First, the service was lovely. I want to be clear about that. They tried really hard. We ordered fried zucchini and it came out and was very good but a super small portion not enough ranch ... I ordered a wedge salad that came out with French fried onions on it ( odd) not enough dressing .. a baked potato that was under cooked and not properly cooked ( just thrown in the oven dry no prep) it was not at all the treat it normally is ..my friend ordered duck and it came on a huge platter of cold mashed potatoes and gravy with the smallest ( easily 3 ounces ) portion of duck I've ever seen plopped in the middle. The table next to us was so loud you couldn't hear anything but them .. the place is huge and nearly empty .. I feel bad posting this because this place is not going to make it and I hate to kick them when they are down but I also think it was pretty expensive and it's a shame for people to waste money in this place.. don't go I'm sorry to say .. read more

We had heard good things about this place but hadn't had the chance to try it yet. Came in for an early lunch today at 11 am. We were the first customers of the day, everything was clean and looking really nice. We were seated promptly we opted to sit outside and I absolutely loved the outside area as a mom of 2 young boys it was perfect because they outside area is fenced and they have some cool furniture and a little slide etc. so my kids got to explore a bit affording us some time to relax and enjoy our meals. We ordered fried zucchini to start which was delicious. Didn't even get a pic of it, it was that good haha. For meals we got the kids Mac n cheese, chicken strips and both came with fries. They loved it. I ordered the timbers roadhouse burger with a salad and it was top notch, gourmet even! My mom ordered a French dip and she said it was also delicious. The food, the service, amazing! We did not expect to get the delicious flavors, the variety of meals to accommodate everyone's likes, and great service we got at Timber's Roadhouse. It's right off the exit of the 101, lit up with neon. Some of our favorites: chicken piccata, halibut, salmon and the chicken salad. Such a kind and thoughtful staff, water glasses always full. We first ordered the happy hour sliders which turned out to be 2 small stale bus with some weird small cubes of meet in an overly sweet BBQ sauce. Neither my wife or I could eat them and even our 2 year granddaughter, who eats everything, would not eat them. So did not expect much for our dinner but the meals we ordered were nearly inedible. My wife and I had heard good things about Timber's Roadhouse and decided to try it for lunch today. We arrived at approx 12:25 and were promptly seated Our server brought us menus and brought us our ice teas quickly. She then took our order. I ordered the pulled Pork sandwich and my wife ordered the tri- tip sandwich. 2 ice teas two sandwiches that's all. 45 mins later at 1:15, we left without receiving our lunch! I counted ten people in the entire Restaurant including a table of two who came in after us and got their food before us. No server came to ask if we needed anything or explain the delay. As we got up to leave we were met at the door by a server. I told her a 45 delay would not work for working people. She said she could box up my food! If my food was ready why wasn't it brought to the table?! I can't comment on the quality of the food because I. Never received it. But the service was AWFUL! AVOID THE TiMBERS RESTAURANT!!! If I could do a zero star I would have. Walked in with reservations via open table party of 6. The place was a ghost town. We all sat ourselves not being greeted and sat sat for 15 minutes no menus nor a drink order. But we did see kids (8-12 years old) were bellying up to bar from outside to get drinks. Right next to bar patrons??? Wtf. Shouldn't they be told a waitress will get your order? Food expensive, manager waitress with side pint rude and did nothing. 3 out of 6 had poops all night after consuming beef. Skip this place. I had a horrible experience the first time (inedible food) but wanted to give a second chance. We decided to try happy hour. Bacon wrapped jalapeños, ranch fries and pretzel were good, but it's frankly just easy to execute bar food. They have a huge staffing issue and openly argue with management about it in front of customers. We were ignored for 40 minutes even though we know the waitress saw us waving to her. Finally, a manager came up to our table and said she'd send our waitress over. 15 more minutes went by. The manager again came by to check that our waitress had come to the table. No, she had not. Our waitress came by after that time and apologized for the mix up. We were comped sliders and fries. The manager was the one that brought out our food however. She was very gracious and we felt bad for her. Someone needs to step up their game and train the staff or fire the ones with attitude. Also, if it's not your table, but you see customers in need, take a moment to speak to them rather than ignoring their existence, (this is directed at the Asian waitress who literally stared us down and walked away). Well we've been to the Timbers... Not sure we'll be back. My review is going to echo all of the other ones that said the service was slow and service lacking and food is overpriced, You could get a better meal at Kyle's kitchen! It makes me wonder about these five-star reviews that say this place was fantastic, makes me wonder if they are paid reviews. The owners used to have the Woody's over on Hollister and Patterson, but apparently closed that down so they could open this place. That place had been there for a really long time, so obviously they've been in the restaurant business so not sure what is going on with Timbers. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, it was dry and like eating sawdust. The other person in my party ordered the Timbers burger and it was just okay. The fries were very good though, as was the pretzel. We were so excited to have a restaurant open on this corner, it would serve so many neighborhoods in this area. A lot of us could walk. We did go about a week or so after they opened, so we kind of thought we needed to give them a little time to get their act together. But review after review says the same thing, overpriced, poor service, bad food. Draft beers are $8! Menu is ok, but should be more casual. Not sure if this place is going to last. I sure hope the OWNERS and MANAGEMENT are reading these reviews, and hope they make some improvements to food and service. read more

Good food, friendly service and cool architectural features. $22 prime rib French dip sandwich with perfect creamed horseradish and savory au jus is a winner. Perfect crispy steak fries too. $18 Timber's 1/2 pound burger is full of flavor. Blend of chuck, brisket and short rib with tomato-bacon jam. Nice brioche buns! Cheesecake is good and generous in size but $10 is overpriced in my opinion. Lunch menu features soup ($7-8), salads ($6-16), sandwiches ($15-18), fish and chips ($16), ribs ($28-34), and burgers ($15-18). Vegan Beyond Burger is $15. Dinner menu is extensive with salmon ($32), duck leg ($38), filet ($44), BBQ chicken ($22), vegan lasagna ($26), and other items priced like a fine dining establishment, which is the feel you get in Timbers dining room. Nice reno job on the building, which has a long history. Awesome rock fireplace in the dining room. Huge outdoor patio perfect for games (they have a lot) and happy hour (from 2-5 pm), or for lunch or casual dinner. Bar is a bit loud but hey, it's a bar! Bar seating can be little tight, which is more of an issue for us during Covid so we opted to sit outside. Timbers will definitely be a regular stop for us when in the area. read more

Great place! Love the ambience and so many kind people working here and helping out. We had a large group for a graduation celebration recently and this place was perfect. Truly excellent service from a young man from Montenegro (sorry I can't remember his name), the place was packed with large groups and he was on it! Other than 1 person in our group not liking their chicken (overcooked and dry) the rest of us were very pleased with our meals. They may need to expand their craft beer selection though, it's pretty small. We will definitely be back, prices were pretty reasonable and food and service were outstanding! read more

All great today, lunch for 4 (including a 5-year-old). Special Chicken Parm was outstanding - and huge. French Dip was excellent, as was the Timber's Burger. We used Timbers to celebrate our youngest son's graduation from college. Brooke was knowledgeable, patient and kind. She helped us set up and was always there to lend a hand. The process of deciding on the menu was smooth and easy. Using the back room allowed the kids a space to be kids and had games to play. Excellent sandwiches! The open faced steak and the Chicken sandwiches were outstanding. Fish and chips were also very tasty. Homemade blue cheese dressing on the salad was a treat. Where do I even begin... While ordering drinks we asked for sprite for the kids the lady said they don't have that, turns out they did. My sister asked for a New York steak well done (she's pregnant) I asked for filet mignon medium rare. They cooked her steak how I wanted my filet mignon and vice versa all our served said was "I'm sorry about that" and brought us complimentary soft drinks. They charge per refills so we paid $30 for soda alone. Our server spilled a drink on my husband The beef ribs were more fat than any actual meat. The Timbers roadhouse is a lovely place to visit. Very rustic high open ceilings. Quiet enough to have a conversation. The service was excellent. They have a huge dining room so there's plenty of room and we did not have to wait even though it was busy. My hubby got a Baja chicken salad which he loved. I had the cowboy steak which was also delicious. The blue cheese dressing on the salad tasted homemade and good. They were out of a couple of the wines that I wanted but had a broad enough selection to satisfy me. This would be good choice for for a date night. Prices are reasonable. I know there's a lot of history here, but this was our first time here and it was fun to see the old pictures and speak to the waitress who knew a little bit about it. She apparently came here in her younger days with a fake ID. We highly recommend! They just opened in October. Some of the reviews that are negative I think they were just bumps in the road. Delicious food and great service... the venue is well spaced and has indoor and outdoor seating, a lovely bar and a large outdoor area where kids can run a bit. We stopped in early on a Friday evening in July, noted they have live music events periodically. Staff was friendly and attentive, food was reasonably priced, solid portions and flavorful and tender. We had potato skins, steak sandwich and prime rib dip sandwich and apple pie a la mode. All yummy! read more

Went to timber's for the first time tonight. The environment is great! The open beams and giant fireplace inside give great ambiance! We sat outside where there were heaters, fire pits, pool table, giant connect four, cornhole, and foozeball. Our waitress, Tanya, was wonderful! She was very friendly and super attentive! We enjoyed the Bavarian pretzel (so good), baby back ribs and shrimp skewers. We will definitely be back and likely bring our kids. Tonya said a new happy hour is coming Feb 2nd! read more

I had driven by this building for over 45 years and I never stopped, much less ate there. Today an old friend and I were roaming around Isla Vista and Goleta on business and reminiscing, and he said that he had heard that The Timbers had reopened, so we drove up and checked it out. The shrimp/corn fritters were burnt(and cold) more like small hockey pucks I don't think you could've cooked the Brussel sprouts anymore without them turn into dust. Traveling in the area for a few days in the Airstream. The closest restaurant to,our RV Resort was Timbers so we decided to give it a try for lunch. WOWZA- what a gem!! Started off w/ pretzel and cheese appetizer & hubs and I agreed;"we could make a meal of this" man it was good, even heated up as leftovers later. I ordered the mango Serrano vodka cocktail and even though it was lunch... "Line 'em up" I order a cocktail every where I go and this was the best I've had in YEARS. I even took a pic of the drink on the menu and will do my best to duplicate. On to the food... Husband ordered the HALF POUND burger and I said- "No way you'll finish that" oh he did, He said it was in the top 5 of his Greatest Burgers list. I ordered my go-to standard, French Dip and I kid you not, the BEST French dip I've had in my entire 51 years of life!! The au jous which is usually pretty unfavorable, was AMAZING, I'm pretty sure I figured out the secret- they added just the right amount of Heinz 57 Steak Sauce to the au-jous. GENIUS! I'll be incorporating that move to my home cooking as well. We're going back tonight and we can't wait! read more

Thrilled that the Timbers is back and that they kept their beautiful rustic design. As more & more restaurants become mid-century modern, it's great to have a classic option. They had the immense fireplace going on a foggy June day. Worth the drive all you Santa Barbarans who think 10 miles is halfway to the moon. We enjoyed very good service and food. My friend enjoyed the duck confit and prime rib soup. I wish someone had reminded me to get extra bbq sauce on my ribs, but all was delicious and I'd like to return. read more

Timbers has been beautifully restored and has a wonderful atmosphere, props on making a huge place still feel warm and welcoming. Alas, this was my second time, for a special occasion,and have to say this experience was hit or miss. We had the Bavarian pretzel and dip and artichoke, both good starters we all enjoyed. I ordered chicken piccata which for me was when things took a turn, it was very bland, no hint of lemon which is usually a signature of this dish. And it had a lot of sautéed mushrooms which I think is Timber's twist on the standard but for me not so great. Served with sautéed zucchini mostly cut in huge pieces. I really didn't enjoy my main dish although my Caesar salad was very good. My son's ribeye was good but he said the clam chowder seemed different from what he remembered and was not as creamy. He has loved the chowder since he has it a number of times and encouraged his sister to try it so kind of bummed it seemed not the same as well as not as good. My husbands steak was a little overcooked but he likes to ruin good meat by eating it medium well anyhow so that wasn't such a big deal. The real disappointment was my daughter's prime rib. Ordered medium and was brought what looked like an end cut, or close to it and actually looked gray. Even when cut into the meat was clearly medium well at best. It was her birthday dinner so a little bummed her meal was the one we had to send back. A piece cooked properly was sent out and I had to wonder-your prime rib is already cooked so why not send out the temp requested to begin with? It should have been the easiest meal to get right. We had the same waiter from the first time we came and he did a great job both times, very professional and personable. I wont go out of my way to go Timbers for any special occasion again but maybe for a burger and a beer. read more
