Look Timberline has a great WPA lodge. Can be beautiful and the season is long. But here's why I give it one star. My son bought me a day pass for a birthday present. A very nice gift. I did not use it immediately. When I did attempt to use it Timberline would not accept it. I had all receipts and information. I had everything any reasonable vendor would issue on a purchase. Timberline simply refused. WTF?? Then, recently, right after I turned 65, I bought a day pass not recalling I was now eligible for a senior pass- $44 difference. Timberline would not credit the difference between the adult day pass and the senior day pass. So the heck with Timberline. Just another greedy ski resort. And now that we're talking a review, let me just add that Timberline offers the flattest terrain in the West. . read more

Bike park! Brand new trails. Green circle has No roots and very flowy for about 4.5 miles. Some road crossings breaks up the flow but give you a break. At Timberline's ski center you fill out they have bikes to rent for ref day of riding on the mountain. If you bring your own bike you need to wash it off to not mix abrasive species into out local forest. Ensure your bike is ready for these trails. Check your bike's equipment is a must on this mountain, you don't want to end up not being able to stop. I run a GT sensor full squishy with Minions DHR & DHF 2.8" tires on these trails and my buddy rides a hard tail with 2.3's. These trails are nicely maintained by the Trail Squatches. You catch a rare glimpse of them on the side of the trail working out their special pothole fillers as you ride past. The evidence is on the freshly groomed fast trails. The label each trail with green circle, blue square, or black diamond. Like in skiing, these indicate beginning, intermediate, advanced riding levels, respectively. Timberline bike park has two green circle trails, two blue square, and two black diamond runs. More trails under construction. WARNING: Black Diamond runs have 3-4 foot drops with no alternative trail. Make sure you have the skills and bike for these trails. After each run it is a chair lift up to the top. Place your bikes into the special ski lift bike racks and grab the next chair. At the top The crew pulls your bike off and waiting for you to jump out of your chair onto your bike for the next run. After a few runs take a rest at the bar/restaurant at the ski center. Good food and good beer. Not to much so you are not too fluid down the trails. Overall excellent days on the mountain. Three trips up here and each with over 25 miles of riding before jumping off the trails before losing energy and control. This year lift tickets are $36. I'll be back again and again. read more

Come here early though, the mountain gets tracked out fast on the weekends. ***of note*** You have to pay for parking You can bring your own food but there are specific places you must eat at. Having skied since I was little on the East coast, I had no idea what I was missing on the West Coast!! The skiing was phenomenal!! Even though Covid precautions were everywhere, this didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the staff or the life-changing experience for myself. After a day on the slopes I sat on the beautiful veranda and enjoyed one of the most delicious Amber Ales I've ever tasted. Great day!! Fortunately we came during a time of fresh snow every day, so the snow was limitless. I thought these runs were interesting in that you snowboard DOWN the runs from the main area and then at the bottom take the lift back up. The beginner runs I thought were a little too beginner (literally had to unstrap a few different times because some parts were completely flat). I did not like the way the runs "merged" or crossed paths with the other runs either. The intermediate runs were definitely better. We put our kids in the school and they did great (don't know if that's because they surf and skate daily or if the instructors are really THAT good), by the 2nd day they were going down the main runs with us. Food is a little pricey but that's expected for being at a resort, portions are descent size. Overall pretty good experience. read more

Went skiing at Timberline for the first time this past week, and had a great time. The staff was helpful, the lifts were efficient, and lines moved rapidly. On major and obvious problem, however, is the fact that the ski lodge seems absolutely allergic to chairs and benches. The main thoroughfare where you rent skis and lockers, and purchase passes has one--that's right, 1--chair as of December 27th. Imagine, then, that you're trying to take your ski boots off and change back into your regular shoes in front of the locker you've rented. You'll need to do that on the dirty carpet, sorry to say--either that, or head out the main doors and hope that there's a bench free out there. Honestly, if I didn't know better I'd swear the designer of this space was some religious zealot for whom sitting was an insult to the Almighty. Thou shalt not sit! As for places to lean your skis with little dowels to keep them from sliding down the walls--not to be had, except in a couple of places outside. As a result, people just lean them against walls anywhere and everywhere, hoping for the best. Don't get me wrong, Timberline has its charms. For the beginner-to-intermediate skier, the Pucci-Westleg run is terrific. And for someone trying snowboarding the first time, the practice area with the Bruno lift is great--you don't even need a lift ticket since you can practice in a confined area with a gentle slope. But if you're renting skis on popular days, you'll want to rent them locally in Sandy or Govt. Camp, or just go to Mt. Hood Meadows, whose rental/fitting operation is like a Swiss watch. read more

paid half price for season pass and here's how you can do it too! first, spend the $25 for pass protection. second, take up rock climbing. third, get a high ankle sprain on a required fall getting your lead climbing card. last, get 6 weeks of PT just so you can WALK normally and a letter from the ER doc saying "no more skiing" and you can return to sports on July 1st. good luck! seriously, really love skiing and I am going to miss spring skiing at Timberline! great people and great skiing! read more

About a month ago, Ron and I took a bus up to Timberline Lodge for a day trip. We were able to catch it at one of TriMet's transit centers for a round-trip fare of $6 each. It was a great ride up to their day lodge, and the most snow I'd seen in years. I have to hand it to the bus drivers in being so stoic and patient. The bus had to be pulled over to install chains and then some other commuters ahead of us, ignoring signs reading that chains were required, slid off the road. It took about an hour to get that mess all cleared up, yet not one grumbling word and only laughter and good conversation was heard from these gallant folks. We got to the day lodge at noon, so proceeded to lunch in the Wy'East Restaurant. Wy'East is the Native American name for the Mr. Hood area. Ron had vegetarian chili in a bread bowl (which he let me taste and which was very hearty and super flavorful). I opted for the cheeseburger/bacon burger. It was yummy and perfectly cooked. Ron had an IPA and I had a bloody Mary. Service was excellent and friendly. Overall, considering this is a ski lodge, common areas were easy to get around in due to everybody having great manners. Ths restrooms were very clean and well stocked. Ron and I sat in front of the fireplaces and kept our feet toasty. What a fun adventure! I hadn't been up there since college spring vacations in the 1970s when I skied. Ron and I plan to come back perhaps this summer! read more

Pretty shitty that they sell you a $20 lift ticket x 3 ($60) to take 1 lift ride to to mid way point, only to be told to stay on lift cant get off because they are closing at 2pm. I've stayed at Timberline in the past (pre-COVID) and it was great. This review is more for the customer service aspect during COVID. I booked a stay and have called with several questions regarding our stay and have spoken to the same reservations attendant. She is extremely rude and unhelpful. She even attempted to tell me how to wear a mask in a super condescending manner. Like after 9 months of pandemic hell, I don't know how to properly wear a mask?? I get that this is a stressful time for all, but treating your guests disdainfully isn't helping your business. I'm not sure I will return after this year. read more

I experienced timberline (both the lodge and the ski resort) for the first time during the pandemic. I would like to offer more stars because I feel the employees are friendly and doing their best to keep things safe, but overall I left disappointed. Guests are inconvenienced by things that are out of the resorts control- food must be eaten outside, in hotel rooms, or in the car; and wearing a mask all day is uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind these as I feel they're necessary measures to keep us all safe, except that I didn't feel safe at all. Guests completely disregard other guests' space, many keep the masks down when staff aren't looking, and super long lines meant lots of congestion. I did appreciate staffs' efforts to enforce mask wearing, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. Outside of safety concerns, the mountain was itself a bit disappointing (however I didn't experience the entire mountain as the top was closed). The blues are pretty flat making it challenging to get speed, and there are a lot of cat tracks. This frustrated my husband who is a snowboarder. Add to this the long lines (I waited in one line for 30 min) and the lack of maps on the mountain, making it difficult to navigate for the first time. I will say the resort is charming. If you enjoy easy blues, are less concerned about Covid, and don't mind waiting in lines you may have a great time. read more

I am 55. I have been dealing with various companies for maybe 40 years. Worst company I have ever dealt with! I just spent a month (called most week days) trying to purchase a pass. They now have my money but another month later... no pass! And, the KICKER...no way to contact them. You cannot call or leave a message. I sent an email but nothing. Another day dealing with the rudest customer service on the planet. Honestly don't even bother because you'll feel like crap after. This is our third time trying to redeem a ticket for a date they told us it would be valid for. When we explain the situation they tell us point blank we're wrong and there's nothing they can do. We've offered to pay more to upgrade our ticket and they won't allow us to. We've had employees laugh at us when we've asked for assistance. Literally no one is willing to discuss this with us and they brush us off and make us feel stupid for trusting them with our money. First time coming here, and right off the bat I HAVE to give a major shout out to Miles Bland in customer service. After purchasing my pass online in January and driving from California up to their resort but something always going wrong (freak snowstorm and the resort shutting down and an insane line to get in at 8am), we made sure to plan our trip accordingly since it was the last time we would be able to do it as a result of moving to the east coast. Their website was down and I couldn't access my pass but I had the sale ID and email confirmation. When we got to the resort, a young lady wouldn't help us AT ALL. All she kept telling us was that we needed to buy new passes if we couldn't pull the other ones up. If YOUR website is down, why would we need to buy more passes?? She was uncooperative and said things like "this is why we don't recommend buying them online", there were absolutely no refunds and was not helpful one bit. We ended up buying more tickets for the day because we didn't want our 14 hour drive to go wasted. Cue Miles, who worked with me after I sent in an email regarding the situation (how we couldn't access our passes due to their own website being down but somehow being responsible for not being able to use them). He was BEYOND helpful and got me all sorted out within an hour of sending me an email saying he would help. Honestly they were going to lose my service (I usually go to Mt Hood Meadows) after what I experienced but he has made me do a 180 and heavily consider going her again. So thank you Miles!!! Their lifts are fast to the top and slow down immensely so it is easy for beginners to get off of need be. When we went, it wasn't crowded at all and there were lots of runs with hardly any people on it. Will most likely return next year read more

I've loved coming here to snowboard - or rather, attempt to. It's pretty pricy to do the lifts and I'd never pay for it for the first hill because it's not even that bad to walk back up, though. I also recommend bringing a lunch or planning to drive elsewhere to eat because the food they sell there is pretty expensive for the quality of food. There's a few different spots driving into the ski lodge area that you can pull off and play in the snow if you want to just bring your own sled or play in the snow without getting run over by snowboards also which is nice. Im a fan. Of the three major destinations on Mt. Hood, TImberline is currently my favorite. It's closer than Meadows and seems to have better uphill capacity vs. Meadows. Perhaps the terrain is more limited but with the fam it's where its at. More time skiing vs. waiting. I'm game. Fusion Pass opens up options. read more

This is a review of summer skiing..... My go to place once Mt. Bachelor is closed. I try to make it up to Mr. Hood every couple of weeks to get some summer turns in. I can't go long without skiing or I go nuts. Before June 4th they usually run three lifts and you can still ski from the lodge. After the first week of June it usually goes down to two lifts to get you up to the Palmer Glacier. This is shortly before the summer ski racing camps start. Timberline ski area makes a ton of money off of these camps. Don't get mad at the next comment...("where rich white kids from all over the US come to get better at a sport that only a very very few will ever excel") Hey it makes them better skiers and helps spread the sport. Lifts are usually open 7am until 2pm in the summer. At the height of the camps (July) most of the mountain is takin up by the young campers. They stop around 11:30am so then the rest of the mountain can then be accessed. There is a very good breakfast and lunch buffet down at the Timberline Lodge but will save that for a review of the lodge/hotel itself. The lifts are in need of a little TLC but hopefully that will take place before snow starts to arrive in the fall. read more

First time at Timberline. I have skied out west on numerous occasions and while east skiing can't compare to Colorado or Utah, Timberline does a GREAT job with what they have. It felt like a small slice of Colorado ski resort except you could buy a good lunch for $10, not $20. The high speed lift gave us a ton of skiing. Some good steep runs, some nice cruisers and even a few tree runs. read more

We drove down from Seattle to visit some friends in Portland and snowboard at Mt Hood. It was 94 degrees in Portland and yet we were able to ski in the sunshine all day! Timberline Lodge hosts the only year-round ski season in North America. The Palmer lift was really cool: it's a long, decently steep run- black diamond graded but very doable for beginner riders. If you ski down the length of Palmer and Magic Mile, you cover a lot of distance, although the spring snow made things much slower and after doing the combo of those two runs a few times, I opted to just ride the length of the steeper Palmer run. Some of the lower terrain gets kinda flat and it was hard to keep my speed up enough. The parks are the real attraction to the Timberline Ski Resort, although I was just happy to have a sunny ski day in late spring. The spring snow was definitely more work than skiing in powder so we were pretty well dusted by the end of the day. read more

I got private lessons for my son with Tristan who was amazing with him! Then I paid for a group lesson for my husband who had already snowboarded a few times and no one was in his class so he basically got a private with Tristan also!! My daughter did the all day kids club and Jeremy was her instructor who was also AMAZING!! The second round (1-3) no one was in her group so she basically got a private lesson as well! It was only her second lesson and she was moved to the next level slope. She progressed so fast!! I couldn't decide between Mount Hood Meadows and Timberline and I'm SO glad I chose Timberline! I also did a group class and loved my instructor but I can't remember her name My whole family had a fantastic day here at Timberline and the snow couldn't have been better!! RACIST AGAINST ASIANS and AFRICAN AMERICANS!!!!! the older white lady with grey hair and glasses on her head who is on the bigger side at the front where you purchase ticket is extremely rude. After we got done purchasing tickets we go to the side away from traffic to put our tickets on. There is also other people there who where of Caucasian race fixing there Gear and tickets too. She comes up to our group and proceeds to tell us to leave and this is not a lounging area. We where just attaching out tickets so we don't lose them. We said sorry about that , one second, then she's like LEAVE NOW. And proceeds to stand extremely close to us and says she will wait there until we leave. SHE SAID NOTHING TO THE WHITE PEOPLE! I'm not sure if it is because We are brown. It was extremely uncomfortable. Then she is harassing us the whole time until we leave. I asked for her name and she's like WHATS YOUR NAME. I tried to cancel a few days out due to winter storm hitting Portland (making driving conditions lethal) and I just got a smart remark back from a kid that called me back saying "well we are a winter sport, not our problem, you can't get a refund".... never again read more

We stopped by here during our vacation in the Pacific Northwest. We walked around and took several pictures. The views were breathtaking. We really enjoyed riding the ski lifts, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. We also met some other people from Houston!!! read more

Waited 4 hours for a shuttle that never came. Had to turn around...for the second straight weekend.

This is the WORST ski resort I've ever been to. People are friendly, however, the service sucks and we got ripped off. The first day we went there, my 2 daughters had snowboarding lessons (which was a rip off). My friend's kids (1 daughter and 1 son) had snowboarding lessons as well. They got mixed up with my friend's daughter and my daughter and put my daughter in the advanced class when she never snowboarded before and put my friend's daughter in the beginners class when she was the advanced snowboarder. Next, they zipped up my daughters inner jacket to the outer jacket so the zipper got stuck. They tried to get it off and could not. (This jacket was just bought that day because we realized that my daughter forgot to pack one). So the manager was trying to get the zipper unstuck from this BRAND NEW jacket and could not. She then told me she could give me one of her used jacket. WTH??? I told her no. They kept prying at it to the point where it was messed up and then the manager told me that she is a good seamstress and can fix it. At that point, she tried to blame my daughter saying my daughter started the zipper and her worker finished it. I asked my daughter and she said they did it. (She is very honest and would have told me she did it if she did). I was not ok with that. So after literally hours of this, they finally decided to give us our money back. The manager told me that we can get something from their store that is the same amount. We looked and we didn't like any of their jackets. So she said that she can mail us a check. I was not comfortable with that cause I didn't trust them because how they tried to lie about my daughter zipping it up first. So she said she would get her manager. Her manager said their finance department is closed so that they would mail a check to me. They went over my address and full name that they had on their refund and it wasn't even my name or address. It was my friend's name and address!!! At that point, I was like NO WAY! I'm going to get something now and pay the difference if I have to. We found something and had to pay $40 more. The next couple days was ok. I get home and open my credit card bill to find that they charged me TWO days of lessons when I only had one, and to top it off, at the end of the first day, they went ahead and charged me the amount they said they would have refunded me. THIS IS THE WORST and NO INTEGRITY place I have even gone to. Do not trust these people. read more
