Bonus for the Gnarly Deli food truck set up out front with a solid vegan sammy option. I will most definitely be back. If they brew stouts as well as their Baltic porters I may never leave.

Tasty beers in a nice space. Handy food truck on site. Reasonably priced swag. We'll definitely be back.

We came here while visiting friends in Chico, & this place was a hit! We stumbled upon the five year anniversary celebration for the brewery, so we bought a tumbler plus a pour for $20. On this day, there were lots of dogs & kids, fun for the whole family. There were two open tap rooms in the same building from which you could purchase your brews, but my friend who comes often said that typically, only one is open. There was live music, a clown with balloons for the kids, lots of outdoor seating, food trucks, etc. I got the Apricot Wheat ale which was very juicy & light. My bf got the Vienna Lager (I don't remember the name) which was refreshing & had a light taste as well. All in all, the gentleman who poured our drinks had good recommendations & was kind. Super good experience & I would definitely return!

We were introduced to the Secret Trail Brewing Co by my nephew Zach. He's always telling us how good their beer is, even bringing growlers over for family get togethers. We came to the taproom after building it up and it did not disappoint! We absolutely love Hazy IPAS's and they have a Hazy Trail IPA that is very refreshing and delicious. The Bout it!, Bout It! is a delicious Northeast Double IPA that is smooth yet 8.3% ABV. Nice taproom, delicious beers, variety in beer styles, friendly staff, food truck options - lots of reasons to check out Secret Trail Brewing in Chico.

Loved the environment the brewery had. The owners were even here themselves ! You can really tell this place gets busy when you arrive at opening and there's already a bunch of others enjoying some fresh beers we ordered flights and boy were they refreshing ! We tried Bout it bout it , triple berry bomb was my wife's favorite happy wife and juicy down under which was so good if your looking for a spot to enjoy some fresh beer and have some food trucks arrive to give you and your family the best experience, then come on down ! You might even get lucky and watch the owner brew a batch through the glass windows

Love this little off the beaten path brewery. The beer choices are great. From a double IPA to a lager. I did the beer flight of IPA's and I had to admit I enjoyed all my selections. They are 4oz pours which is a perfect amount. Food trucks rotate so you are able to purchase food. I highly recommend this brewery when visiting Chico

We absolutely love secret trail under normal circumstances but recently used their back room for our baby shower. Michelle was very easy to communicate with and accommodating. We were able to have our favorite bar tender and bring in whatever food worked for us. Everyone had a great time. Highly recommend.

Secret Trail Brewing Company 132 Meyers St, Ste 120, Chico, CA 95928 February 7, 2020 Friday - 8PM for a beer 2 Adults Atmosphere - 4 stars Drinks - 5 stars Service - 4 stars Background - Just drove in from Reno via CA 70 and 99 and it was a long drive. Time to relax with a beer. Atmosphere - Located at the end of an industrial building. Some outdoor seating with overhead space heaters that where running on this chilly night. The big garage door was open and the bar was cold, to the point it was uncomfortable inside. As we left I felt the temp at the picnic tables was warmer than inside because of the space heaters. The place is small and holds less than 100 people inside, Drinks - I had a pint of their hazy IPA on tap, Greengate. A nice juicy IPA with a little bite of tartness at the end. I really enjoyed the beer. They have a wide variety of beers, hopefully you can find one you like. Service - Outside of the line for the register and one person working the bar when we arrive the service was good. Another bar tender arrived and the time started to move. They could add some more choices for people that have issues with gluten, perhaps some ciders. Future - Yes I could come back and try some more beers.

One thing I like to do when traveling is fine local breweries. I had looked this up long before my trip and was definitely excited to check him out. I did a flight of four beers Which I highly enjoyed. My most favorite was the peanut butter porter. They also have growlers and howlers for sale and I picked up a howler which was easy to travel home with. One of the cool things about this place is they have a different food truck every single day. I didn't check the one out that was there when I was there but I just thought it was cool that they always have a food option. Also they are a dog friendly brewery which I think is great and they also have trivia night. They even have live music some nights. This was a small space but I definitely enjoyed it. If I return for another visit to Chico I will definitely check this place out again.

We took some friends here on Saturday night and enjoyed multiple flights of beers. This is the best way to go as you can try multiple tastings before deciding on your pint. The people behind the bar were incredibly friendly, polite, and efficient. The place was clean, including the bathroom. The particular food truck that was there had ran out of pizzas and other products, which was kind of disappointing as it was early in the evening. But I can't really hold that against the brewing as they are not really connected. We will certainly return.

Ask the Community - Secret Trail Brewing Company

Are there any gluten free options (cider, wine)?

Are they filling outside (non-branded) growlers?

They filled mine without an issue. Might want to call them just to be sure.

We were easy - same exact dish and drinks for us both and she recommended the steak skewer with our salad. We had the Mexican themed salad that had roasted corn in it and I died and went to heaven eating that salad. The lime dressing was sooo good. The meat was so tender and tasty. No gristle!!!! I was fully expecting some but it was perfect meat. Well flavored and perfectly cooked. Not only did our server give us the best advice, she also sent us out the door with a refill of iced tea. In this heat, that is so kind. She probably saved me from dehydration!! We had the nicest drive back to the Bay Area. We talked about coming back with our manly men. They would love this place. Chico is just as nice and less expensive than the Bay Area. I recommend visiting this lovely restaurant and brewery. I would have had the beer but I can't mix alcohol and heat that I'm not used to. So... in the immortal words of the Terminator, "I'll be back!" I am so embarrassed! I forgot to take pictures!!!! I was that bowled over!

I also admire their focus on sustainability, their seasonal menu, as well as their local partnerships. A combination of upscale but affordable and perfect for a date night. The copper accents are beautiful and the seating was comfortable. Unfortunately, it was super busy so I would recommend sitting outside for a more romantic and private ambience. My blackened salmon tacos were delicious and we cleaned off the plate within a handful of minutes. I really loved the pickled onions on the side and the crispy outside layer of the salmon pieces. Shout out to our server, kaylee for giving us as much attention as she could, despite the business!

Stopped by on way to Chico during a recent visit on a day they were closed. I placed an online order for pickup only to realize when I arrived that the brewery location is closed for much of the week. On me for the error. I've made that mistake previously and dealt with employees who just ignored me and those that chose to acknowledge me that I needed to come back when they were open. The staff here now only acknowledged me, they went the extra mile to alleviate the error. Service was beyond great and they made me feel valued. I visited the Chico taproom/restaurant location and the product matches the service level. I tried one of the infused (peach) beers and it was very well balanced and easy to drink on the hot day. Hard to brew a simple lager that does not have any "off tastes". They seemed to figured out how to do it. Breweries that are struggling can take note from Farmer's. Lots of great beers and instead of trying to become viral with some crazy Quadruple Hazy Hybrid Pastery Barrel Aged Sour concoction, treat your customer well and make a good clean beer and you'll be successful like I think Farmer's will be/continue to be. If you are in the area, worth the visit as you'll see what craft breweries used to be like before it became overly commercialized.
