Because my doctor's appointment was nearby, I came along with him. I am currently 39 weeks pregnant and scheduled for a C-section tomorrow. While browsing, I found items I intended to purchase, but first needed to use the restroom. I asked the employee at the desk if there was a restroom available, and I was told the closest one was across the street at a gas station. This was confusing, considering this is a shop where patrons often spend hours browsing, trading cards, and participating in tournaments. When I pointed that out, another employee chimed in to say the restroom was "not open to the public" unless there was a tournament. At that point, multiple employees began offering explanations that felt dismissive rather than helpful. As a visibly very pregnant customer, accompanying my husband who is an established patron, being told to walk across the street to a gas station restroom felt incredibly inconsiderate and humiliating. I ultimately walked away because the interaction was becoming upsetting. My husband was equally frustrated, and we left immediately. I understand businesses can have restroom policies, but basic compassion and customer service matter--especially in situations involving pregnancy or medical need. This experience left a very negative impression.

They also had sections for "staff-recommended", "Halloween themed", "two-player only" items, and many more, which I found to be super helpful. I was able to find some games that I had never seen in California, for example Hanamikoji which I ended up buying! Price seemed reasonable and comparable to what I see here in California. I had a great time browsing board games here and had a wonderful time shopping here. My only comment was I hope the staff were a little bit friendlier to us - they helped us with what we needed but they were not smiling or wouldn't go out of their way to be friendly to us, I would say. But I still had a good time here :)

But this is no ordinary hardware store. This is also the Michigan hobby shop and hardware store Mecca!! We found the coolest remote control micro drones, remote control cars, planes, trucks, helicopters, trains, and everything else you can imagine. There was a complete aisle of Boy Scout supplies and another for the Girl Scouts. We bought several things for homeschool in those aisles. The train aisle not only has trains and tracks but everything you need for building layouts, gardens and miniatures. They had slot cars GaLORE!! If your are an enthusiast or a collected you really need to check out all the cool slot cars. I was drooling over quite a few. Be sure to look up when you get to the hobby area. The planes are super cool!! Arts and craft items, painting and drawing items, models, puzzles, ships, planes, cars, and trains. It's a young mans heaven here!!!

I visited this hobby shop for the first time back in February of 2000. This is when I became…read moreinterested in the world of Gundam- both the animation and the model kits. This store not only had a good selection of Gundam model kits, but also of other Japanese animation series kits. Also, the owner is a very courteous person and offers discounts on all items. There is a display case that features customers built models, a magazine rack that contains many hobby magazines and a good selection of all types of kits. Some examples are classic ships, battleships, spaceships, monster kits, airplanes and of course cars. They sell Aurora Model Motoring cars and parts and also train sets, cars and lots of train set layout scale buildings and people. It is worth a trip to check out the eclectic stock of items at this little shop. They seem to carry items that other shops do not have. That's what makes trips to different hobby shops fun. You never know what you may find that they do not make anymore, and West Point Hobby just might have some of these things. I missed out on 4 kits that I should have bought, plus a neat Chessie Sytem train set that looked tempting. And suffice it to say, I can't even find them now on Ebay! Stop by when you have the time!

This is a cute little mom and pop shop that's the only game in town when it comes to stores…read moreexclusively devoted to kites (and windsocks, spinners and possibly a handful of other wind activated amusements I don't know the names for). Some friends of mine started something they dubbed Detroit Kite Club. As you might have guessed this involves people getting together and flying kites. I decided I wanted in and after perusing some kites online I opted to go to a brick and mortar outlet as I was going out to Ann Arbor and saw there was exactly one kite store in metro Detroit. The selection isn't huge. They didn't have the cool skeleton or bat kites I saw online. I did, however, get a fantastic large multicolored owl kite that garners positive comments just about every time I've flown it. (Usually at Metro Beach or Belle Isle.) The lady working there was super nice, too. I lost one of the plastic poles that hold my big technicolor owl together and misplaced my reel of kite string so I had to go back and the same lady cut me a new pole in short time after I showed her the one I needed and she didn't have quite the right length. She even gave me an extra free of charge just in case I lose another. And sold me a better reel than the first one I had - I believe this one is 500 feet. That owl can get way up there on a windy day if I let it all the way out. I haven't flown the owl yet this year. I'm planning on going to the U.P. with two other DKC members next month so maybe I'll bring it. They have a kite that looks like a squid. An owl and a squid hanging out - wacky! The Free Design once sang that Kites are Fun and they are. And this is where you can find fun Kites and fun things.

It was there for almost a month without ever hearing from anyone. Once I started calling and asking about the hold up it miraculously was now under repair. Was finally able to get it picked up and when I went in to get it they charged me another $362 so in total it was $500 to replace some front suspension parts and a bent chassis on car that costs $500 brand new.
