This was a cozy little spot with really friendly service. One kid really loved her omurice, though my wife wasn't a fan of the bulgogi - it was pretty dry and tough to chew. Everyone dug into my mango snow bowl though, which was the true highlight of our meal. I came in to try a mango snow bowl after seeing a Tik Tok about it--I'm also a sticky rice and mango lover. Service was great and the man who helped me was very kind. The bowl itself had delicious fresh mango on the top and chewy mochi which I liked. I wouldn't say I would order this again but I would definitely come here to try their food. It's been quite a while since I've had spam. It's definitely an acquired taste. The snow cup however, is amazing. There is fresh strawberries, granola, Oreo, cookie crumbs, all on top of this light fluffy snow. Delicious. I visited at 5 PM on a Wednesday, and it was busy. The person behind the counter was also the person making the food, but they were still fast and prompt. I was here for an elite event, but I will definitely come back. Food was delicious! Maybe a bit pricey for the students so I hope they come up with specials. We came early for dinner, around 4ish so there's no one else eating. We went straight to the iPad to access the menu and place our order; it was easy and painless. Minutes later our food (in a to go box) was delivered to our table. I'm so happy this gem is in IV! Great quality and great value! Ordered the omurice with spam, crunchy shrimp rice with an egg on top, and the caramel apple bingsu. Omurice was very tasty. The spam was a good addition and the egg was cooked perfectly. The sauces on top made it very tasty too. The shrimp rice was like a deconstructed sushi plate and I was totally for it! Great flavor on the shrimp, and loved that it came with some seaweed on the side. And my top choice for our visit was the caramel apple bingsu!! Omg this was so good! I loved that it wasn't so sweet and it came with three different crunchies on top that made this bingsu addicting! I had no idea fresh apple would be good for bingsu, and wow it works so well! The food is so good, there's a few other Asian restaurants in IV but this one is super underrated. The food is honestly better than the others and its flavor profiles are pretty authentic id say. My favorite is the bulgogi bowl and of course the Snow Bowls!! read more

I got food poisoning from the crispy tuna rice. Immediately after I ate it, I was not feeling well. Later on in the night, I ended up throwing up all night projectile vomit. This is the second time I've been to teddy rice and it was just as good as the first!! We went around 10pm last time and the ambiance was kinda like late night ktown in LA. The omurice and bulgogi were both rly yummy! This time we got the omurice again and the pork belly bowl and both were just as fantastic. The service here is definitely on the slow side. It took about 25 minutes for two orders of fried rice--and I was the only customer in the place. At one point, I honestly felt like I had time to run out, grab a smoothie from Blenders, and be back before the food showed up. The food itself is good, but the wait just doesn't feel justified. It's like watching a kettle boil on low heat--eventually it gets there, but you're stuck wondering why it's taking so long for something so simple. What's odd is the guy running the place moves like he's in fast-forward--zipping around and clearly hustling. He's super friendly too, which makes the slow service even more confusing. The patbingsoo is definitely the highlight--cool, refreshing, and totally worth it if you're not in a rush. I haven't tried the late-night menu yet, but if it's the same pace, just plan to settle in. Today we discovered Teddy Rice - an unassuming, yet bright and modern Korean Fusion restaurant in Isla Vista near the UCSB campus. WOW. Living in LA we are spoiled with the variety and quality of Ethnic and Ethnic fusion, yet we were floored with the food. Absolutely outstanding flavors, beautiful presentation, extremely reasonable prices. Standouts were the Spicy Tuna Rice (a deconstructed roll complete with nori sheets, soy sauce and wasabi, avocado and jalapeño slices and pickled ginger) and the decadent Pork Belly Quesadillas, served with salsa and sour cream). Ask for the Buldak Hot Sauce for an extra kick! The new KFC ( Korean Fried Chicken) burger was excellent as well. Don't miss the mango snow bowl if you still have room. Outstanding. Bonus: If you're looking for a late night snack, there is a wall of instant ramen you can make yourself. I LOVE pat bing soo (Korean style red bean snow bowls) and I have always wanted a place in town that sells them. So I am SO excited that not only does Teddy Rice sells them, they have the OG version with milky ice, red bean, condensed milk, fruit, rice cakes, the whole package! I dare say it's better than most I have had even in KTown especially for the value and authenticity. I mean, I have been there twice in three days, and plan on going back again within the next week! The second time I went to Teddy Rice I also got some food, the omurice and spicy tuna rice. Both tasted quite decent especially for the price point and location. I'm definitely coming back to try the other items on the menu. I'm especially excited to try the Al pastor taco and the galbi bowl. This place is so good. Forgot to get a pic. Their bulgogi rice bowl is really good! Good portions, the leftovers I had fed me for the whole day. The kimchi is also really good and the dressing for the salad. The guy working was super nice too, I hope they do good business here! The hot sauce and other sauces they have are also really good. Passionate owner, delicious food, excellent presentation. Service slightly on the slow side but he's very nice and often times, it's *just* Teddy in the back cooking and other times he has a few cooks and a waiter. I had family in town this weekend and wasn't sure if Sunday breakfast at 9:30 in Goleta with a large group would work well, but it was great! The manager and his staff were incredible, truly outstanding service. I don't generally notice service much at restaurants unless it's really bad, but today was so impressive I had to review. Manager jumped in immediately to put tables together (there is a lot of seating now by the Thai place), made good food recommendations, when one of our large party arrived after the rest of us they got his order in immediately so his food arrived with ours (even though there was a long line), all the food came quickly and was beautifully plated. Staff checked on us multiple times and manager suggested and took a nice family group photo. I hope he and the staff are well compensated because they were working so hard, SO friendly, really great at their jobs, and made our morning! Over and above service for any restaurant, let alone an order at the counter one. The food was also delicious, but I expected that ;)

We got Passionate (passionfruit syrup, lime juice, soda) and Lily's Mule (ginger beer, lime juice, mint, soda).
