I was writing reviews for places that I visited in the past year and came across this place. I visited Timo Wine Bar with a large group of friends and saw that they closed not too long after we were here. I live in the East Valley and very rarely make my way out to this part of town. It was my first time visiting Timo. The customer service was very nice here at Timo. The outdoor patio was beautiful and relaxing and had a lot of shade. The bummer was that we couldn't order any food because their kitchen was shut down for the evening. Maybe because they knew they were closing soon? I wasn't too impressed with my white sangria either. It barely had any fruit in it and was a little on the weak side. With that being said, you hate to see a long-time local business close up shop. I wish the owner well in his future endeavors. The spot is now Slate by Nik Fields and is owned and operated by celebrity chef Nik Fields. read more

I don't know if my experience during this visit represents this place always, or maybe it's hit or miss, but I can't say I loved it. So I'll just rate it as mid. I love wine so it seems like a slam dunk , but my visit just fell flat. I met up with some other Yelp friends to have drinks, food, and celebrate two birthdays with some cake. That was the best part, the company! :) I went up to bar to order wine before happy hour ended. I asked which wines are on happy hour, was told any. I ordered one from the menu I had pulled up on my phone. Internet said listed that Pinot noir normally $10 per glass. I ordered two, one for myself and other for another friend who wasn't gonna make the HH cut off. Bartender poured the glasses, and I gave my card and he ran it, and then I saw it seems they were $10 a glass, which is same as the regular price listed on the Internet. So I don't know what happened. Either it wasn't on happy hour or the website is incorrect. Who knows. I was told there's no food coming out of the kitchen, however I could order a snack. I didn't even look at the snacks. The one person working the bar and dining area was pretty busy so didn't make sense to get too much ordered. I just decided if the kitchen wasn't open I would go elsewhere after my glass of wine. I was pretty hungry. Glad we had that cake! Maybe this is a cool spot, but that wasn't my experience so I don't think I'll drive over here again for this place specifically. read more

A group of us selected Timo for after work drinks, food, and bonding. The day of the gathering, a rep informed the organizer that the kitchen would be closed, but there would be a charcuterie board and other treats. The group decided to meet anyway since the bar was open. I get there and there are three others already seated. I was told that they had been waiting for about 15 minutes,, but didn't think that there was table service. I get up to go to the bar, and was informed by a couple sitting at a table that one man was managing the entire restaurant. At the moment has was preparing a charcuterie board so it may be a minute for the drinks. I was taking aback. The folks at the bar was wonderful, regulars who was very understanding of the situation. Finally, we got a drink order in. This poor man was indeed preparing food, bartending, going the whole 9 yards solo. Kudos to him!! Street parking available. You enter through the lovely patio area. The place is small, but it looks like it can be a nice date night spot when everything is running properly. read more

I came here years ago and sat outside around a fire pit and remembered having a good time here but last night when we came here, it was a fail. We had a large part of 13 and we called ahead and we were forewarned the kitchen wasn't working but we still decided to come here. The guy running the place did have a charcuterie board out with some snacks but that was devoured quickly and I never got anything from the plate. There are some HH specials with $8 sangria and $22 for a pitcher. Sangria was so so and the guy working here made my friend a lemon basil mocktail but wasn't very good as per friend. The place was also kind of warm and someone said to me that the business seems it might be on its way out. The guy working was really nice and did his best, but sadly the place just didn't do it for me from the so so drinks to no food, to a fairly warm room and not sure what was going on with the music, felt all very sloppy really. I doubt I will come back here again, but if things improve, I could see myself back in here on a live music night with a better sangria. read more

I am a regular and always my go to place. I love everything here. Today I had a gathering of some ladies and had been in contact with Kaitlin to let her know what I wanted. She is incredible. Had the best lunch with her spacing all our courses perfectly. She really is such a great person and knows how to make one feel welcome. Arizona Restaurant Week Fall '26 Chef outdid himself! Tuscan Sausage Dip with wood fired toasts crostinis! The dip was eye-rolling back delicious! Fired in the wood oven! Overall: this is a review for happy hour M-F 3-6pm. Nothing really stood out food wise with some disappointments. Would probably come back again for *just* the happy hour menu and for the outdoor patio (which we didn't try out today but which looked nice) Dishes we tried: 1) Happy hour charred cauliflower salad - the cauliflower could have been more charred and more seasoned. Dressing and pepita was nice. For a dish called cauliflower salad though the cauliflower could have been better 2) Happy hour blackberry rose sangria and cava sangria - loose definition of zangria, felt more like a mixed well drink, tasted like juice with alcohol 3) Happy hour charred octopus - on the salty side but still delicious 4) Go green pizza with added sausage (additional $4 more) - the wood fire crust was good but the pizza was very soggy in the middle. The soggiest I've had personally! But when it wasn't soggy, it was a good pizza. Ambiance: casual Service: definitely seemed short staffed. Only one server on Friday night. I arrived early for a date and sat at the bar. The regulars, the owner, and the staff were all engaging and friendly. The fires in the oven and the fire pit created a warm ambiance. The food was great! My date ordered the margarita pizza and it was delish, but had way too much garlic for her taste. I had the crispy pig and fig and it was near perfection. The figs were a bit huge for me, but the flavor was terrific. We ended the meal with the warm chocolate cake. It was delightful! Apparently the peach cobbler is amazing and a must try. Blink and you will miss this place! The restaurant is tucked away near an office building on Central. Hard to find does translate into ample parking from Happy Hour on. We had a group of 10 on their patio. It's cozy with a fire pit and smells of mesquite or wood burning from smoker. Sometimes service suffers in the patio but ours was fantastic. I recommend the boards they offer but the appetizers in general are really good! Most of the table ordered and raved about the red sangria but they have a couple of flavor options include blackberry. Holiday lights are up there so if you need a place to celebrate you should check this place out. We will be back for sure! read more

I got wine and food here with my friends to celebrate finishing our exams! The inside of the restaurant is very cute and warm. My friends both ordered pizza and shared the Timo bread. They both loved it! I got the lamb entree and asked for gluten free. I loved my dish! The sauce was very balanced to veggie to risotto ratio was perfect! I did substitute my rice for the asparagus one. The lamb was cooked perfectly! I definitely would order this dish again. We also shared a bottle of Malbec and it was tasty! Amazing! I came in on your Saturday morning after running some errands and asked for the charred octopus which is served over a white bean bacon casserole. Every favor in this dish cakes out to play the bacon in the beans gives it just the right touch of salt to be honest the casserole tasted like mom's frijoles charros. The octopus is cooked in the wood oven to perfection not slummy and not over chewy. Tip of the hat to the chef. Timo is a fantastic place for a meal, for tapas or for happy hour. There is a generous patio with a mix of dining tables and cushioned patio furniture. Live music is also available on certain nights. On this, my third or fourth visit, service and food was much more consistent than my first visit. The food was great but the service was only fair on my first couple of tries. They have it all ironed out now, though! The crew is cohesive and attentive with nice bar drinks and wines and a solids menu of tapas to full entrees. Build in an old firehouse, Timo has a great ambiance indoors and out. But, by all means, go for the food and beverage options, all of which is cooked in a wood-fired oven! read more

We came for Happy Hour and had a wonderful time. Staff was very friendly. Two servers were working in the patio area and they did a great job caring for all the very full tables out there. Whenever we needed anything, one of the servers was right there so we were in and out after having some drinks and an appetizer, which is what we wanted. The patio is beautiful and felt super lush. I was impressed by how good they packaged everything, but the taste of the food was very disappointing The Brie Soup was ok, but it didn't have much in it. The Mac 'N Cheese did not have truffle taste or smell at all. The coppa sandwich was simply not edible. I think there was something wrong with the meat. The skirt sandwich actually was good, but it got impacted by everything else. Overall, would not visit this place again. read more

Hubby and I recently had a date night at Timo's. We sat on their lovely patio. The atmosphere was magical. After a brief time, one of the servers greeted us and brought menus. Not being in any rush, we took our time looking at all the offerings- this was our first time at Timo's. The article in the AZ REPUBLIC raving about Timo's prompted our visit. I ordered one of the sangrias. It was sublime. My husband just ordered an iced tea. We decided on a full salad vs a half order, and a pizza. The salad arrived first. I thought it was the 1/2 order in error, the plate was so small. The pizza followed soon after. Once again, a surprisingly small pizza. Smaller than a dinner plate. The salad we chose was not to our liking. We just kinda picked at it. While the pizza was tasty, it didn't live up to the paper's hype. The service was fair- definitely not attentive, especially since the restaurant was so sparsely filled. My husband finished his iced tea and asked for a refill. It came eventually... We sat and chatted, finished the pizza & drinks and asked for our check. Now here's where I really almost lost it! We were charged for the refill on the tea- as 2 orders!! Believe me, I truly understand that prices are rising, and businesses are feeling the squeeze. Certain modifications need to be made that make sense for their bottom line. I get it. But, NEVER have we been charged for a refill on iced tea ANYWHERE! It wasn't the $4 that upset us, just the hubris involved in trying to gouge the customer. Whew, this was a disappointment. In town for 24ish hours and of course I want to check the food scene, so why not with tapas? I stumbled across this spot on Yelp and seeing the reviews - I hopped in an Uber quick. Unfortunately the food was beyond sub-par; - The Mac and cheese was plopped in a skillet and placed in the fire oven (mind you, you can see them preparing the food). I then watched the employee rip up prosciutto with her bare hands and put it on the Mac. Not sure how it came out the wood fire oven...room temp?? - Salmon & corn cakes. Boy oh boy did the chef forget seasoning. Again, room temp with some form of tuna fish textured salmon on top that reminded me of slaw. My third time to Timo tonight. This is a fantastic first date spot, especially the patio. I have found the seating inside to be either hard steel chairs, or strange little couches with the table too high to make use of. Still, the wine selection, menu was very interesting, good attentive service as well. Pricing is as you would expect. Figure on $60 for two people for appetizers and wine. read more

I don't often find myself in the Sunny Slope area of Phoenix. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Timo Wine Bar. The interior is a mix of bar seating, tables and a few padded bench tables. There was a nice selection of wines, drinks and cocktails to choose from, they have a nice Happy Hour. Tapas, salads, charcuterie and the very popular bruschetta offerings. Wood fired pizzas and tasty nibbles to accompany your beverage of choice. For me the highlight of Timo Wine Bar is the nice patio and outdoor seating area. It's lovely with a large fire pit, ample seating and nice ambiance with strings of lights under the shady trees. I have lived near this place for 5 years and I did not know it existed. I went in for restaurant but did not order off the restaurant week menu. I ordered the Ceviche for a starter and the Chicken Aphrodite pizza and had both the peach & apple sangria. EVERYTHING TASTED AHHHMAZING! All I am saying is get to Timo and have a drink and enjoy the wood fire pizza. Next time I plan to sit outside and have a cocktail. It would be great if there was live music too! The happy hour wine deals makes this place worth the stop as they do have specials everyday. Service was a bit slow even with booked reservations and the restaurant not being full. The pan seared skirt steak was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Great appetizer to start however..... when it came to the entrees, that is were quality went down. The ribeye I ordered was overcooked as I requested medium rare and came out more medium-medium well. In addition, the side roasted potatoes were HEAVILY salted. My gf ordered the spicy salami pizza which looked great but had little to no seasoning, which was ironic compared to the seasoning on my side potatoes. Might of been just an off night for them but this place is a decent date spot to try out. read more

Organized a birthday dinner celebration in the patio dining at Timo's. Nice space in the patio, but very small and crowded. But happy they accommodate group reservations. For the group, we ordered the scallops as starter. It was good, not too chewy, but very small in size. Ordered the chicken as my main entree, it was a big size chicken, but meat was more on the dry side. We also ended our meals with the peach cobbler and chocolate cakes - both desserts were delicious. Our server was great and very attentive, we stayed passed their 9:00 closing time and the server was never rude to shoot us away. read more

What a GEM! I've found my new place! The intimate dinning area is beautifully decorated. The evening ambiance is illuminated by candlelight on each table & as they draw open the side wall it allows for the cool air to come in with a beautiful view of white lit trees. The Wood-fired oven is right next to the bar area & super neat to see & smell as they prepare delicious pizzas on mesquite wood. The outdoor seating area is lit & has a fire pit area to enjoy your glass of wine next to . The food is fantastic, ambiance is perfect but most importantly the employees are approachable, welcoming & amazingly friendly. This is my go to wine bar. Love the atmosphere, food, and wine selections. I've been there three times now and each time the food and drinks have been phenomenal. Love the wood fired oven inside and the open air concept. I had the rib-eye tonight which was quite good along with the purple cauliflower. I'm not a cauliflower person and I ate almost all of it. I've had the sangria and rose wine and both have been great. On a down note, sometimes the service is a bit slow. Tonight it seemed to be a challenge to split the bill in half but they comped my date and I a glass of wine each. Love this place. read more

I went there with a moderately large group for an early Saturday lunch on the patio. The patio was very comfortable and the perfect place for our social gathering. I had the special sandwich, a shortrib sandwich and paid extra for the side salad over the chips. I also had a can of peanut butter stout beer. The sandwich was very good. The bread was delicious. The short rib was most, tender, and plentiful. The side salad had fresh greens in them. My companions all seemed to enjoy their meals as well. The only downside was that some tree droppings got into our drinks and food when the wind blew. But that is to be expected when you sit under a tree. We had dinner at Timo last Saturday. We asked for the Restaurant Week menu and everything was fantastic! The garlic-roasted sea scallops was out of sight delicious for the first course. My second course salad was excellent as was my companion's steak and onion soup. Her parmesan crusted filet and my blackened sea bass were equally delicious. We sat on the patio since it will soon be too hot to do so. The lighting and background music were very romantic. The entire experience was great. The only thing I could possibly change would be to make their bistro tables just a bit larger. They're designed for small plates (it is a tapas wine bar) and become a bit crowded when having a four course meal. But that's trivial. Recent lunch was terrible! The salad had a pit in the date and I hurt a tooth. Then the steak was tough and more than rare. I think it was just passed over the flame. I have been here several times over the years and never had a bad meal until now. I don't know if it was the time of day or the heat, but the staff looked annoyed we walked through the door. We decided to check this place out for happy hour and were blown away by the ambiance. I am a person who always looks for a great layout at any restaurant I visit so I'm always pleased when I score 1. Arrived around 4 p.m. and found the place abandoned. Awesome. First pics on he beautiful patio. I chose to sit in the very back so that I could enjoy the people watching as I drank. I recommend this. For wine I ordered a few different Cabs as I was very much in a red mood. All great and our server Michelle was awesome and kept the drinks flowing. Large enough wine selection so choose wisely. We ordered the loaded Italian pizza, salmon corn cakes, and wood fired wings. The Italian Pizza is a keeper. Will order that next time. Perfect char. The salmon corn cake and wood fired wings were just okay but not terrible. I felt the wings were lacking some flavor. And I wasn't a huge fan of the capers on the salmon. But still good dishes.
