Stopped in for a Chai Latte and muffin - both were delish! I'd definitely come by again.

Great little spot for breakfast in Speculator. Short walk from the public beach. Parking out front and in back of restaurant. We had one of their egg sandwiches and a "toad in the hole". Busy little cafe. I saw a beautiful Red Velvet Cake get picked up with Happy Birthday Iced on top. I saw Cinnamon Rolls with or without icing. I saw Raspberry Scones that made my mouth water. I had a mushroom egg Ciabatta sandwich (Snowy Mountain) that was so good I forgot about all the sweets. They made my Dirty Chai Latte just the way I like it. The food and drinks are made to order. Everything is fresh. Only three tables inside but there is plenty of seating outside.

I ordered a black bean wrap because they were out of other sandwiches. I think they were also out of black bean salad because my black bean wrap was the skimpiest wrap I've ever been served. Oh well the ham and Brie was good but skip the meatless stuff.... Very lame! read more

A real find in the middle of the North country. Open for breakfast and lunch, and on Saturday you can have breakfast anytime, or lunch. Everything is homemade, with a wonderful selection of soup salad and sandwiches, and all your favorite breakfast items. There are many home-baked selections of tempting goodies, and a full service coffee bar. A favorite for locals, and in the winter for snowmobilers. Just a great spot for a quick bite. read more

You might be tempted to drive right past this place but it's well worth the stop. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The ADK BLT is by far the best BLT I've ever eaten. It's my go to sandwich and I've sample a lot of them but this is now my favorite. There's a sweetness to it that I wasn't expecting but really worked for me. Like other reviewers I also recommend the iced Adirondack latte. It's like drinking Bryers coffee ice cream. read more

I was in Speculator, picking my niece up from summer camp and really didn't want to wait to eat. The food choices in small towns in the Adirondacks can be disappointing but I found the Timberline on yelp and decided to try it. The ordering and paying part of the meal was a little confusing, maybe big signs with "Order food here" "Pay here" might be more helpful. I got the Blue Mountain, my sister got the Snowy and my niece got French toast. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. This may be the place we stop when heading through the area. read more

Ate there for the first time today and really liked the BLT. An excellent example of the category with candied bacon (tastes like it was brushed with maple syrup after cooking) and sweet mayo and a good balance of lettuce, tomato and bread. Also had the beef sandwich (I think it's called the High Peaks?) which was OK. The beef would have been a lot better if it was not pre-sliced. This is an oddly configured place that used to be a Chinese take-out restaurant. You stand in line to order at a window into the small kitchen, then move to the next room and stand in line to pay and order a beverage. One line would be better. The bigger issue was that at noon on a Saturday they were out of about half their menu. (And even if they weren't, French toast and pancake service stops at noon because of the limited space on the grill.) This is definitely better food than we're used to in Speculator, but the weekend crowds and out-of-stocks kept it from being a satisfactory dining experience. I'll return on a less-busy day to try other items when they're available and would love to add a star. read more

We had left Whiteface Mountain, heading to Cazenovia and decided to take the back roads. That meant we didn't see anything until Speculator! Once we were able to get data, we did a quick Yelp and this came up as the best place for lunch in town. Got there and loved the free wifi sign. Ordered French toast for my son, a salad for me and a meatball sandwich for my husband. I also ordered an Adirondack latte which was amazing!! Lunches came out and they were just as great as the latte. Service was awesome & friendly, too! We'll stop there again if we ever find ourselves driving the back roads...! read more

Stopped by at 9:15am on a Wednesday. It was closed So either they have gone out of business or the hours posted on Yelp are in accurate. There was no sign on the door indicating hours or temporary closure. read more

My family randomly popped in to the Timberline Café when our usual roadtrip bathroom stop at the fire station was closed for construction. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the bright and inviting atmosphere. We were immediately and warmly greeted and the menu was compelling enough for us to decide it was lunchtime. With plenty of tempting breakfast and lunch options, everyone was satisfied with our meals, and the service exceeded expectations. We'll be sure to stop again when passing through! read more

The cinnamon roll is huge and soft and to die for as well. Breakfast sandwiches were good, but those of us that got them wishes we had gotten the cinnamon roll or pancakes once we tried them. With not a lot of food options in the area, this was a welcomed option! Coffee was good. Together, we purchased a breakfast sandwich and the french toast. The french toast was VERY good. The baked goods looked good but we were trying not to overeat. I do agree that the set-up is a little confusing. You walk up to the window and order. Then you either get coffee yourself (if you're just getting regular coffee) but if anything else is being ordered, you need to ask for it from behind the counter. You can pay then or later. You can sit inside or outside---they will bring the food to you. We wanted to go back the morning we were leaving but unfortunately they weren't open yet. read more

An unexpected delight ! After trolling the adarondacks for yard sales we stopped here for a bite. The exterior doesn't do this lovely place justice. Clean bright with friendly service. You can just look at your plate and tell it's all made from scratch, tasting the food was yummy, absolutely delish. Simple food with a touch that you might not expect here the woods so to speak. Rather disappointed in their cinnamon roll and pumpkin scone. Both tasted kind of flat and lacking butter and salt, imho. The cinnamon roll was dry. The scone was just not quite right somehow. Really looked forward to their baked goods based on the good reviews but they didn't live up to it. However, i did not try their regular menu, so maybe their breakfast & sandwiches etc. are much better. read more

Although the place had great baking aromas and the food I ordered was nice, there was something that really bothered me. On the blackboard it said that you could order real maple syrup for $ 1.5 - my question to the owners - if you're already serving real maple syrup - why even consider offering a cheap and nasty maple syrup replacement? It's like going to a pizza shop, where there is a choice between pizza with real cheese and pizza with fake cheese! Why is fake maple syrup the norm? Why not raise the price of your pancakes and serve them only with real maple syrup? read more

I had oatmeal here this morning. The food was great and served well, I really appreciated that. However, the food can be the best I've ever had but without good customer service, it will leave a bad taste in my mouth. I am a 20-something male from the Midwest visiting NY for a family funeral this weekend. I have been told New Yorkers "can be rude" and that they may ignore customers that aren't the one(s) footing the bill - however, that is no reason to ignore a perfectly polite individual. My Grandparents paid the bill today and on the way out I looked at our server and said "thank you, have a good one." She made eye contact and ignored me. I really didn't appreciate that, regardless of "NY culture." I expect better if I return in the future. read more

The timberline cafe is a small cosy country cafe/bakery that has amazing drinks, bake good and breakfast. The drink selection is unbelievable, they have a large rang of coffee and non-coffee drinks. I tried 4 different drinks and they were all out of this world. They have awesome cookies as well. I ordered the pancakes for breakfast and they were very good. If you are camping near by this is an amazing place to get high quality coffee and food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

I just had a $9 dollar egg sandwich and it was average at best. I can't figure out what it is but the demeanor of the employees/owners bothers me. It's like you do all the work and they are annoyed that you are asking them to make your overpriced food. Place was jamming while we there. They need to reorganize the whole restaurant. You order your food at one spot then order your drinks while you pay as you are bumped into by every person on their way to the one hitter bathroom. If you are able to, sit outside. If you sit inside and there is anyone else there prepare to have an annoying meal. Not a a lot of space and poorly used. Their coffee drinks look good but didn't have one. It's gotta be one of the few places to eat around there because it sucks too much to be as busy as it was. I d say adjust your prices and change the setup but they seem to have no problem getting people in there. read more

Last year when I worked at camp-of-the-woods I would go to timberline every tuesday on my day off for lunch. I can truly say that the menu is fantastic and would highly recommend everything on it (because I almost tried everything haha). Their baked goods are wonderful as well! Especially the pies. I also really enjoyed the small but warm atmosphere and Whitney and the rest of the staff were always super friendly. If you're in speculator, this is honestly the best place to eat, hands down. Im sure Timberline will just continue to get better over time. read more
