We love this restaurant! The wait staff are so nice and very attentive. Love the big cabin feel and huge fireplace. They have a casual side and more formal side (same menu) very comfortable. I am pretty picky and we have had just about everything on the menu with no complaints. For appetizers we love the grilled artichoke and roasted brussel sprouts. The tomato bisque is delicious. We love the filet mignon and the Timbers hamburger with onion bacon jam and blue cheese! Crispy herbed chicken, fish special (halibut!), duck con fit and fish and chips! We were attending an event at UCSB and this was the perfect spot for an early dinner. The bread was warm & delicious, I had the fish of the day - halibut- and it was perfectly cooked. It came with a rice pilaf and green beans and both were flavorful and tasty. Husband had the baby back ribs, baked potato and green beans. He loved everything. Perfectly seasoned, cooked so the meat was falling off the bone. We had the blackberry pie for dessert and it was fantastic! Our server Philip was excellent. read more

The owners, formerly of Woodys BBQ, are trying really hard to make this new venture work and be successful. We've been three times now but the latest visit was mostly to listen to the band in the bar area...the place was hopping! I started with the bacon wrapped jalapeños poppers off the HH menu...practically too spicy for me to eat! I don't blame the restaurant though...jalapeños can vary a lot in the amount of heat they deliver. My main was the classic wedge which oddly enough did not have bacon crumbles (minus one star). Bottom Line: Not bad, not great The last time I had been to Timbers was probably 20-25 years ago. The history of this place is actually quite extraordinary. There were only two attacks on the continental United States during WWII. One of them was in Oregon with a 'fire balloon' and the other one was near Goleta by a Japanese submarine which ended in the destruction of the pier that was there. That pier was salvaged and used to create this restaurant. You can see WWII history literally burned into the walls of this establishment. Inside, it's massive. It's almost like two restaurants put together. In the main dining area near the bar, there are many large screens for your viewing pleasure. There's a large outdoor area with lots of activities as well. My wife and I seized the chance during week to take some time away from everything and have lunch here. I ordered the 1/4 chicken meal and the wife had the fish and chips. Right off I have to say that I was disappointed. The chicken was very pink on the inside, I ate what I felt had been cooked through and that part was ok. The rest of it was not cooked enough to eat, at least from what I've seen in my time working in restaurants, and grilling etc. My wifes fish was pretty good - I stole her coleslaw as my plate only had fries on it. I enjoyed the slaw as well. The service was good - the staff were friendly and professional. The prices are borderline outrageous, IMHO. $30 for a half rack of ribs, $20 for a burger.... we ordered a milkshake to go which was $8. First off it wasn't correct, second off, for $8 it was tiny. It came in what I would consider a 'kids cup'. The really crazy thing is that I know that the prices have come down.... Consider that when you think that this place is in a gas station parking lot, next the freeway, railroad tracks and adjacent to a trailer park. This place has a ton of potential but they have some ground to cover. read more

Unexpected gem on our 101 road trip. We happened upon Timbers as a restroom break at the gas station next door. A quick peak at the online menu was enough for all of us to agree to give it a try. So glad we did. Timbers could almost pass for a high end restaurant. Restaurant itself has a lot of unique charm. Not noisy (although wasn't super busy). Wait staff was present and tried. But had a few minor mis-steps. Examples: mixed up the salad order, offered more bread, but never brought any and mixed up the dinner order. No steak knife with the prime rib. We just passed the plates around and didn't need the extra bread in the end. Food was great overall. Prime rib was tasty but a tad chewy. The sides: mashed potatoes, vegetables and the salad all were excellent. My wife ordered the chicken, it was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The kids were satisfied with their kids meals as well. Also worth noting some small niceties... the ranch salad dressing was fantastic, the iced tea was clear and flavorful, silverware and tablecloths were clean and bathrooms were clean.. We were too full to try dessert. I will definitely aim to have Timbers Roadhouse as a stop on our next trip north. read more

Didn't really know what to expect when we pulled up, though this place had good reviews. From the exterior it's nothing special. However, once inside I was like, ok yeah I get it. Staff is incredibly friendly and the restaurant is effing huge! The patio area is great for mini humans and dogs. They even have a dog menu, and yes, we did order a beef patty for our puppers. Had lunch, party of four, for the second time since the restaurant re-opened and it was good. Dishes included pulled pork sandwich, veggie roll, fish and chips and baby back ribs. I was pleased to see they added a brown ale to their list of IPA's and lagers, which went well with my ribs. Bar-B-Q sauce was good; tangy and sweet - as I favor. Fries were good, large-cut. Fish didn't seem to be cod, but was good. Portions were good-sized, everyone took some home. It was good to see the place was busy, including one major event. When the weather warms, the outside patio should be very popular. Some may find it a little pricey, but I'm OK with it for good quality food and a nice environment. For years this restaurant has stood dark and empty like the restaurant in The Goonies. I am delighted to report that not only is it open, it is thriving!
