We visited 9 Mile Coffee in Schroon Lake the day before Thanksgiving and it was perfect. The service was warm and friendly, and the shop has such a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We grabbed bagels and fresh orange juice to have for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning, and everything was absolutely delicious. The bagels were fresh, and the orange juice was so bright and refreshing. It looks like they do a good business here. It is a pretty good sized place with lounge furniture to sit in at work spaces for you to be able to plug in your laptop and workstations. It's a casual atmosphere and the customer service is very good here as well. I am not too fond of the fact that I ordered a caramel cold brew and I could not taste any caramel I'm sure they put a drip in there, but definitely didn't taste like it. My Wife did end up getting some type of drink that I thought was awful but she likes so it goes by taste of course. To me it was like putting something that you feed plants with into a glass for drinking but my wife she loved it. She thought it was good. Maybe My Wife is plant based lol. Went to this coffee shop over a month ago and am coming back to write a review because I enjoyed it that much. Housmade syrups, seasonal drinks, cozy atmosphere. Finding this coffee shop in the middle of the Adirondacks, I was not expecting it to be as a good as it was. Went 2 days in a row. I still crave an iced latte from this place. My first time here, after my San Francisco daughter described it as "so hipster!!" In SCHROON LAKE?? Yes. Don't be intimidated by the lines- be patient. You're on lake time. Today they had, not avocado toast, but cucumber toast. What is that? I could only imagine soggy puréed cukes on bread. No, it was described as toast spread with a cheese, sliced cucumbers and everything bagel spice on top. I was tempted, but had a paninied sour dough of mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes. VERY good! Coffee was very good: I only had plain medium roast, no complaints. I will definitely be back -there are cushioned chairs and comfy seating in back. The Guatemalan pour over was worth the wait. Whenever I have luxury time and a pour over is available , I partake. I'm a sucker for one. There was a choice between Ethiopian and Guatemalan, went for the darker of the two. Busy stream of customers for all manner of legitimate espresso and coffee drinks, all manner of milks as well. Serve breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Although the staff is young, they seem to know their way around a hand crafted cup of coffee. Plenty of places to sit and hang out, cute little patio with Adirondack chairs, and really close to the boat launch. The reports of the hot chocolate was "pretty good, not hot enough". Beautiful setting for a local coffee shop in Schroon, NY. The outside has a ton of beautiful wood arches and heavy door, to keep warm in the Winter (even though I was here in Summer). There are a handful (4) of outdoor tables and a railing that separates the foot traffic from the guests. Coffee at 9 Mile is scrumptious and very strong. They have regular steeped or percolated coffee, syrups, flavors and espressos. The inside of this coffee shoppe is bright, friendly and there is a lot of space to spread out. When I was here there were quite a few 20ish youngsters reading and studying. Both staff and location and an elongated space (to the back) are pitch perfect for a leisurely lounge, a date, some serious studying, a relaxing break or a fast hot cup of BLACK and CAFFEINATED Joe!! During the week '9 Mile' had a large sandwich style billboard out front that advertised which coffees were being served, their hours and some quick foods too. It is an easy, effective and highly sought-after way of advertising, for those who are here for the first time. Many restaurants don't do it (sign). Prices were great. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious poppy seed muffins (although that was the old bakery option when I visited at 10 am on a Tuesday). I enjoyed the Nutella iced latte but all the Nutella flavor was at the bottom so it wasn't sweet enough at the start and a tad too sweet at the end. I was up in Schroon Lake for a work retreat and figured I would be out of luck for good coffee all week. Enter 9 Mile! They were such an excellent surprise! We were staying very close to 9 Mile and walked over each morning. The coffee was great, and the staff was friendly. I had the Nitro Latte each day and it was a great choice. Stopped in once last year (or year before?) during covid protocols so there was no food or hanging out allowed. Stopped back in a month ago after canoeing at Paradox lake for a cold brew and really enjoyed it; very good coffee and espresso and a nice clean space. Now it's my regular stop when I finish paddling in the area. In fact, it sometimes informs my choice of paddling sites. Decided to go for a few of hours on the Schroon River above Alder Meadow bridge today knowing that I could stop in at 9 Mile for replenishment on the way home. Very friendly, efficient people at the counter, a hit the spot grilled cheese on sourdough and a really good hot sauce to jazz it up. Figured out part of why the cold brew is so good when I checked the website - they use Kru coffee which is pretty much my benchmark in this region. Instead of doing a bad job roasting their own (like a cafe in Lake George I won't name), these folks just use high quality goods. Thumbs up from me. read more
