I am back again, this time for breakfast which always has me excited. The warm friendly and welcoming vibe here is consistent and the food is outstanding. I ordered a breakfast sammy, Mimi's reuben, a side of potato salad, and a large love-a-cado salad with balsamic dressing. It still blows my mind that everything served here is vegan as it is so so delish. Lastly I decided spur of the moment to grab a few of their baked goodies to go. To be honest I have never been tempted to try their sweets as it appears ordinary and not very moist looking. Boy was I so so wrong. The cookies, the cinnamon bun etc were all so so yummy. I spend a lot of weekends up in the Glens Falls/Queensbury area and the last time I went up it happened to be National Matcha Day! I had time before my cousin's wedding was starting so decided to walk from the hotel to this bakery we found. Definitely a cute space, tucked away a little bit but wasn't too hard to find. Rock Hill has a ton of gluten free and vegan options, and a stocked fridge as well! There was a bit of seating but we just did a grab and go. What a delicious bakery! I stopped in while in the area and was immediately excited to try their products as soon as I saw the bakery case. I ordered the kid's Almond Butter & Jelly, which came with a drink and side item. I opted for a carbonated tea and side of cookie dough (!!), which was awesome. The sandwich as served warm and oh my goodness was is good! Their bread is phenomenal. I got the raisin loaf and a blueberry muffin to go. Both of them were delicious! Overall, the service was fast and friendly and the cafe was a homey place to sit and eat. Several people were working on their laptops too. We absolutely love this place. Come watch them make bread while they prepare an incredible vegan sandwich or Pakistani food. Yes you read that right. What a great eclectic bunch of delicious offerings. Their biscotti and baked goods are not to be missed either. My favorite is the Life By Chocolate cookie that's loaded with chocolate chips and nuts. Their soups are great too and a lot of their food is available for grab and go in their refrigerator for when you just don't feel like cooking. Decent gluten free offerings too. Grab a book, play the piano, enjoy a bite to eat. This spot reminds me of Burlington VT or Olympia WA with its chill boho vibe. Bring your non vegan friends to try their food and they'll be happy too. Be sure to bring a few loaves of bread home for the freezer, it's sooo good. I can't recommended Rock Hill enough. On a trip to Vermont, they fortunately came up in an area search as I was looking for a late lunch spot. We had a delicious meal at the cafe. My Thai curry green pea soup was excellent - so much flavor and just the right amount of spice. I am going to be dreaming about that soup. It came with a slice of both Farm and Pumpernickel toast. My husband had the French toast which was made with the cinnamon raisin bread. Amazing & so tasty. I've gotten the bread from them (at the grocery store) since I moved here a few years ago and I've loved every single loaf. However, today I went into the cafe itself for the first time and I'm so glad I did. They had only a few loaves left and the girl at the counter helped me find the closest one to what I usually get and she was the sweetest person ever. Rock Hill Bakehouse is always a 10/10 for me. It's so good I find myself making up reasons to travel to NY from VT to stop there! lol. Where else can you order Pakistani dal and a bacon grilled cheese -- and also expect that they will both be delicious? There's certainly nowhere else you can order a small mound of cookie dough as a sandwich side and not be looked at strangely. The cafe has been open for some time now in its current location since relocating from the downtown area near the hospital. It is definitely a large bakery with huge ovens churning out several varieties of bread loaves. The cafe was relatively quiet on Saturday when we entered but by the time we left there were barely enough open tables for guests who were just walking in. Order at the counter of find a table and scan the QR code. A server will bring your beverages and food orders directly to the table. We ordered two lattes, mine was a Tumeric latte with oatmilk and it was very good. We share the 3 bean chili and each ordered a sandwich. My reuben was delicious and with the chili I had to pack up the second half and the bag of Saratoga brand potato chips. My wife got the Grown-Up which was a Bakon, cheez and pesto sandwich with a side of potato salad. Other sides include pickle or chocolate chip cookie dough which was interesting. I saw a table close by get their meal with the pickle side and it looked like a full size deli pickle cut into a pile spears. My wife packed up the other half of her sandwich as well and I went back to the counter to order a Baked Cookie to go from the selection of fresh pastries and baked goods. Standing at the counter, I noted a sign that read something about paying what you could for bread. The bread prices were somewhere around $7 per loaf but the sign said if you couldn't afford full price to pay what you could and if you still had no money but needed the bread then it would be free to you. There are items for purchase in the frozen cooler and refrigerated cooler. The staff seemed very busy but were very friendly. Inreally enjoyed my reuben but my wife's sandwich was flavorful only with pesto, the bakon and cheese flavor was overpowered by the pesto so it was a bit disappointing. Perhaps next time she order something different. It was a good experience and we enjoyed the coffee house atmosphere. There are books for reading, games for playing, and the walls are adorned with art by local artist selling their work. read more

I was only in town for 2 days and came here twice, that's how good the food is! I highly recommend ANYTHING that is served with bread because all their breads are baked in house and absolutely delicious. Everything is vegan which I love and the space is so cozy and welcoming. I was a little skeptical at first because the outside is very warehouse-y but once you go in you feel right at home. I tried their "berger," the breakfast sandwich, the apple danish, and the currant scone. The breakfast sandwich was definitely my favorite because the bread they used was so so good. I wish I would've ordered a loaf to go but didn't think to do so. They are also pretty quick with service both for staying in & taking out. If you eat at the table you can either order up front or scan the code at the table and order/pay through that. Wish I didn't live so far because this definitely would be my go-to spot! read more

I left this review for Rock Hard, oops, Rock Hill bakery on 3/25/25. I received a lame response that was not directed to the complaint and instead implied disparagement of my ability to recognize good bread. It would have been so much better had the owner just apologized, owned the mistake, and encouraged me to give the bakery another chance. He apparently felt that saying that perhaps I am not fit to judge bread, or do not know what good bread should be (at 75 I most certainly do know) was the better choice. See my reply to his criticism below. Review: Service and "ambiance" if a bakery can actually HAVE ambiance, were fine. Bread (Italian, round loaf, from behind the counter) was disgusting. Hard, dry, stale. Toasting did not improve it. French toast barely made it palatable. Huge disappointment, real bummer after a 45 minute trip to get there. I have had better day old bread from other bakeries far better than this allegedly fresh bread. Avoid at all costs - can you imagine paying 14 bucks for a grilled cheese sandwich (not even real cheese, some kind of oddball plant cheese) and having the bread be so stale as to be hard?? Reply to owner's comment: "re: my 1 star review regarding Rock Hard Rock Hill Bread Charming that you think deflecting actually answers the complaint by bad-mouthing, although accurately, mass market low end commercial bread. I rarely eat mass market bread, with Trader Joe's being about as far in that direction that I will go. I have to say, this place served up probably THE best vegan Reuben sandwich! We also ordered the Granny Smith sandwich. The Granny Smith was the most amazing combination of flavors that I never would have thought to combine. I've been craving this sandwich ever since. The sandwiches were grilled to perfection.. with the perfect amount of toast crunchiness. They make their own bread, and it's incredible. After having the sandwiches, we bought a loaf of their bread to take home. Now.. for the atmosphere. I don't know what it is about this place, but it exudes calm. I just felt happy, and warm and "toasty" at the Rock Hill Bakehouse. Adding to the calm, was the most amazing person working the counter. This is a hidden gem in Glens Falls. All Vegan ...and many gluten free menu options. A total place holder! If you want a sweet treat ...try the GF Vegan ...Linzer...Oat Raisin Cookies... or the Oat Chip Cookies...all great choices. Ok, even for a breakfast treat- the oat cookies will do...lol.
