What a cute spot -- casual but with a touch of fancy! The bar area gives off such fun vibes, though we were seated outside. Their patio is really nice and cozy, complete with heaters for those cooler evenings. Service was good overall, but our second round of drinks took a little while to arrive. The blood orange margarita was fantastic, and the wine list was impressive too. We started with the French onion soup -- everything about it was great except the soup itself, which was a bit lacking in flavor. I'd read so many good reviews about the chicken piccata, and I'm glad I tried it -- it was truly delicious! The chicken was tender, the pasta cooked perfectly, and the veggies were seasoned just right. Definitely a winner. My husband really enjoyed his chicken sandwich, and our friend loved the clams. For dessert, we tried the coconut cake. It was good, but I personally didn't think it lived up to the hype -- the crème brûlée was much better. All in all, we had a great experience here. It's a perfect spot to stop while in town or to come hang out at the bar for a drink and a bite

Jane in Goleta is our family's favorite SB restaurant, hands down. Thiago makes the most delicious and inventive drinks-- I always love trying his creations! The daily happy hour is also great. Standout drinks include the Pisco Sour, Ginger Gimlet, and Raspberry Lemon Drop. Standout menu items include the Chicken Piccata, Spinach Radicchio and Roasted Beets salad, Italian Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza, Chicken Fettuccini pasta. And of course for dessert, the coconut cake! Though the marquise au chocolat is also delightful. Ambiance is classic SB-- laid back elegance. Service always friendly and attentive.

We just had a wonderful dinner at Jane at the Marketplace in Goleta weekend of May 4, probably our 7th or 8th visit over the past 4 years (our son attends UCSB just a mile away). Jane never disappoints, we have eaten in every room in the restaurant, this time we ate on their covered patio. Here's what we ordered: -Chicken Piccata (my son gets this almost every time!) - chicken filet with lemon sauce, capers, etc. served with fettuccini. -Fish special - Halibut with a sauce and veggies -- absolutely delicious! -I had the Half Papaya and curried Dungeness crab salad served with a honey lime dressing - this salad was amazing, one of my favorite meals ever! For dessert we split a special (similar to creme brûlée, see the picture). But Jane is famous for their coconut chiffon cake which we have had many times, you should order that on your first visit. -Wine list also good with many choices, even just by the glass. -Service - always warm and friendly -Ambiance- not too loud, maybe in the main dining room where the bar is it can get a bit loud but the other rooms are quieter. Casual dress, not formal. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

I had a very enjoyable time with my friend at Jane, it's a great place to catch up. They have a really nice covered patio which was a relaxing place to converse and have a great meal. The drinks were super refreshing and the chicken piccata was delicious. Very flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very accommodating as well. Definitely recommend!!!

Great customer service since you walk in, great hostess and our server was on it. We made reservations early on, recommend as it fills up. Great food and was a nice treat. Plenty of seating options and a great lay out.

Lamb Chops with chimichurri, thin seasoned fries and a salad with mint. ‍

Super dinner! Well prepared, thoughtful flavors, quality ingredients and fresh. Great environment and service

** Visited on Sat. May 11th, 2024 My family and I came here to celebrate my sibling's birthday with a party of 16. The vibes are stylish yet casual- I think you could get away with wearing a sweatsuit if you wanted to LOL. There's an option of sitting inside or outside, but definitely be mindful of the weather! The service was incredible. With a large party, I didn't expect how on top the waitresses were, and how they were keen on attention to detail. Shoutout to the waitresses working this night, I'm so sorry I didn't catch your names but you guys were amazing. OKAY THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled salmon on cedar plank, though I was also eyeing the linguini & clams. The salmon was cooked to perfection- it wasn't dry and the flavors were super tasty! My boyfriend had gotten the grilled chicken breast, and it was SOOO good. We're thinking of coming back with just the two of us next time.

That was before we discovered the "Passport 2 History" program. When we did get the Passport and reviewed which spots were in it, I was glad to see this property listed, as an incentive to go back. We made a return visit two months ago, on a warm Saturday afternoon. It was lovely to see the vintage architecture spotlighted against a brilliant autumn sky. Warmer than usual, with no wind, it was a great time to be at the property. There was a young woman covering the gift shop. She told us that while the grounds were open, they weren't able to offer tours of the house that day. "Shortage of docents". I don't know the situation with who currently owns / runs the house - is it a foundation, the City, the County? Many historic properties were deeded by descendants of original owners to local municipalities to be shared with the public going forward. I'm sure that it's a challenge for any legacy property like this to get enough docents lined up, trained, and scheduled. They would mostly be volunteers, after all. While it was disappointing to not revisit the interior of the mansion, we did collect out P2H sticker, then spent time wandering the grounds. That was something we hadn't done previously. The lawn areas and mature palm trees are serene and beautiful. Going around the perimeter of the main house yielded new views I don't recall before. We snapped some photos, then adjourned to the train museum next door. The next time we're in the area, we'll call ahead to see if they are offering tours that day. Might be wise to do the same!

They provided insightful details about the history of the house and its significance to the Goleta community, adding depth and meaning to my tour. Their passion for preserving the heritage of the Stow House was evident, and their commitment to its upkeep was truly appreciated. Inside the house, I was transported back in time as I wandered through the rooms filled with old furnishings and captivating artifacts. The attention to detail in preserving the authenticity of each room was impressive. I found myself envisioning the lives of the Stow family and the lives they used to live. Beforehand, we watched a show "Ghost Adventures" claiming the house was haunted and the stow family members may still live there, which kind of gave the tour a spooky touch. All in all, it is a great way to appreciate what it used to be like here in old town Goleta. Check it out!
