Last year, we booked a room at this inn and arrived only to be told they had accidentally double-booked our room. We were offered ZERO compensation and, because it was rodeo weekend, the nearest accommodation we could find was in Steinbach. It was incredibly frustrating and left a very bad taste in our mouths. Against our better judgment, we booked here again this year. Knowing what happened last time, I actually called before starting to travel to confirm our stay AND specifically to confirm that our room was booked and that we would not arrive to another double-booking situation. We drove all the way from Gimli tonight, arrived to check in and -- unbelievably -- THEY DOUBLE-BOOKED OUR ROOM AGAIN. Now, after attending our event tonight, we have no room to return to and have to drive all the way back to Gimli. Once could be an unfortunate mistake. Twice -- after I specifically called ahead because of what happened the first time -- is completely unacceptable. I genuinely do not understand how an inn can operate this way. Your most basic responsibility is to manage your room reservations, and somehow ours has been mishandled two years in a row. We planned our evening around having accommodation, drove a significant distance, and did everything we possibly could to make sure this wouldn't happen again. It still did. To say we are angry and disappointed is an understatement. I would have absolutely no confidence booking a room here again.

The patties, though tasty, were fried a bit too much (the meat was a bit dry and the outside done too much) but it was made with real burger which was a nice change. We were the last ones in the restaurant and Eva was so nice, to the point that she sat chatting with us into the evening, as if we were old friends who had paid her a visit. What an incredibly friendly and interesting woman she is! On the way home we talked about what an enjoyable evening it had been and how glad we were to have gone. "Wow, can you believe THAT?" was actually spoken by my friend, referring to Eva's incredible hospitality and easy conversation. We consider ourselves lucky to have arrived just in the nick of time before the door was locked, and went away feeling like we'd made a new friend. It's a bit of a drive if you're from Winnipeg, but if you feel up to a little road trip I would highly recommend heading out to Vita and stopping in at Eva's. It took almost 30 minutes for my friend and I to be served at the bar. The first time I was here I had the roundhouse mac n cheese. It was good though nothing special, but the poor service definitely cancelled out what was decent food. The second time I came here on a work dinner, where we somehow stuffed almost 20 people on a long table. Service was a lot better, though maybe it was because I was with a large group. I went during poutine week, so I had the Taco Mac n Cheese Poutine. The mac n cheese was actually mac n cheese bites, which was ehh...but I liked the concept! Cheese curds are good, size was generous, and the nacho beef was cooked well and juicy. So to cancel both visits out, I'll leave is as 3.5/5 for now. If I get good service next visit I'll be happy to bump this up to a 4.

I was delighted to see this location in Steinbach after I had visited the Dollarama a few doors down. This eatery is across from Booster Juice. I needed to grab dinner. I did a search online to check out the menu. One reviewer indicated that this place is heavy-handed on the mustard when you order a sub. I find that mustard can overpower everything, so i decided to go with light mustard. This eatery is located in a plaza. I backed into a spot steps away from the entrance. It had a great deal on a fatboy (burger) combo. I was in the mood for a sub, but made a mental note about this deal. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Nishan, a friendly man behind the counter. I located the sub that I saw during my menu research and ordered it. I got the combo sub. I like that there's only one size, which is roughly a footlong. It simplified placing my order. This sub had ham, spiced ham, salami, lettuce, onions, tomato, mayo, mustard, cheese and sub sauce. I asked that I get light mustard on the sub. He nodded. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and all was great. He let me know that it would take five minutes to make my sub. It was perfect for me to browse and take photos. You can dine in. There were a few tables and chairs. He had another colleague who made my sub and made sure that light mustard was applied. I loved that both cared about this detail. It didn't take long to make my sub. He wrapped it up and handed it over to me. I thanked both of them and happily left with my dinner. I loved all the ingredients, which tasted yummy and fresh. The onions were diced and I loved them. I didn't experience that onion burn when they are sliced thick and are raw.
