I took a party of 8 to Timber's to celebrate my 22 year old twins birthdays. A special treat for college kids whom are used to eating campus food. Our waiter was funny and attentive. The boys had great tasting local beers on tap and a cool mixed drink. The prime rib was great and several of us shared in on that! I enjoyed the special pork chop which was savory and tender. Three of the boys had the Timber burger which they loved and were impressed on its unique & delicious nature. We shared crème brûlée, molten chocolate cake and the mud pie. They also brought out birthday ice cream sundaes for the twins. The deserts were incredible. All were great! The ambiance was classic of a big roadhouse with rustic interior and a grand fireplace. This place is awesome!! My daughter and I had lunch/dinner here today and it was wonderful!! We had just filled up gas and we're deciding what to do for food. My daughter looked up and said, "what about that place?" I said "let's gets going but I'll research on Yelp". A very comfortable feeling of going to Grandmas Cabin for a nice warm delicious supper. We were seated in a booth and our server, Fillip came to assist us. We ordered two iced teas and asked him for recommendations on appetizers. He said the potato skins are delicious. I asked about the onion rings and he said the same thing. So we ordered both. Boy are we glad we did! The skins were delicious! Nice tender crunchy potato halves fully loaded with cheese and bacon and green onions. These were super delicious! The onion rings were awesome too! Sweet onion rings covered in a crispy tempura like batter. Super yummy!! We then asked Fillip for a recommendation on what yo have for a main course. He said to try the "Short Rib". So we did. We are super glad we did!! The "Short Rib" is anything but a short rib! It's a big beef rib with a huge tender piece of delicious moist beef attached to it! We shared this dish since it was so huge! It was delicious! Super tender and flavorful! And really huge. Please see the picture! Order this dish since it is so yummy! The service provided by Fillip was wonderful! Super helpful and always attentive!! The only thing is my daughter was saying is that he needs to have a bell on him so you can hear him coming. First impression: We sat inside on a hot day. Instead of air conditioning they had the doors and windows open which didn't help much. A few brave souls sat out back in a shaded section of their large outdoor area. I'm not sure how they survived. Second impression: Decent decor. Friendly staff. First impression of the menu: Ridiculously expensive. Second impression of the menu: Happy hour prices are reasonable. Food impressions: The happy hour nachos were messy but tasty, smothered in tasty chili and cheese. The chips didn't hold up though, and everything ended up pretty soggy. My sliders were pretty good, no complaints at all. Friends were satisfied with their chicken tacos, but the tomato bisque was received a "Meh" for being bland. Onion rings were well seasoned and tasty, and the giant pretzel was well received. Overall, it was okay. We mostly stuck to the happy hour menu and it wasn't bad. Nothing convinced us that their food was so incredible that we should come back and pay their regular prices. Not sure if this was a restaurant or the dining room of an assisted living facility. We had a very disappointing meal here last night. They get 1 extra star because the waiter was great. Tall, mild accent (German?). Great guy. But none of the 4 of us enjoyed our food. We ordered the oxtail mac & cheese and the brussel sprouts. We picked at the m & c but no one was impressed and out of 4 people, we didn't finish it. Remember when brussels sprouts were always horrible and the food you hated the most? That all changed when people discovered roasting them with things like bacon, a scattering of bleu cheese, maybe a drizzle of balsamic. Boom - from zero to hero. Not these ones! They were old school yuck. The only difference between these and the ones your great-aunt (who you hated) used to make is that these were roasted instead of steamed. Blech. Me first: When I saw Duck Leg Confit w/ RED WINE MUSHROOM REDUCTION sauce, I was all in. But apparently their idea of "red wine reduction" is to reduce the amount of wine to nothing. The duck sat in a small drizzle of unseasoned sauteed mushrooms. The duck was also entirely unseasoned. It was like if you cooked a duck, but added zero salt, herbs or other flavorings. I asked for the shrimp skewer upgrade and the shrimp were also unseasoned except for a brief dusting of maybe paprika. They were also that weird translucence of poor quality frozen grocery story shrimp. Absolutely no flavor. My man: He got the prime rib entree. Absolutely no salt or other seasoning on the meat. Absolutely tasteless except for the side of horseradish and au jus. It came with a Yorkshire pudding but since everything on the plate had gone cold before it was served, it had lost it's charm. Yorkshire puds need to be served IMMEDIATELY or they get soggy and undesireable. It was like if you cooked a roast, but added zero salt, herbs or other flavorings. Adult kid 1: French dip. We love these but this one was bland and unseasoned w/ a weak au jus. The steak fries were good, tho. Again, no salt added. Adult kid 2: Open-face steak sandwich. She enjoyed the steak but said there was no cheese involved in the "cheese toast." For cocktails, I ordered the Cpt Blankenship, which I thought was very tasty. My guy got something that looked like my drink but in a flat voice he said, "it's not." He didn't like it. Kid #1 got the Ellwood martini, thinking that it was going to be like the wonderful cocktail she had recently in Solvang with the same Empress 1908 gin, but also elderberry tonic, & garnished w/ grapefruit and rosemary. Nope, this was pretty much just the gin. Maybe there was a splash of vermouth? I switched drinks with her out of pity but I wished that there was at least an olive or something to make it more interesting. I will say that the drinks were all pretty strong. Everyone's food was tepid except for my duck, so we assumed that their plates just sat for a while as they finished plating mine. I guess I should give a nod to the fact that they used fresh veggies instead of Bird's Eye. If your grandparents are in town and don't like being challenged by "ethnic" food like, say, "garlic," and are on a zero-sodium diet then this place is for you. We stopped for gas on our way home from a trip and found this place next to the gas station. The place looked really cute, it gave us big bear cabin vibes. We decided to to give it a try since we need to eat dinner anyways. There wasn't much people when we first came in so we got seated away. I can't leave they were pretty short staffed cause when we sat down it took 30 mins for a waitress to come up to us. I asked a couple questions about their menu and the waitress didn't seem like she wanted to help us or know anything about the menu. My boyfriend and I decided to get the burger and the bbq chicken. It took a while for our orders to get here. We also didn't even get our waters when we ask for another waitress she didn't bother to stop and help us, I guess the mentality is "if it's not my table not my problem" Our food finally arrived and it looked really good. For the salad I did ask for blue cheese dressing on the side but she gave me this vinaigrette and when I said I didn't order this dressing she seemed annoyed and didn't really want to change it even though I asked for it in the beginning of my order. The salad was pretty fresh, baked potato was don't just right and the fries were pretty good. My boyfriend's burger was alright nothing special. But the one thing I regret getting was the bbq chicken!!! It was the driest chicken I have ever tasted and hard to chew. I couldn't believe that they sold this on the menu and say it's one of the popular ones. Overall I wouldn't be coming back since this was a one stop one time thing. Timber's is truly an iconic restaurant that has been reawaken after a 15 year hiatus. It is literally the last stop (gas station, restaurant and basically any civilization) along the 101 Northbound until you reach the town of Buellton precisely 30 minutes later. You can't miss The Timber's huge sign that oddly appears several hundred feet before the building itself, nor the purple and pink neon light "T" identified upon dark night skies. HISTORY: Locals who grew up in Goleta, or graduated from UCSB, are familiar with this historic building yet may not be familiar with the fun history. On Feb. 23, 1942, shortly after the U.S entered World War II, a Japanese I-17 submarine shelled an oil facility west of Goleta. This was the only attack on the American mainland in more than a century! The gun shells hit an oil derrick, a catwalk and the Ellwood pier, but caused no damage to nearby ranches or population. Ten years or so later, the Sunray Oil Co. was dismantling the nearby shelled Ellwood pier and the Blankenship family had salvaged the wood to build a restaurant, including the current dining hall's massive fireplace utilizing stones from the Cachuma Lake Project. BAR & RESTAURANT: After multiple changes in owners, names, and visions, we are appreciative of the new owners who have breathed life and spirit back into this special location. The Timber's offers an all day menu from the popular bar. Often I choose to belly up to the bar and enjoy the company of the various locals and bartender. The Ellwood cocktail, their version on an Empress Gin Martini, is my go-to here. They also serve Happy Hour Tuesday-Friday from 2-6 pm. Come early to find a seat! Sports fan often find a spot to watch sports. Or choose to find a spot on their large, family-friendly outdoor patio with fire pits and games. Otherwise, the Timber's Great Room is where to enjoy fine dining which opens up at 4 pm. You can't miss the cabin-feel and gorgeous stone fireplace from the minute you enter. They serve up some tasty comfort food starters like Oxtail Mac & Cheese, Shrimp Fritters and massive Onion Rings (a few of my favorites) to share and get your appetite going. For your main entree, I would recommend any meat options. Whether it is the humongous dinosaur sized Beef Rib, BBQ ribs, or a French Dip with zesty horseradish, you'll be pleased. The lack of one final star is simply due to service being hit or miss. Given the charm, ambiance and prices of the dining room, I would expect the perfect waitstaff each and every time. After several visits, I have found a few staff members to not being very attentive, friendly or knowledgable. This was such a fun place to stop for Father's Day dinner on our way home. We were traveling with our little dog, so we were able to sit outside on the patio. What a beautiful space. We have driven by this old, abandoned place for many years and were very curious once it was renovated and reopened. The interior is beautiful and the dinner set up looks great for family celebrations. We had filet mignon, salmon and prime rib. The food was very good. My prime rib tasted great and I had leftovers for tacos the next day. They have a full bar, so I enjoyed a chocolate martini for dessert. Our server, Cambria was very friendly and attentive. I have tried mac and cheese at various places in my life and without a doubt--the oxtail Mac here, was the best. Hands down ! I'm not sure how they cocked the oxtail prior to adding it to the Mac and cheese but you get both flavors in every bite. I recently placed a delivery order from Timber's, unsure of how delivery from a steakhouse would turn out. The food was excellent, and having it be delivery didn't affect the quality of the food at all. I ordered the prime rib (medium rare), and my partner got the chicken piccata. We also got the oxtail mac and cheese. Everything was excellent. The prime rib was cooked just the way I like it, and the seasoning was just right. Tried this spot with a family member who likes to go for the drinks. Since I wasn't drinking I ordered some apps. I tried the fried pickles & oxtail Mac N Cheese. The fried pickles were ok, the batter was heavily seasoned and they came out hot. I like more of a crunch when it comes to pickles and I think the batter made them soft. The oxtail Mac n cheese was big for an app. It came out piping hot and gooey! I shared some with the table and everyone loved it. Great first time experience at Timbers. The service was solid and the servers were attentive. They had great recommendations and were friendly. The atmosphere is as I would expect for a Steakhouse, and there was a lot of happy / joyful tables around the restaurant. My guests and I ordered the specials, which were the T-bone and the Halibut. We ordered the T-bone rare and were pleased with the result as it did come rare. It's frustrating when the cook of the meat doesn't come out correctly and they got it spot on. The halibut was deliciously seasoned and nicely cooked. For dessert we tried both the cheesecake and the blackberry pie. Both were yummy, the cheesecake was fantastic with hints of lemon and topped with raspberry. I'd easily order both again. This was my first visit to Timbers even though I have driven past it many times - I should have stopped sooner. We stopped for lunch while on a roadtrip. The place was not busy & we were seated immediately. I have to say our waiter, Phillip, was excellent; you could tell he has experience and took pride in his work. I ordered the prime rib soup, which was excellent. They also had the best iced tea I've had in a while - freshly brewed with just a hint of passionfruit. My friends ordered the Cobb salad (with modifications, which they gladly accommodated), the Wedge Salad (which was more like a whole head) & the onion rings. We were happy with all of our food with the exception of the onion rings; while they were crispy & tasty, they were also extremely greasy. The place is large, nicely decorated and very clean. She looked familiar and it's because she worked at Hollister Brewing until it closed. Nice catch Timber's!! Give her a raise for sure, you need to keep her. My hats off to whoever decided to breath life back into a space that looked like it was teetering on the verge of being beyond saving! The prices, oh the prices.... For what I have had they seem a "tad" on the high side. Perhaps that's why a restaurant that seats about 400 usually has a dozen people in it. The place is huge. A front room with a bar. A large patio, the very large back room and a private rentable far back room with an additional bar. As someone who has mostly been on weeknights perhaps their saving grace is rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, class reunions and office Christmas parties! It seems perfect for that (if the prices fall within the budgets of the party goers. Next, the happy hour.... Sounds great doesn't it? The wine selections are really great quality and no complaints there! They also have several happy hour appetizers, yea!!! But look closer, they are the same appetizers on the regular menu at happy hour prices... they are also smaller portions. Specifically the Jalapeño Poppers. You get three small poppers on happy hour. Great service at the bar beautiful location and facility. Open beams outside seating relaxing and away from crowds. In regards to the food we have some work to do but it's not hopeless! I ordered the beef dip sandwich with salad and onion rings on the side. The sandwich was on the smaller side but the roll was soft and overall I enjoyed it but it was too small. Compared to Cold Springs weekend trip tip sandwich it was half the size. The salad was very tiny and looked like each piece was placed by hand not to exceed 1 oz. Odd to me. The onion rings were plenty but I think the oil was too cold something because they were saturated with oil. 1/3 I could not eat because the oil would drain after biting them. I really like this place. Even if you kept the sandwich smaller ok. Enlarge the salad at least and work on the onion rings all EASY mods. It was the perfect way for the kids to play while waiting for their food while the adults were able to sit back and relax. Antonio is an awesome server. He was efficient and friendly. Came here for a company happy hour event and first off - what a massive space! It's right on the edge of Goleta northbound and as others have mentioned - the history of this place is really cool. We sat outside their patio area and there's a firepit, a pool table, and corn hole. Definitely wear sunglasses outdoors though! I enjoyed the Winchester cocktail and their Institution Ale Pilsner. Very tasty. They have domestics and some local beers on tap, on top of a full bar. Food wise - we tried onion rings, fried zucchini, their buffalo wings, Alfredo pasta, artichoke dip, loaded potato skins, and Brussels sprouts. We ordered 2 of everything listed. After the food, we enjoyed some cheesecake which was my fav since it was airy and light. Almost as if they whipped the cheesecake batter extra fluffy. With a few exceptions, the food is ghastly. But, I want this place to succeed because it is a treasure of a building and the atmosphere is priceless. We recently had 20+ people and ordered many different items, a thorough examination of their menu and capabilities. We have been there before and the food was not that bad, but overpriced for the quality. Last night, because the food was spectacularly terrible, the conversation switched to sampling each others food and trying to determine who's dish was the worst. I had the "local catch", halibut ($30), which must have been frozen. The texture was of sawdust and clay and the preparation was without any skill. This was cafeteria-grade fish for $30! Two of us had the prime rib ($40) and and several others had the ribeye ($35). Both were uniformly flavorless, chewy, and just looked gross. Inedible and nauseating to even look at. Even the prime rib soup was cafeteria-grade ($15). This was easily some of the worst food I have ever had. The spicy artichoke dip was good, and a few of the chicken sandwiches were edible. This was not just a bad night for the restaurant, the kitchen staff clearly is not trained to even be working a lemonade stand...seriously, this place is a disaster. It was embarrassing to see the strained looks on our guest's faces. The bill was $800 and we will NEVER go back. read more

It has been a long while since I've gone to a place that is rustic and warm. Aptly named Timber Roadhouse, it's color and appearance is a mirror of timber by the road. And just like the house on the road, the food was inviting. The Bavarian Pretzel smelled so good and tasted like salted freshness, if that makes any sense. I can imagine how good it smells while being baked. I ordered the local catch of the day and it was hands down buttery, zesty and fresh. The grains were touched by juices of the veggies and the fish and the lemon. A slight steam escapes as I get a bite of the fish. Perfect. I can eat three of this. Service is quick, maybe because we came at the last hour before closing. We couldn't stay much later, they were ready to close. It was Sunday night and our servers were ready to go. Been here several times as I live nearby. The food started great when they opened but has consistently gone downhill. Our waitress in the bar was fantastic. They were busy and she seemed to be the only server in the rather large bar area. She was attentive and quick. Ordered the prime rib rare. It was by far the strangest cut of prime rib I've ever had. Zero seasoning/crust. It had the consistency of a frozen and re-heated piece of meat. The bite was not juicy but almost watery. After a couple of bites I gave up. I've countless prime ribs both excellent and bad over my life. This was one of the worst. My wife's filet was nothing to write home about either. Again a very strange piece of meat. I can only assume they've drop choice grade on their meat down to straight up select. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. read more

It's always Great to see an Iconic Santa Barbara Eatery get Reborn and shown a lot of Love! The Timbers Roadhouse is wonderful example of one of those Resurrections! Back in the day Timbers was a Goleta Hot spot. Now it's a Beautiful New Timbers Roadhouse restaurant. My Friend Alison and I stopped by after a trip to the Santa Ynez Valley we were seated by a Wonderful hostess at a comfy booth. Our server and Bartender Gregg came and took care of us. With a Generous 2pm to 6pm Happy hour we were Excited. We ordered our Beverages and Potato skins . (No pic) Alison had a Bacon Cheeseburger . I had the French Dip and a Wedge salad . The food was Amazing. The Service was over the Top. As we were finishing our meal the afternoon Happy hour was picking up speed and people were Beveraging and the appetizers were coming out of the kitchen. Everyone involved in the operation was helpful and engaging. On the way out we were thanked by Gino one of the Owners. A Great name for a Restauranteur! read more

Timber's Roadhouse in Goleta offers a fantastic dining experience with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor creates a cozy ambiance, and the friendly staff adds to the overall welcoming vibe. The menu features a variety of mouthwatering dishes, although the Local Halibut was kind of bland. I was initially going to order the Tri-Tip, but went with the Halibut special instead, I should have gone with the tri tip. With its excellent service it was a memorable dining experience in Goleta. read more
