5 stars all the way! I've been a fan of this place all the way back to when they were the Yumbar. I love their bowls in particular, the food is great and it's so rare to find reasonable prices in this city anymore! Service has always been top-notch, I love the friendliness of the staff. I went most recently to see their Christmas decorations. Kudos for daring to go pink and breaking from the traditional green and red! Holiday cheer looks fabulous in pink. Plenty of parking around the property (some dedicated spots, and plenty of street parking also). And when you're done eating/drinking, you can always play games in the outside patio, or visit one of the other businesses in the complex!

Came with a girlfriend for Flamboyance drag brunch and had a great time! I already knew I like the good and annoyance of this place--adding the staff show just makes it better! At the core is very bright and kind of like a 1980s Miami. Very colorful. I'm not sure what else is at the top of the stairs, but I know there's a DJ booth up there because you can see the DJ from the opening in the corner. Food here is really good. We started with spinach artichoke dip - delish! Every time I've come here I've gotten the pozole, and I ordered it again. I know I should expand my horizons and try other things, but I just really love it so much. I also ordered espresso martini, and it was really good. The drag show was fantastic.. so much fun! The girls were talented--loved "Dolly Parton!" Since we were there celebrating my birthday, I got to go on stage and have a little drinky-poo! I can't wait to come back to the drag brunch! If you come, be aware that the parking situation can be challenging if you don't come early. And if you come to the drag brunch, make sure to bring lots of dollar bills.

I came here for a drag show. It was so much fun, and the food was actually quite good! I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly with a slight yolk run (yum). The hollandaise sauce was extensively drenched. And the potato's were made perfectly. The servers were so kind and attentive, even amidst a show, they'll still make their way to check up on you! The show was also amazing of course. The layout of the establishment was perfect for it, and felt nicely spaced and friendly.

    Chicken nachos. Excellent.

Wonderful spot in Melrose!! Came in for a large group birthday dinner. Our party was easily accommodated. The space is cute, clean and so new. We had a super friendly waitress. The food came out hot, fresh and delicious. The group tried a few different appetizers and entrees. Recommend the coconut shrimp and artichoke dip for starters. Burgers were huge and juicy! Chicken tenders were great. Nachos were awesome. Overall amazing food and vibes. Great place to have a group get together!!! There's a green space with games and seating. And the little shops all around are so cute. Please check out this spot!

Have you checked out the newly updated menu at Royale Kitchen & Cocktails. Yum! Set in the heart of the Phoenix Melrose District, it's a gem. Tasty appetizers, delicious entrees and decadent desserts. Don't forget the full list of craft cocktails! The Strawberry Basil Martini was so good. The wait staff is very attentive. The decor has a cool vibe. You can't go wrong with cacti and flamingos! Check it out.

Great Happy hour menu. Nice friendly place in Melrose!

A great place to drop in from brunch lunch or even late afternoon or evening sandwiches and casual dinner. LGBTQ plus friendly in the heart of Melrose. Been here three times now enjoyed every visit. A nice find for any persuasion. Note outdoor patio on the nice days as well as outdoor cocktail patio. See you there.

Lylo Swim Club was always top of mind but I still searched to see if there was an option closer to where I live in North East Phoenix. Ultimately Lylo Swim Club was what I chose and I am very glad that I did. The fan mister gave us great comfort and the pool was the perfect temperature for us all. The popular Dole Whip drink did not disappoint we all three ordered one. Also the food was delicious and our server Miguel provided us with stellar service! I highly recommend that you book a pool side lounge or daybed for your next gathering.

Lylo has some awesome vibes, but it's an overpriced pool bar. If you want the tropical, pool-side…read morevibes, those prices might be worth it to you. Just keep an eye on how much you're spending! There's a lot of spots for improvement here, but I'd also say that Lylo is one of the few businesses I've ever seen do such a visually-great escape out from their pool area. If you're here for the escape and temper your expectations for food or drink, I think you'd have a good time. There are a TON of mosquitos here, so prepare accordingly. The bar and hotel lobby didn't have bug spray nor any for sale. The nearby liquor store does have some for sale at less than a block's walk. (The pool is hot mid Phoenix summer. The pool itself felt closer to a hot tub than a refreshingly cold pool. I'm told this is normal for pools in Arizona in the summer.) PROS: -All of the drinks are really pretty, visually, and with the pool, you have a great mecca for social media photos. -Despite the ridiculous 110+ Phoenix heat, we were relatively comfortable in the shaded restaurant area with the misters. We could still see the pool, but we weren't baking alive. -Pool bathrooms were clean enough. There were lots of puddles and toilet paper on the ground, but nothing was horrific or moldy like some pool bathrooms can be. Spacious stalls for changing too - though I didn't see any shower or changing areas. -The pool area itself is pretty! It makes for gorgeous Instagram photos, and Lylo knows that. There are lots of little spots (a camp sign, a chair off on its own, all the loungers, etc.) that make cute photo backdrops in addition to the pool itself. -There is a collection of inflatable pool toys in the corner that seem to be open for guest use. CONS: -Water bottles are not allowed at all - not even sealed disposable plastic ones from the grocery store. They'll store them for you, and you can fetch your own water with disposable plastic cups while you're here. -The misters in the pool area were broken. With the heat, we chose not to actually use the pool, and instead stayed in the restaurant, shaded area with misters. -All of the on-menu drinks are pretty sweet and not super boozy (at their price points). It's easy to go through quite a few at their higher price. Make sure that you're spending intentionally. -We weren't in love with the food we ordered. It felt like frozen food reheated and served to us. To be fair, that's about to be expected from a pool bar, but it was still something to note at the prices and with nearby restaurants walkable. -Service is there. I wouldn't say it was friendly or welcoming, but the servers checked in often in-between talking to people in swimsuits or joking with friends. I rarely waited for anything, but I didn't feel like a valued guest. -The fabric of the chaise loungers and lounge beds are stained. I saw some employees hauling off some of them and shoving them into the back of a fabric cleaning van, so I'd assume they rotate in and out and have to deal with a ton of spilled drinks.

I hadn't tried this location on 7th until just recently, when I came by during happy hour with some friends. There is a spacious parking lot tucked away in the back, opposite of the street view side. This is also where the entrance is! Walk toward the breezeway and it's to your right. Immediately, we were greeted by our host and the warm/inviting atmosphere. I'm impressed by how well decorated both LeDu locations are, in unique ways. We got the fried tofu, passion fizz, lychee martini, jungle bird, and my usual pad thai with beef and beansprouts on the side. Passion Fizz: passion fruit, demerera, sparkling wine - sweet, light, refreshing Lychee martini: vodka, lychee, dry vermouth, lime - sweet, strong, lychee flavor is perfect and not overpowering Jungle Bird: spiced rum, campari, pineapple, lime - sweet, deep flavor from the rum Fried tofu: a little dry even with the sauce, a small portion for the price, not my favorite Pad thai: tangy/sweet, packed with flavor, always delicious from LeDu! Definitely down for another happy hour or meal here anytime!

I arrived a bit before 6 to find it closed, no sign on the door and nothing online stating it had closed. So we headed downtown to the second location. I arrived about 6:10 pm and was asked if I had a reservation. I explained that we went to the other location only to find it closed and when we called the only number on the website to make a reservation (earlier in the day), no one answered the phone. We called multiple times. The guy at the door informed us the other location had closed and he couldn't seat us until 8 pm unless we wanted to sit at the bar. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager there. A restaurant should always have a manager or someone on site empowered to address customer concerns. We agreed to sit at the bar. First we ordered cocktails for $17 each. While they were tasty and refreshing, they had virtually no alcohol. I ordered the Kra Pow and, on the server's recommendation, chose the pork belly. My friend ordered the Pad Ki-Mao with pork belly. After waiting 30-45 minutes for the food, it finally arrived. Mine was dry pieces of pork belly, dry rice, an egg and three cucumber slices, no sauce whatsoever. When I asked for sauce, I was offered soy sauce and hot chili. My friend's noodles were tasty, but she also thought her pork belly was dry. The server, who was also the host and bartender didn't check in on us a single time during our meal. Between the outdated website, unanswered phone, lack of management and service, long wait and underwhelming food and drinks, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. I expected much more from this place.

It tasted tart and like lemons. Not crunch. Soft ice. One thing though. The drinks weren't bad price. Average for tha area. The only thing is the bar tender made all of our drinks very strong. Most people think that's a good thing but honestly all I could taste was booze. I ordered a whisky sprite (7and7 spoof) and wow I could only taste whiskey. Every sip was booze booze and more booze. For the cocktails I wasn't able to taste any of the ingredients since it was so strong on the alcohol. Definitely moneys worth I guess lol. The bartender though was very nice and knowledgeable about all the drinks. Could explain all the drinks and the different types of alcohol. Not bad. Definitely would come back. Super cute for date night or a small gathering night out since space wise isn't huge.

We were greeted and seated promptly, and our servers were absolutely wonderful. The drinks and food were both top-notch, and the ambiance was calm, atmospheric, and romantic without feeling stuffy. The food was easily a 10/10. Everything was so unique, flavorful, and made with such high-quality ingredients. You can really tell there's a lot of thought put into the menu. After dinner, we were escorted over to their lounge next door for a nightcap and listening party, which was such a fun addition to the evening. We loved the experience so much that when our waiter mentioned they also serve breakfast, we came back the very next day to try the breakfast menu for the first time! And WOW -- breakfast did not disappoint. We tried the Sonoran dog with roe, tres leches French toast, steak and eggs, and the tamale bowl. Everything was amazing, but the Sonoran dog with roe was LIFE CHANGING. I would highly recommend either the steak and eggs or the Sonoran dog. The French toast was delicious, but I was glad we had some heartier dishes to balance it out. And I can't forget the thrift store! It's absolutely adorable, and I especially loved all of the crochet blankets. Between the food, service, atmosphere, lounge experience, and all the little details, Valentine is such a special place. We had such a great experience that we literally came back the next morning -- I think that says it all. 10/10 and highly recommend!

I first came across Don Woods' Say When reading a Yelp article listing out the best rooftops in…read moreeach state. Don Woods was Arizona's pick. For quite a few months, I had it on my list to visit. I finally made things happen on a Wednesday evening for a drink. Located on the roof (of course) of a boutique hotel, I find free parking in the hotel's parking lot. While it was a busy parking lot, I was able to find a spot. Unfortunately, my night consisted of a comedy of errors. Ambiance (3/5): When you think best rooftop in the state, you're thinking scenic and peaceful views. Don Woods' certainly has that, though I've seen better in Phoenix. You can see the mountains in the background, but that's about it. The hotel is located on a busy street, where you'll often hear the noise of cars buzzing by or the train choo-chooing. Did I just make up a word?! I imagine the best time to stop by is during sunset. The outdoor area is relatively narrow with seating for about 20-30 people. It's a mix of comfortable seats and tables/chairs. There's also a charming indoor area, where the bar is located, but I felt like I had to sit outside. The weather was perfect, too. Service (2.5/5): This is where the comedy of errors began. I was given a menu and some water and was left to peruse the menu. Before the waitress had returned, I had picked out an appetizer and a cocktail. I then discovered that their cook had quit the other week and as a result, no food was available. That's fine and all, but you've gotta give me a heads-up when giving me the menu. That way, I wouldn't have spent the time to look over the food menu and get my heart set on a particular dish. On a better note, they have free WiFi. And service was overall friendly and pretty efficient. Food (N/A): While I was unable to order some food, on most nights, they have a small menu of small plates. More of a snack type of spot then a full meal type of establishment. Drinks (3/5): Don Woods is know for its cocktails and they have a list of 10 or so craft cocktails. Plus, beer, wine, and the typical options that you would find when there's a full bar. I feel like the bartender messed up the proportions on my cocktail as it was a bit rough. One drink and I was out. It seems like Don Woods' is experiencing some turnover which is leading to some mishaps. Combine that with some high expectations given the accolades they won, and it was the recipe for a disaster. I love a good rooftop bar, so I was hoping for more at Don Woods' Say When. Even the lobby of the hotel was experiencing issues. They sell popsicles in the lobby but the guy temporarily manning the front desk didn't know how to get their Square device working. Which ended up meaning no appetizers for me at Don Woods and no popsicles from the lobby. Two strikes. We live to fight another day.
